- The very true story of the German reunification :-)
In today's crisis turmoil, it might even appear credible at some point...
----------------------------------------
Anlässlich des Jahrestages der DDR
trat Erich Honecker am heutigen Tag...
von all seinen Ämtern zurück.
Was?
Unsere Freunde in aller Welt
seien versichert, dass der Sozialismus...
(Denis) In seiner Rede auf dem Empfang
zur Feier des Jahrestages der DDR...
im Palast der Republik begründete
Erich Honecker seinen Entschluss damit,
Erich Honecker gratulierte...
dem neuen Generalsekretär des ZK der SED
und Vorsitzenden des Staatsrats der DDR:
Was, der Jähn?
unseren blauen Planeten...
begeisterte immer wieder
viele Menschen aus aller Welt.
Vielleicht haben wir unser Ziel
manchmal aus den Augen verloren.
Doch wir haben uns besonnen.
Sozialismus heißt nicht,
sich einzumauern. Sozialismus heißt,
auf den anderen zuzugehen,
mit dem anderen zu leben. Nicht nur
von einer besseren Welt zu träumen,
sondern sie wahr zu machen.
sondern sie wahr zu machen.
Ich habe mich daher dazu entschlossen,
die Grenzen der DDR zu öffnen.
(Denis) Schon kurz nach der Maueröffnung
haben Tausende Bürger der BRD...
die Möglichkeit genutzt,
der DDR einen ersten Besuch abzustatten.
(Jubel)
Viele wollen bleiben.
Sie suchen nach einer Alternative...
zum harten Überlebenskampf
im kapitalistischen System.
Nicht jeder möchte bei Karrieresucht
und Konsumterror mitmachen.
Nicht jeder ist für die
Ellenbogenmentalität geschaffen.
(Gesang) So ein Tag,
so wunderschön wie heute...
(Denis) Diese Menschen wollen ein
anderes Leben. Sie merken, dass Fernseher,
Videorekorder und Autos nicht alles sind.
Sie sind bereit, mit nichts anderem
als gutem Willen, Tatkraft und Hoffnung
ein anderes Leben zu verwirklichen.
Wahnsinn.
Beyond the comedy, a very emotional film for the love of a son towards his mother. Wonderful acting.
I cried a lot after the ending
Yes this is such an emotional film for me on so many levels.
RIP Sigmund Jähn (1937 -2019)!
Thomas MM er flog als erster deutscher Kosmonaut ins All
@@eddiegrondin4034 ach echt?Hab ich gar nicht gewusst. xD Ist ja ganz was Neues.
Thomas MM viele Deutsche wissen das nicht!
Indeed
What causes of his death
“Socialism doesn’t mean hiding behind walls, it means reaching to others. Living with others. Not to only dream about a better world, but to make the world a better place.”
This line gets me every time, despite the fantasy played throughout this scene, I still think that for all its flaws, the GDR was a beacon of hope for many. And will remain as such.
Socialism is just a byword for good things. So, everything that's good is socialistic because that's what "the people" would do. It's like when people were saying that nu metal isn't "real metal" because it isn't good.
This brings tears to my eyes and I'm not even German.
One of the most genious film scenes ever.
This scene is pure emotion. So beautiful and moving.
I was a British Army soldier at the time I remember those heady days. The Cold war was over. We were achieving peace in North Ireland. Two wars , that shaped my life as a young soldier, the Cold war and North Ireland were over. I left the Army but stayed in the reserves. I really thought this was it. Finally humanity was going to advance. Then it started to go to shit, bit by bit. was called up for Kuwaite, then Bosnia, then Kosovo, then Iraq and now a never ending War on terror. How did my generation take the greatest price we were given the chance of global peace, and so screw it up for all the next generation, and generations to come,I think we were so used to the comfort of fear global nuclear war with the USSR. When given peace , it scared us and we dumped it for new threats and new comforting fears.
Interesting time to be alive. I was born in Colombia the next year and the most significant thing i remember from those years was the match between my country and Germany in Italia '90.
Sometimes I think the same. Those were so hopefull times, full of possibilities for a better world. It didn't last long.
World has ww3 before 2045. 100%
Bush Jr was an idiot
Now, those nuclear fears have come back, creeping over us like an old and familiar blanket.
She knew that it was a fake
Just look at how she starred his son
I've always thought that too, although to be honest after seeing this a bunch of time I'm not so sure. I'm not sure we're suppose to be sure.
@Svenska Aeroplan Oh right! I totally forgot about his girlfriend telling her everything.
