    Jerry, just a tip for when you left your card in the machine too long and it sucked it back in. Press cancel transaction and the card will come back out again. If someone saw you have your card sucked in and you walked away, they could press cancel transaction and they will have your card

    • @JerryBrownTravels
      @JerryBrownTravels  Před 2 lety +2

      I didn't know that and thank you I wonder if that would've worked for me because I had already received the money did not received my card back. No please let me know.

      @HamiltonRb Před 2 lety +8

      @@JerryBrownTravels Since you left the card in and it swallowed your card, by pressing cancel it stops the second transaction. The first one is already completed and you have your money.

    This happened to me a week ago. A guy walked by me and I felt something on my neck. I had my dog leash in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. I turned to see what and a women flapped her arms and pointed to the sky. The man was walking back and offered a pad of tissue. I declined and went inside my house. Nothing was available to be lifted. I carry a zippered bag with the strap across my body. Grrr.

      @@scottward1002 Exactly!! Many years ago, I was waiting my turn in a small elbow to elbow crowd to mount a city bus, (Los Angeles, Wilshire Bl. afluent neighborhood), when a man asked me did that particular bus stop on a particular street. For some strange reason, I lowered my eyes to the tote I was carrying on my arm, and low and behold, a women's hand and arm was in the midst of lifting the contents out of my bag. I immediately, hollered, "Pick Pocketers Pick Pocketers" while point at both of them. I also pointed them out to the bus driver.
      Another scam is they will plant a wallet that has $$ in it on a bench and will approach the person who finds it, saying some -awardgibberish that will persued the person who 'found the wallet' to fork over money to them.

I only caught her because of her shadow on the pavement. I saw her hand trying to reach in and when I turned around quick she let go of the zipper. Now whenever I go to Key West I don't take backpacks even mini ones anymore.

    Sometimes I carry a dummy wallet - fill it full of expired stuff. Then, I never put stuff in the wallet - I'll have a pocket for the pesos I need. It's unlikely you'll get pick pocketed, but better to be prepared. My Uncle was a high ranking CIA agent, but had his wallet picked in Italy - it was very funny, but I recommend using a dummy wallet. And in Rome, a Romania girls tried reaching in my pocket - I tightly held her hand as I stepped on a bus sort of forcing her to get on behind me - Certainly, pick pockets are more common in Europe.

    Hello all,
    I did watch the above video about a month ago, and I admit I really didn't think it was a common thing....until it happened to me. I live in Mexico, but it happened to me in Quito Ecuador when I was walking up-hill from the cathedral pulling 2 carry-on bags.
    I'd like to point out that this was a young attractive couple, well dressed, and in no way did I feel threatened, or expect anything weird to happen. The man asked for directions, and apparently sprayed an oily black liquid onto the back of my pants and shirt, and also our luggage after I had turned my back and continued up the hill. The female approached me later up the hill to inform me I had something on my shirt, and offered me a bottle of water. Now, at this point I really didin't think I was being scammed, but something in my brain said to get away from this woman. I quickly crossed the street, and they just vanished. I never took my hands off our luggage. Nothing was stolen.
    Lastly, I was with my girlfriend at the time, but she had made a detour onto a side street to purchase a few items that we needed at our airbnb. So, I believe the couple figured I was alone, and an easy mark. My GF appeared right when I had crossed the street to get away from the female.
    Ecuador is a wonderful country, and I'd highly recommend visiting Quito, but be very careful, and be extra aware of people around you. Enjoy you travels.
