- Franz Wagner is one of the few players in the NBA that can quite literally do everything. The Orlando Magic are towards the end of what most consider to be a rebuilding phase, and the duo of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero are spearheading their ambitions to make the playoffs next year.
Franz had an electric showing at the FIBA World Cup for Germany, and it's only solidifying the notion that the Orlando Magic have not just one, but two young stars in the making with him and Paolo Banchero.
Wagner is a unique player in that he is extremely capable of doing everything, while also being extremely good at some things. It's hard to find really anything that Franz is overly deficient in, and he already looks like he's gonna be one of the most versatile players in the NBA on both sides of the floor.

hear me out… tyrese haliburton. real fans don’t underrate him but media/casuals generally don’t recognize the fact that he literally put up near mvp numbers as a 23 year old first option. I hardly saw any coverage on him throughout the year
I think Franz is a stud. He’s got legit multiple time All Star potential.

Rooting for his childhood franchise here in Berlin.
He is incredibly settled taking into account he just turned 22.
Obviously he’s not the best at anything but still he’s able to do pretty much everything.
Versatile, athletic, intelligent game.
I love how he doesn’t look to skilled but can get to the basket pretty much every time he wants to.
Really really glad we germans got to see him developing in the NBA and hopefully got a next all star soon.

Alex, thank you for not just sticking to big market teams like Lakers, Celtics, Suns etc. It's nice to see an analysis on players on smaller market teams that 98% of the mainstream media won't cover because they are more worried about potential views(more views $$$ from covering bigger market teams). I have been watching your videos for a couple months now and notice the significant quality difference between your analyses compared to other videos on youtube. Keep up the quality work, always a pleasure to watch your content.
ps. I know you have some Timberwolves videos, but I don't think their roster is talked about enough. Many people see them as a "play-in" team but honestly I think they are dark-horses to make a deep playoff run. I would love to hear your thoughts on their roster.

franz is very underrated with most nba fans there are really no big holes in his game and his the ideal archetype as the co star next to star player like paolo who is the best with the ball in his hands

awesome video. what i like the most about Franz are his playmaking skills. the fundamentals of his playstile he learned already in his time as a teenager on the youth teams and also in his first Pro season with Alba Berlin where the spanish coaching legend Aito Garcias successfully implemented his philosophy of read'n react free flowing offense. of course he was and still is growing with Michigan and now in Orlando... but i would proudly reclaim that the foundation was set (/laid?) in his Berlin years.

Franz would be putting up numbers or have more usage on certain other teams but on a lower scale the magic are kinda like the thunder... a lot of young talent that might not be fully developing or getting opportunities to show their game individually bc there's so much young talent.. at least the thunder have a for sure guy to build around with SGA but still with all their future draft picks and current young talent ion think certain guys are gonna be able to develop their game.. but the magic are a bit more all over the place

Just a baller. There are some lazy, selfish, idiots in the NBA. The ones that kill the flow. Watch Franz for 2 minutes and you can tell -- he gets it. He'd be that guy hooping 6 days a week at the park or rec, even if he wasn't getting paid.
I think they’re a play in team I honestly think that this year will be a year of gaining experience of learning how to be a winning team which could cause them to lose a lot of close games. I don’t know if this team has enough consistent offensive weapons outside of their main two to be a bonafide playoff team yet.
franz is the type of guy that would help a team win a chip as a 2nd or 3rd option. hes just that type of player that makes winning plays and does everything the team needs.
edit: he also doesnt have an ego problem like a lot of young good players

You realize that Magic Johnson won finals MVP as a rookie while playing "point guard-center" right?
And passing, shooting wing was also- Larry Bird. He was actually way better shooter than Lebron, much better rebounder and still averaged 6 apg for career. Matter of fact Larry smokes Lebron in steals and blocks as well.

So yes I am biased as I'm German and I know all those guys don't care they are a team and seem to have some of the greatest team chemistry ever but HOW is Franz Wagner not their Franchise guy and instead Paolo Banchero? I look at the stat sheets and sorry I do not see it, plain and simple.

One thing I noticed with him cuz I got him on my fantasy team last year is that he usually misses a lot of shots in the first half and starts making them on the 2nd half. And I also noticed that they did give him the ball alot, especially when his brother gets the ball and will usually let it fly more often than not, regardless if it's a good shot or not. But I do believe that he will get fewer touches next season if they are planning to go with banchero. He might even get traded, not cuz his bad but cuz he has a bigger value in the open market.

Franz is player that can fit pretty much any team and help. It's hard to talk about his ceiling but he will be great player for years to come.
You can hope Banchero improves his efficiency and rebounding and becomes great player as well.
But Magic main problem still is dreadful guard rotation made out of poor shooters.
Franz and paulo are about as good as each other, franz might even be slightly better
