Dealing with a Nappy Horse

I am riding my friends mare she goes to the gate and no matter how many times or how much I turn her away she will then back up next to fence push herself side ways and traps my leg between her and the dance if I push her forward or try and move her she will rear up. Any advice on what I can do there please ?

Amy Graves my pony used to do the exact same, you need to start anticipating her next move think ahead of what she is going to do shorten your reins look away from the gate etc
