I read a short story about that. A scientist from Russia, if I remember, invented some sort of accurate Lie Detector and they immediately regreted it and just want to destroy their invention. Calling it "a weapon worst than nuke".
And (yes, I'm a weeb), there is an anime that one of the episode tells about a country that had invented mind-reading chip that implanted to each people's brain (not too different than accurate lie detector right?) . Saying that with that invention, human could just communicate without talking. And oh boy, what a disaster it was.