She knows, and she realises how much effort her son has made for her. She realises how much he loves her and is willing to do anything for her.
@@czarpeppers6250 even though Alex's girlfriend told her the truth, the thing is: with the "amazing" daily news report make by Alex. She (the mother) could finally believe, what so ever, she wants to believe. Because for most of the people a news report with famous politicians and a cosmonaut is more credible than an "unbelievable story" from a son's girlfriend.
She knew
SomeoneCrazy2 Nicely put.
The sister was so funny in that scene trying to keep her laughter from coming out.
Scene from an alternate reality where West Germany collapses and joins the DDR and the Soviet Union wins the cold war.
No, the son faked the video for his dying mother
This a tearjerking scene.
Plus with the beautiful GDR Anthem making it more epic!
They should've kept that anthem instead of the mutilated one they have.
it is the national athem of the gdr.
greetings from germany
Happy mother's day, Mutti, wherever you are. Our values live on: Dreaming of a better world, and making the world better.
When you unlock the good ending
Who else thinks Auferstanden aus Ruinen should have been the anthem of United Germany? I never liked Deutschlandlied and the fact that they only sing the third stanza (because of the nationalistic themes of the first two) is somewhat pathetic.
Agreed! Compared to the 3rd stanza Aufstaden aus Ruinen would have been a better anthem simply because unlike only singing 1/3 of a song, you have a whole anthem about over coming your past and looking towards a brighter future
@@MorbidlyObeseChell THANK YOU!!!
Me too!!! I agree on!!! Eu também acho!!!
My problem with the GDR anthem is that it was perverted by the state. I don’t want a hymn that stands for a coutry which persecuted people
@@Sedna063 That's fair. Although, one thing you might interesting is the regime eventually stopped using the lyrics because they began to conflict with the party line. So, in that sense, you could argue the use of the lyrics was a way to defy the regime without having to worry about imprisonment.
This is how GDR should have ended.
Yeah
yea
Touching scene, beautiful
Beautiful film
In 1989 east Germany citizens ran off their happiness
When you really love your mom ❤
1:56 - I am curious whether at this moment Lady in fact realizes that everything was made up :) but she pretended to believe in that, just to honour her son commitment for her and to pass from this world happy
She knew. Alex's girlfriend had told her a short time before the actual events in Germany and that Alex is faking everything. Maybe it doesn't come across that well in the translation, because it's a very short scene. From that time on she was merely playing along and let Alex continue the fakes, because she realised he did it for her.
the good ending
Imagine if the DDR was as good as that speech or as good as its Anthem
That anthem is fire.
@Galina Kaladzhyeva Hahaha not.
@@hrv8008 In the "free" West Germany women weren't allowed to work without their husband's permission until 1977, by which time East German women were doing all the jobs men did - even today there is gender parity in pay in the East but not the West
@@TheRyanHund "In the "free" West Germany women weren't allowed to work without their husband's permission until 1977"
In reality NO husband in the west forbade his wife to work. That was the truth in spite of this law.
@@topspin4456 I agree with you on that. However, there was still that law. Even if it was never used in practice, someone still approved it. Besides, did you know that when germanies united, all GDR woman batallions (yes, there were those) were disbanded, and women were fired. In fact, FRG approved women in service only after 1993.
whats`s the song when sigmmund is talking? sounds good! i love this movie, it`s pretty nostalgic and shows the dark side of the capitalism, love it!
its the anthem of the ddr
auferstanden aus ruin
Risen From Ruins
@@fabianH-hm5vm you all are American puppet states lol
German reunification in an alternative timeline:
Goodbye Lenin!
This movie really emphasised to me just how much germany was suffering all throughout the 20th century and how badly they had to pay for the consequences. The destruction of the Berlin Wall and the German reunification brought to life a germany that could finally breathe again amongst its people.
You're a very stupid person
They brought the suffering after WWII themselves.
Genial film
It kicks ass, With Kratrin Sass!
The English translation is a bit irrelevant sometimes here.
@atento611 that`s the east german anthem ;)
Auferstanden aus Ruinen. I think it's much, much better than Deutschlandlied.
3:00-3:02 The flag is FRG's...
It was also the flag of the GDR until 1960
Alex is a good son.
oh nein
When men cried…
But Germany united in 1990.
the west rather annexed the east...
Agree.
yes but the wall opened in 1989
Some people who were used to the authoritarian system in the GDR went to Belarus and or Russia or other authoritarian countries. People who have went to the GDR to Russia would See Vladimir Putin in TV.
Bullshit and nothing to do with the video. However there was a not small amount of people to want the DDR to continue existing but without communism.
