The old guy at the gas station is Richard Farnsworth. He was also the sheriff in Misery. Also Charon was played by Kevin Peter Hall aka the Predator and Harry from Harry and the Hendersons.
Richard Farnsworth is awesome, I was just re-watching that super lame yet awesome remake of "The Getaway" with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger (as well as Michael Madsen and James Woods) and I had forgot he shows up at the end of that movie.
I think there needs to be another category for a movie like this, because I don’t think it’s fair to call it “shit” because it’s too competent and genuinely entertaining in a lot of parts. Maybe “So Close to Good” or “Almost There” or something.

Jerry Lewis was an American comedian, actor, singer, filmmaker and humanitarian. Wasn't the one who married his young cousin Jerry Lee Lewis, the famous American musician from Louisiana ?
I've seen this one!! But I didn't remember there were so many currently-known actors in it - wow... And the hot blonde in the bustier/dress after the part where you said "the gun looks dumb" is rocker Lita Ford!
The old gas station man from this is fantastic as the lead in David Lynch's "The Straight Story". Also, the waitress in the scene with Jerry Stiller is his wife Anne Meara. And the hitchhiker is Lita Ford!
This film is a cult classic and very entertaining. Like Split Second it comes sooo close to working. The Jerry Lewis you're thinking of is Jerry Lee Lewis the singer. The Jerry Lewis mentioned in the movie is one worked with Dean Martin and had telethon for years. He's in The King of Comedy with De Niro
I love this flick. I saw this on Showtime in the 90s so I think it was a straight to cable release. BTW, I believe your talking about Jerry Lee Lewis that married his under age cousin not Jerry Lewis. 😂
I'm disappointed guys. . . You recognized Ben Stiller's dad right off the bat, but then his mom shows up a second later (she was the waitress behind the bar), none of y'all noticed!
@@JasonBrantThey were a well known comedic duo back in the 50's and 60's. Maybe not quite as famous as Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin were, but then again you kinda botched that one up as well!!! ;)
This movie did not get a theatrical release, but went direct to video. At least in the U.S. Keep in mind this was the time when a lot of movies that would have gone into drive-ins ended up as DTV, and seeing a movie like this - good acting, decent production values, fun story - was completely blowing away any expectations one had after the umpteenth Full Moon release. I still love it to this day. It's just sad that it's remained such an obscure title. It always comes up in my list of favorite b-movies.
