Alright, Alex. You have to tell us how you have time for your full-time job, making videos, having a family of four, AND spending 10-20 hours a week to take these certifications. Maybe you should do a video on your time management skills. 😁
Haha I actually did make a video on that, but only released it for my Patreon supporters :) Maybe one day I'll make one for everyone else - I do agree - sometimes I don't know how I do it myself. I stay busy lol
Honestly😂😂😂😂
Yes I agree!! Time Management skills!
@@AlexTheAnalyst Have you looked at the new CompTIA Data+ Certification yet? I think that would make for a good video to add to the course comparison.
make use of any free time, sell your family and have them on board. Depending on your situation, go to bed a little later, or get up a little earlier. For some people its massive investment of time over a short period. For others its short chunks over a longer period.
Heck yeah, I really agree with your recommendation in pairing the Google Cert with some other Python cert. It seems a lot of people are upset with Google over their choice for language, but I like to look on the bright side and think this will help you appreciate Python more :P Great content as always Alex!
Thanks man! Loved your video on this topic as well :) Maybe Google just wants all the R users for themselves so they'll hire everyone who finishes this certification?? I was/still am upset, but I'm willing to overlook this misstep because of all the other benefits.
@@AlexTheAnalyst Awe thanks! Your videos on the in-depth analysis of both the certificates were definetly inspiration for my video so thank you!
Yeah I am just so confused on why Google chose R as well! Like you, I've been seeing a lot of complaints from people on the R choice. Maybe if we sollicit enough complaints google will concede and swith/offer python. haha!

Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future
I'm actually doing the Google UX design certification and as a teacher myself, the way Google teaches is super effective. The humans help and the variety of activities keeps you focused. My eyes don't glaze over.
When you look at the side by side comparison lining up the tech stack against each other, BigQuery vs DB2, Tableau vs COGNOS the Google Cert has better real world application. Outside of the R vs Python argument there's a stronger knowledge base in the Google Cert overall. Plus let's be honest, what you're really paying for is the post certification support. Resume prep, interview practice, help with portfolio work, this is the bread and butter. With the IBM cert, you complete it and that's it.
I’m literally working at a retail store for 8 years now .. trying to figure out what to do with my life. I’ve came across your videos. Think I might try and see if data analyst for me. Doesn’t hurt to try. 🤞
U should know Mathematics too for applying it to Practical stuff Mostly & also Should have good Analytical and Reasoning after Maths .
I realize it's a cliche, but you might also consider learning to code. I recommend Python, which is a good skill to have on its own but would also complement Data Analytics/Data Science if you go that route. There are many extremely cheap courses online. Some are even free. Important thing is to stop languishing in a vocation that no longer suits you, particularly one like in-person retail, which has a very uncertain future.. As you age, time speeds up. Don't waste it.
Take it. I took the IBM data analytics course and had a job as a BI analyst(Not junior BI analyst) after 3 months.

I really like the Google Certificate. It's a good mix of videos, readings, quizzes, and hands-on activities that really prep you for an entry-level position.

I’m in the second Google course right now. I was already enrolled in an Excel certificate, so when that’s done I plan on taking a Python course.
Thanks Alex ! I was too confused as to which one to take , after seeing this video , I have all my doubts cleared.
I'm working through the Google course right now, about halfway through Class 3, and I'm also enjoying the more personal presentation style. It makes things feel more approachable. Really looking forward to getting to the SQL course now!

Thanks for the video! Going to start my Google cert this week! Data Analysis has always been my passion.
Very cool! Good luck!
So super helpful. As someone whose an all in beginner. The person talking to me thing is huge! Thank you. I do hear you that I'll still have to learn Python anyway
Hi Alex, Thanks for this video! I was doing the Google Python cert, but I will also add this cert as well. Cheers
honestly a very short and informative video. Great!
Proper comparison and as always loved the usage of words
Thanks for the review Alex, helps a lot!
About the differences in the content and skills you learn in both, you point out the R vs Python which is huge and important to be aware. Do you have anyother comment on content/skills differences? I am thinking more on software tools. One that I just noticed checking their syllabus is the absence of Tableau in the IBM certification, at least I don't see it in the courses decription. You have taken the IBM so please let me know if I am rigth about it. I feel that Tableau is very popular and versatile so I would consider this a significant negative point (... what do you think?)
Have you seen any other difference in content in the sense of tools, software you learn?
I apprecite you opinion Alex, thanks!
I was leaning towards the google cert and then I watched your video and it made me EXCITED for the google cert. Off I go to sign up!
Sally was absolutely great. That was easily one of my favorite sections in the course, and she was easily one of the best instructors on it.
Please can you tell me the name of the course. I wanna take her too. I see some many data analysis course and idk which one.
I can't find her
@@nemuelpaiva3738 Ayo you wanna take her? 😳
Thanks! Been thinking about this for weeks.
Good info. I just started course 3 in the Google data analytics. I subbed.
Thanks a lot for this video. I was just looking over both courses going "gee, which one to choose..or start with.." I'm going to watch the full review videos you did as well. Thanks for help making this clear, I find Coursera can sometimes be a bit overwhelming in their course description. The use of buzzwords, the "everyone can do it" attitude makes it seem like they want to lure your through a closed door. It would help if there were a few videos in every course that are free to watch, just to get a sense of what it has to offer. But none of that can be helped by you, so thanks a again for the comparison!!
Smiled when i saw Tony in your video.... Doing the Google Data Analytics Certification. Waiting on coursera to approve my financial aid for second module. Nice course wrt to the first module
Just started the Google certification course! Enjoying it so far
You are right Mr. Alex , big Hello from Egypt , Best Regards.
I am just about finishing my data bootcamp by Trilogy Ed and we learnt python heavily through the bootcamp. Thinking of doing the google analytics certificate as well.
Currently taking the Google analytics course and stumbling onto this video, I feel more determined to finish my course.thanks alex
I am on Sally's course now and I love her very much!!!

