Nice finds! I hope you get to polish up some slabs and cut a few primo cabs outta yer besties. Gems on the beach ripe fer the pickin! Way ta go captivatin da yutes with a great hobby!
Just discovered your channel recently and I'm enjoying learning about the wonderful world of rock hounding. It must be so satisfying to find beautiful rocks on the beach and know you can see what's inside! I'd enjoy seeing just the rough cut specimens available in the shop. Being able to see the outer rock verses the inside would make a lovely display piece.
Yeah that critter around the 16:00 mark is quite striking, very beautiful. Unique. Glad to see you using the new saw, makes my fingers feel safer LOL. Conversely if you seen the way I use power tools on my wood creations you’d wonder if I have any fingers left! It’s all about experience I guess. Cheers from Truro
Yep the new saw is pretty hands off. But im still ok to use the lapidary blades for cutting. They cant hurt your fingers. The saws you use for wood working however, yikes!
@@RockhoundingLife oh, I know lapidary blades are safer, but still get that knee jerk reaction to seeing fingers near a blade like that. I’ve never cut myself with a blade in all the years I’ve worked with them, but oddly got myself good one time with a belt sander lol. Sucked the heel of my hand into it quite nicely! Of course I wasn’t using it like intended. I think the worst power tool accident I ever had tho- ready for a long read? I was inserting screws into a 3/4” copper pipe for a craft I was attempting. This involved holding the copper pipe, getting a self tapping screw on the cordless drill and shoving the screw as hard as I could into the pipe as the drill spun. I had successfully already done about a dozen. Of course this time the screw slipped, and I installed the screw into the heel of my hand, all the way. One full inch. Dropped the drill, battery flew off across the room, I danced about for a minute then I realized the only way to get the screw out was to reverse it out with the drill. So I had to scramble around, find the battery pack and reinstall it in the drill. Then I was able to back the screw out. Odd sensation, that. It probably took about three months for all the swelling and the deep infection to settle….good times!
