  • Walking in a 10 foot terminator cosplay. Big cosplays can be fun, but they are a lot of hard work to build and also to wear and require a literal crap load of help at events to get suited up and to move around. Without our helpers, we are nothing.
    Thank you to all the people that came to help me on this day!

      @@zacharykoplin6543 Incorrect. a standard space marine WITHOUT his power armor is around 7ft tall, in his power armor he is around 8 ft tall(primaris are bigger) . terminator is indeed about 10ft tall according to official cannon.

    For anyone wondering, this armor design in particular is from Warhammer 40k Space Hulk: Deathwing. Its Barachiel's Terminator armor. Part of the Dark Angels chapter's 1st Company, Deathwing.

      @@blazednlovinitI believe it's because this space marine would have served in the death watch, a part of the ordo xenos which itself is a part of the inquisition, its not uncommon for former deathwatch members to wear a death watch pauldron after "leaving" (i'm not 100% how you would leave but I know it does happen)

      to scale would actually be that the smaller spacemarine dude is actually a regular imperial guard, ( a normal human), and that the dude in the terminator armor is actually the size of a spacemarine.. meaning actual terminators etc are far larger... primarchs would then also be larger... remember spacemarines are not normal people..

      @@duckdictator6531 Terminator is supposed to be the largest practical for ships corridors, yes you could fit dreadnoughts in the larger areas of a ship like Hanger Bays and Cargo bays but it wouldn't be able to navigate normal corridors. Centurion armour is a suit of armour that is worn over the top of a a normal suit of Power Armour and makes them roughly halfway between a Terminator and a Dreadnought. Centurion armour is supposed to be an adaptation of civilian mining equipment and specialises in burrowing into a base or breaking through Ferrocrete (concrete analogue) walls.

    It makes you realize just how absolutely terrifying Astartes would be in real life.
    Imagine this going 40 km/h at you with a lovechild of a Machinegun and a Granade Launcher in one hand and a 7 feet long sword in the other. Bullets not even scraping the surface of its armour and only the anti-tank weaponry having SOME effect.

      Edim 108 yeah but no way he could go at more than 10 kmph lol :D even with real servo engines, legs cant move freely ur a human tank, they have teleport device in the game for that, its the only real way for them to speed up, or land raider APC transport

      @@java20422 40 km/h is well within the ability of unaugmented humans to move(Usain Bolt goes 43km/h), so an 8 ft tall superhuman with neural implants to let him move his armor as if it were a second skin being able to go that fast sounds quite reasonable.

      @@braith117 Standard Astartes power armour can move a quite a pace (up to about 100km/h, depending on source), but Terminator armour is nothing like as agile. It's originally derived from hazardous environment suits, and in military service, it is meant to tank hits, not dodge

      @@Becosplayforge he definitely was. He's armor, altho amazing, was made to be practical and was shaped on he's body size in order to keep movement and to be comfortable. So yeah, it sacrificed scale for movement and comfortability. Still epic tho.

    I spoke to a swedish cosplayer back in 2019, who did Deathwatch SM. When asked in the public Q&A about how many persons he needed to get into the suit he answered "When I started - 4. Now - 1. Once I tried to get into my suit on by myself, and ended up calling my neighbours to find someone to get me out" (he succeeded, but it must have led to future "interesting" meetings with that Samatarin).
    Unfortunally I had a new smartphone at this moment, so I "thought" that I recorded this cosplayer walking around. He walked surprisingly silent, so some parentals really jumped when he suddenly appeared, almost 8 feet (230 cm) tall, beside them. Unfortunally all that is lost to [subject redacted]

Some, indeed, don't, such as Tyberos the Red Wake from the Carcharodons chapter, who is known for being both huge and never removing his armor, not even once.

      Which is why they have servants and machines who dress them up. Even the "ordinary" space marine, let alone a terminator. They are the main characters through which eyes we see the world, but they are everything but ordinary. They are on the level of a lord in medieval sense, where they have an entire retinue that tends to them once they prepare for combat. And yes, they do get out of that armor... though not as often as other troops. Simply because, with the addition of Black Carapace, they don't even feel it as armor, to them it is second skin.
