As a Croat I feel sympathy for Lukaku. Injured, out of form - he still wanted to help his country. Ppl are making too much of his chances. The header wouldn't have counted cause KBD hit the ball when it was already over the line. The stomach hit was a surprise (damn shambolic Lovren missed the header) - nothing anyone could of done with that in a split second. Hitting the post - Gvardiol & co covered the rest of the goal brilliantly. The sitter in front of the goal - Gvardiol was faster to remove the ball in front of him as he would have before any other attacker. The kid is a prodigy defender.

Well then, that means everybody could've taken its place since he couldn't do anything. Several teams have paid more than 300 million dollars for his services. I expect a player of this caliber to be able to score from difficult instances, not just tap ins. Out of that four chances, two would've been converted by weaker players. I find it funny how you try to find excuses and feel sorry for players who get paid millions to kick a ball into the net and fail miserably, yet they face no repercusion for their performances. If I have a couple of bad days at work I am held responsible and nobody feels sorry for me.
I think alot of strikers nowadays need a helping hand up top and they'd explode, Bring back striker partnerships!

The Asian countries supporting one another and defying all odds, the Japanese winning our hearts with their etiquette and manners, Mexicans and Brazilians dancing and singing their hearts out, African countries bringing so much passion, and people from all over the world wearing Qatari traditional clothing.The love, joy, tears, and excitement this cup has brought far outweigh any of our differences. No. Every world cup you have "big" teams going out in groupstage and "little" teams that are not from UEFA or Brazil/Argentina/Uruguay qualifying for knockouts. In fact it's the first time since 2010 that the current champion is not out in groupstage...
But every world cup you have people claiming that "this world cup is unbelievable" as if ALL "big teams" would not fuck up and ALL "little teams" couldn't perform well.
This world cup has nothing special, and the "little teams" will be eaten alive in RO16, at best one can survive to the quarters, but that's it. At the end of the day, the quarter finals at best, the semis at worst, will full European (+Brazil/Argentina)
