  • The making of my 1770's Polonaise. I made this costume at the beginning of the year and forgot until now that I had captured video as well as photographs of the process. I'm not sure that there's enough footage for a walkthrough, so I made a montage instead.
If you're interested in reading in more detail about the making of this costume, check out the following posts from my blog.

That was beautiful. But like everyone else said, it would have perfect if you’d pattern matched the bodice. I loved the shape of the sleeves and the inserted ruffle. Stunning fabric too. Well done. 😊

Just found your channel as well! Looks lovely! I really want to make one myself :D. Little note for the future though (you can take every thing I say with a grain of salt), the front of the bodice the pattern doens't match along the center seam. Maybe try matching the pattern in the future by cutting it in a way where you can get the intricate pattern to match up if possible (so basically a mirrored side)

Thanks for the comment, Kartsie! I wasn't even thinking of that at the time, but that's a great point! I appreciate the feedback. :)

Where did you purchase the fabric? I absolutely love it!

Thank you! I purchased it online from Colonial Williamsburg. They have a wonderful line of reproduction cottons.

I am getting errors playing the video. Could there be something wrong?

It looks great except the bodice center pieces weren't cut to look continuous or similar so it's a little jarring

It would be more accurate to call it a robe a l'anglaise in polonaise style😂

  • @carmenbolumarsanchez7121

Es muy bonito, pero hubiera quedado mejor si el estampado de delante no estuviera descentrado. No se han encarado los dibujos.

I would place a photo of the finished robe in your thumbnail and ditch the distracting music.