thanks for the video, I want to go into investment banking, but I always like to know relevant topics/skills so if I'm pitching something to a team, in this case, a coding team/ or working with a coding/tech client I understand the product, I would imagine that python is more commonly used so will go with the IBM one :)
I would say do both :) I learned R and Python in college and they both good usage to it. Man, once i am done with python, i wanna try Google Analytics. Thanks for the recommendation 🎉
Great Insights Alex, I agree with you as I am doing both so can understand the comparison u made. And seriously the professor in Course 4 of Google - Sally.....she's really great, her teaching style and spirit is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Helle Harsh. Please can you tell me which one is better ? No considering the teaching style, when you focus more on the content, which one seems complete to you?
@@efouaboeessiomley8968 Hello
Considering the fact that both Google and IBM uses their own technologies for various things like IBM uses Cognos for Visualization and in similar way google uses their own BIGQUERY for SQL ...so both are bit centered towards using their particular technologies. No doubt Google has made a good course will all round development as Data Analyst and good case studies...still I feel the Hands-onn practice of IBM course was more better than the Google ones....I IBM u cannot suprass Practice session without actually doing it and they also have assesment included in every course which is fun to solve.....so I'll suggest to do both of the courses if time permits...hope this helps! :)
I signed up for the google cert because of your videos. I really am enjoying it so far, and learning allot. Cant wait to get to the programming with R, table, and sql sections.
Hie did you finish the Google certification?
@@chikomborerod512 No I did the first 3.5 modules but didnt end up completing. I would say the content is very good, its just a very long and thorough program, which is a good thing! I didnt have the time to do while taking classes at the same time. I probably will come back and complete the rest of it eventually though!
Today I started watching your video, because I want to become a Data Analyst, now I'm finishing the profesional course at IBM ( I liked it too much, it's being great) after this one, I'll take the Google course. Both can be very helpful to me as I'm novice at this.
Thank you so much bro!
Sally has been my best tutor thus far in the Google certification as well. She's truly very passionate about SQL
Graduating with my degree in Information Systems this May. Found my passion creating databases and developing query's using SQL and creating visual dashboards using Tableau. Recently began searching for entry-level Data Analyst positions and the competition seems fierce. Although I have several years of professional sales experience, most recently selling office technology and software. My resume is lacking the skills recruiters for D.A. are looking for. Therefore, I just enrolled in the Google Certificate course, I'll try and keep y'all updated on my journey.
so how did it go
what's up
Awesome. You make things really easy for beginners. I really appreciate it.
Been waiting for your ideas on this matter! Could you also compare this Professional Certificate of Google with the one for Data Analyst provided by IBM, and perhaps your recommendations also?
One more suggestion is that could you make another video for which Python course you think is best pairing up with this Google certificate, if one aims to take one?
Thank you so much for the informative videos as always, Alex!
I think he dropped a list of recommended courses in the video's description.
I'm a mathematics major, and the R part in the program will help with my college classes as well. R is used in many of the advanced statistics classes I'll be taking, and having an intro to it here first hand makes me real happy 😂
Thanks a lot for the video Alex :)

Thank you so much for this Alex!!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Alex For your valuable recommendation.
Hi Alex, thanks so much for introducing the Google Data Analytics Certificate program to us. I completed all 7 courses plus the capstone project to obtain the certification. I started around March 18th so it feels good to successfully finish it. I spent many hours the last 6-7 weeks going through the courses so it does involve a certain amount of commitment but it is worth it since I learned quite a bit about best practices in data analysis. I was a bit skeptical about R since I have been using Python but now I have a very basic understanding of R as well. R wasn't too hard to pick up since it also uses packages and data frames similar to Python. There are some differences in syntax as to be expected. Thanks again for bringing the program to my attention.

Hey Alex, just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. You have been the kick under my a** that I needed to get started with becoming a Data Analyst. I am on week 3 of the Google Data Analyst course and loving it. I have enrolled in IBM one before the Google course was released. I'm now in the 4th part course called Python for Data Science, AI and Development. I have to say the exercises are much far away from what they taught me with examples. There is such a very big gap I have to say and all I can do is to take lessons from Datacamp in order to understand deeply those exercises of IBM. Frankly speaking, I do think they need to restructure the lesson as it's quite hard to catch up the idea of exercise without any glues @@
Feeling a little bit regret now... if only Google course is released earlier :(

Hey Alex. Big fan. Awesome video. How does the Google data analytics certification compare with the data analytics or data science track on datacamp? Thanks
Thanks for this review Alex! Question for everyone taking the google cert currently:
Do the classes pick up as you get further into the certification? It seems a bit slow at the moment (even with videos at 2x speed) . A big upside of this course is that is has all the necessary skills aggregated in one place. I think I just learn better from reading documents with exercises (instead of videos).
