    They were pretty popular with New Zealand boaties back in the day, and certainly had a distinctive sound on the water...

      Kevin Sims yeah mate I took mine out last summer on the tender and on my trailer sailer. Should have seen the looks I got from the oldies!

    That's great thanks! I have one in mint condition sitting in my bedroom. Going to get it out this year for sure. Can you imagine trying to market a motor like this now?? Ha! All those exposed moving parts! It'd be a lawyers wet dream...

    Nice rebuild and a first puller which they all are capable of being if properly set up. Only one very important thing missing, a lanyard!
    Slightly worried at the lack of smoke though, what ratio is it set up for?

    Thanks for the video. Yours shows what a Seagull can be - a fine running little outboard in proper tune - not a smoking neglected POS

    How did you connect the red on/off fuel switch to the carb.feed pipe ? Special fitting?

    Not much smoke coming from exhaust, hope you are not running 30:1 , 10:1 for seagulls

    What is the name of the spacer above the lug you have to make a long shaft a standard shaft

      Depth adjusting collar - was a stock British Seagull accessory for the 40 series outboards.
