As everyone says it is a must to watch the explanatory video for this song. There are 2 videos and I think it's best to watch both cause they complement some missing info in each of the videos. But if you need to choose one I recommend the video created by the Italian ARMY. I can't give you any spoilers but I just want to give Kudos to this Italian ARMY who actually went to SK to do research.
When you watch the explanation, keep tissues handy and stop when you need to. The reality behind the song is brutal.
Please watch these two explanation videos to understand the depth of this song. It is a horrific true story that will anger and sadden you. BTS was actually put an a political blacklist for their stand on the situation. (Per one of the explanation videos.)
Did you notice that Hobi sang the whole baritone and low harmonies when the 4 Singers had their verses? He actually sings through the whole Song in harmonics in the Studio Audio but didn't have Solo lines on the Studio Track, so he got some of RM's line, so he gets to do Solo Parts Live. I'm so glad you hear the song without the video first. This song was written by RM and talks about lost friendship and missing someone. Then, they did the MV and the MV is based on the Sewol Ferry tragedy. So sad. But there is the misconception that the song was written about the tragedy and that's not true.

Ever since I learned the meaning behind this song, I cannot listen to this song without some tears in my eyes. This is so sad but hopeful at the same time. The music video is deeply connected to the meaning too. This song is one of the proofs that BTS is not just an entertainment. They are not there for money or fame. They create music to heal people and make people happy.
BY the way, like you it kills me when JK and Jimin sing and dance back to back. JK is my ultimate bias and Jimin is my ultimate wrecker:)

DO NOT watch an explanation video before you watch the official music video. It is one of their most magnificent videos and it's full of beautiful symbolism.

The choreography is so beautiful and everyone dance it so well but it totally fit Jimin bcoz it is his style of dance. I love ot so much. It gives a melancholic feels.

I think its still worth watching the official mv and the explanation video. There is a very special message/theory about this song. This song is beloved by everyone in SK. This is the longest charting song in SK history and has never left the charts since it dropoed in 2017.
I also highly recommend going into J Hope's Solo stuff, he is the top charting Solo Act out of South Korea and most followed and listen to Solo Male Idol on Spotify, he broke Records from western Artist with Hope World aka his Mix Tape. I recommend Piece of Peace it explains his Name and Blue Side by J Hope it's about the Person behind it. Also, Daydream, Airplane.

After you watch the explanation to the song, you will cry each time hearing the song, I definitely do each time.
In some videos more than others, the visuals and choreo more strongly suggest the motion of the ferry (hanging onto straps, being tossed from side to side, looking like floating/falling through water) or blown on breeze like petals or dust. One version also has a mini review of past choreos in the coda (4 beats each, you can recognize I Need U among others) -shared remembrance of our times together. This is part of their genius, that every version deepens our connection to the song and to our shared experience of it.

As everyone is saying, this songs holds a special place for us... the song by itself is about missing but with the video it becomes very very political. With that video they spoke against their government but in a subtile way to avoid being blacklisted of all media (has happend with a lot of people). Really resumed.. a ferry full of kids was sinking and the ferry crew scape alone and instructed the kids to not move, the government cover that up in media by saying all kids were already safe when in reality they didn't save anyone and even stop civilians who wanted to rescue the kids. The kids end up dying slowly of suffocation... it was horrible...
Years later a blacklist was made public, a list full of all artists who showed support for the families of the victims or spoke against the government... all those people where banned of all media for that...
There's explanation videos breaking down the mv and all the references to that tragedy, they are long if you dont want to react is ok, but I would still recommend you watch it someday :)

BTS are always better in live performances. But their MV are piece of arts, too. And Spring day MV is a very meaningful video. The song is about loss and grief, but the MV "not so hidden message" refers directly to a korean national tragedy (at a time when médias and artists can't openly talk about it without being blacklisted by the government) . Because of this MV, the song itself is becoming an anthem for most Korean citizen, and is still in the charts today, so many years after. The choregraphy and the setting is the live perf are also about the Sewol tragedy. So I hope you will react to the MV and the explanation video by Italian Army (and maybe, after that, checking the dance practice) . It's needed to really understand a part of BTS history and impact , and why ARMY is so emotional about this song. But spoiler, it's heartbreaking, so get the tissue ready. (and sorry for my bad grammar, english is not my mother langage and I do a lot of fault specially when I'm tired)

I really REALLY wish you'd react to the Spring Day MV. It's way beyond what you'd imagine it to be especially after you watch the explained videos by the Italian army and bulletproof vibes!!! The MV basically hints at the Sewol Ferry tragedy that happened in Korea. It's a tribute to those who lose their lives and if you realise the amount of symbolism and attention to detail that went into the MV and lyrics it will BLOW YOUR MIND away. I cried and still cry every time I listen to Spring day.
