Short version: Mobil1 Racing 4T [10w-40] has 1200ppm phosphorous/1300ppm zinc. Most bikes will be happy with this oil. Ducati and some other v-twin engines seem to like the Mobil1 V-Twin [20w-50] formula with 1600ppm phosphorous/1750ppm zinc. Why zinc? Because roller style valve systems [that don't need more than about 800ppm] mean more weight, more space, bigger springs... all a problem to motorcycle engines.
in my considerable experience, over the decades, anything labeled with the term “racing “, is not really for the long haul. It is for a short duty cycle. Racing tires, they’re only good for two or three heat cycles, if that, racing, spark plugs, they have such a thin electrode wire, smaller than a thin piece of spaghetti. That’s because they’re only Design for a short term duty cycle.. does this oil since it is designated as racing oil, does it have an additives package with anti-corrosion protection? Anti-foaming, does it have increased, zinc and phosphorus and molybdenum in the additives package to withstand the severe environment that a motorcycle transmission subject oil to? no car engine, no truck engine subjects oil to hearing that takes place in motorcycle transmissions with the gears meshing scraping against each other, sheering the oil, in many cases exceeding 100,000 psi motorcycle engine oil does not get near the temperatures of automobile oil. You may think your motorcycle engine gets hot and you may think the oil gets hot as a result. That’s only because you are closer to it. Nothing punishes oil like a car on a 90+ degree day stuck in rush-hour stop and go traffic… I have used nothing but mobile one oil in my cars and trucks for decades ever since the late 70s when it first hit the market advertised as the once a year 25,000 mile oil. That was their original sales pitch. I still use mobile one in my wife’s car, in my ram pick up. The correct weight, according to my owners manuals, and I change it once a year. I let the oil get as hot as possible driving for at least an hour, and I let the oil drain overnight to be sure that all of the sludge that is stirred up and contained in the oils detergent will drain. Going to your dealer or one of those quick oil change places, they do not let the oil drain for more than a few minutes, and sometimes they may change the oil when the engine is relatively cold, because it had been sitting for a couple hours. So you’re not going to get the particles of grit gum, salt acid, metal particles, and corrosion to drain out. They are just going to settle back in the sludge in the bottom of the oil pan… so I am very particular about oil and oil changes. And I need to know if this racing mobile one oil is suitable for long-term use, or is it a racing product which is only used once Sanchez in a Formula One car. I’m sure they do not go more than one race on each fresh charge of oil.

What kind of oil would you recommend for an RE classic 350 bs4 engine-Semi synthetic as recommended by RE (As you know RE now uses semi Synth liquid gun oil mfg by HP) or a fully synthetic oil? Also which brand's oil would you recommend based on your vast experience? Another question is----I have gone through my owners manual which recommends a top up every 5000 kms and a full drain and change every 10000 kms (updated to me by authorised RE service advisors) However based on my riding experience with semi Synth oils I change the oil (drain fully) every 3500 kms at most as I start seeing a marked decrease in pulling power of the bike. Also I find that my gear shifts are better when the oil is drained fully when compared to just topping up like the service centre used to do before. In the past 10 months or so since my last oil change, I have clocked just 2050 kms approx after using gulf 15w50 synthetic technology oil. Should I change my engine oil now as it is already more than 10 months or can I run my bike with the same oil upto around 3.5k kms before changing?
