    Recently, a friend and music colleague was selling one of these units at a yard sale sponsored by a local music store. Without having heard this synth ever before, I was a bit hesitant to buy it that day. So, I decided to do some research and came across this video on CZcams which clearly shows how powerful this synth module really is. The next day, I went back and bought it. I am glad I did.

    Outstanding demo, especially with using playing dynamics and control to make the sampled sounds sound like the actual instruments! I don't know what kind of person gives a video like this a thumbs down, but I can only imagine they also kick their dog after he fetches a stick or does tricks on command.

    @Gee Bill Yes, most keyboards from the mid-1980s onward will have a MIDI out port which you can connect via a MIDI cable to the MIDI in port of a synthesizer rack module like this Korg Triton. It appears that the author is just recording the output of the Triton directly without additional effects, although I can't verify this. Also, don't give up on your Casio - I've found that almost any keyboard will have great sounds that you can find a use for sooner or later with a little bit of programming and good mixing in your music.

      he has excellent audio for his vid because there is a trick involved. i use that same technique on my music vid and i know that trick ain't limited for this kind of stuff. almost all CZcamsrs know that, and it's even used in film making.
      audio-video sync: here's what's happening: while his video is rolling, he is also recording audio on a separate audio recorder. then later after everything is done, the video from his camera device and the audio he recorded separately are synced using a video editing software that has that ability. i.e Adobe Premiere or Cyberlink Powerdirector 13/3 ultra/13 ultimate (the only version of PD that has that feature). you can also sync manually but it requires a lot of work. i only learned it recently. :)

      Thank you very much - I no longer have the TR-Rack but IIRC, pianos were very nice but not its forte. I think if you're looking for nice quality pianos, you could consider a dedicated digital piano, a more modern rack or keyboard synth - or if you don't mind computer + software, a modern software piano library

    Im ownner of korg tr rack , m3r rack , sg rack. They are old modules ok, but I believe that the limts of a well sounded music is the sense of the melody the fingers of a musician. Also a lot of amazing songs are writen and performed on classic piano, fender rhodes and hammond organ. Also old instruments means less polyphony but more sound quality volume

    "Combi sounds" is a key word here. The keyboard split can be mapped to various patches on the Korg TR-Rack...,so we heard an acoustic bass with a fairly decent jazz guitar on the top...,I wish you had named your patch "combi's"...,but anyone with 90's ears can probably figure them out...,still, it was a good tour of the unit...,thanks

    • @SynthManiaDotCom
      @SynthManiaDotCom  Před 6 měsíci

      It literally says "A few Combi patches on the Korg TR-Rack, the module version of the classic Korg Trinity." in the description, I suppose you didn't read that. Also, the red LED for "Combi" is lit in the video - not the "Prog" - indicating that "Combi" patches were used throughout.

      @robertailman5092 Před 6 měsíci

      @@SynthManiaDotCom . I did read your description as a matter of fact - I wasn't aware, however, that this synth has over 100 preset "combi's" available - but, I certainly wasn't criticizing you...,these keyboards, even though they're out-dated have a lot to offer. Most of the YT videos I've seen can't possibly deliver a comprehensive in-depth look into all the features available. I really appreciate what you presented here.

      The two instruments are completely different from each other, although both have a 32MB ROM sample.
      TR Rack Access, Triton HI sound generation is used.
      The TR rack is a brighter, more fiery and wilder iron. I think it's a real rock instrument. Triton is more popular.
      I've had four or so of these (TR racks) in the past decades, when I felt that they were out of date, I sold them, but after 1-2 years I start to miss them a lot, and I have to buy one. I just bought my fifth TR rack box.

    What kind of keyboard stand is that to where you can have your rack so close?

    Greetings Synthmania and fellow Korg TR-Rack owners/users!! Is there a way to edit the inner parameters of the TR-Rack via midi cc change from my behringer BCR2000 midi controller? I'm not talking about the usual parameters shown in implementation charts though.. I'm talking about things like osc settings,amp settings, filter settings, asdr and such.. I have several MIDI implementation charts for the TR-RACK but I am not sure how to apply the parameter data to my setup since it appears in hex format and not cc# format. The BCR2000 would shine a whole new light on this unit. Would anyone be so kind as to help me decipher this MIDI Implementation data or better yet show me what I may have looked over in my setup?

      I took a look at the trinity midi implementation chart, and looks like all the patch parameters can be edited using midi system exclusive (sysex). The bcr2000 can learn sysex values by 'listening' to sysex messages sent by the trinity when you adjust a patch parameter with the value wheel on the unit. I have set up presets on the bcr2000 for the korg dw8000 and the roland alpha juno that way

    THanks for the vid, I've been looking for a Midi controller ( Preferably with Keys ) to fully control an older Hardware rack rompler such as Roland JV/XV Series which would enable me to Save my favorite Patches/Layers/combis also control the Parameters and filters on the Fly when Playing " LIVE " on stage I'd like to be able to switch favorite Patches , anybody has experience , thoughts ?

    Great demo. You really make the module shine due to your musical playing skills. When you play side tot side with (for example) a recent rompler you can hear it is getting out dated. At the other hand...wahts is out dated. If you can make good and emotional music with it! Its all about the skills of the musisican/producer who uses its.

    Can you make your own patches with this?

      @bellinghammond Před 3 lety

      you can combine the patches into combis and tweak filters, eq's, reverbs, modulation etc but it's kludgy to do so
