Groomer tip. When using scissors, you can insert a small metal grooming comb between skin and fur that is being trimmed. That way, scissors have no way of cutting skin. Cat skin can tear easily, like paper, if it is nicked. Beautiful sweet kitty. Great trimming work.
Ohh that's genius! My cat gets impatient because I take too long but I am just trying so hard to avoid his skin and he moves a lot so I am going to try this. Thank you for sharing this trick!

I use baby scissors😂……But all in all, groomer with even the best tools can be a challenge when only one person is doing it.

Thanks for this and especially the scissors tip. I tried to do this alone, even the burrito and my cats just hissed and cried (and they are usually super calm). Eventually put some treats in front of them and snuck behind them and trimmed them while they were eating- worked like a charm. No cries, and they didn’t even realise! At one point one of them looked at me and just went back to eating her treats. Just a tip for anyone who is still struggling. 😊

Thanks for this! I have a chubby, fluffy cat who always has to get “bum baths” that turn into “entire body baths” because he squirms some much. Tonight my daughter and I successfully trimmed him using scissors. He didn’t like it, but I think with time it will get easier.

I love hitting the like button for every video. You give good info and kitty eye candy :-) I had to bath my cat after a long car trip, moving house. There was very little fur that was NOT covered in poo, and he just sat in the warm water and let me clean him. No fuss at all. I think when they reach that stage, they know we will help them, and the trust was something that really touched my heart. I cried after it actually, because of the trust and he obviously knew I would know how to help him. That was so touching
I rescued a Maine coon at 8 weeks old whose mom got caught in a trap and taken for 2 days to be fixed. While she was gone, her babies went hungry and when she returned, she couldn't feed them as her milk wasn't enough anymore. We don't know if all her babies lived because we only found 2 when she brought them to a neighbors house to get food that she puts out. But anyways, he has long hair and he was filthy and covered in ticks so I know that feeling you felt when bathing him. Mine did not fuss or fight it either, he knew I was helping him. Love is a universal language!
You can see that you have a lot of love for pixie and Bluebell and you will do anything for them to fell safe like I will do for my cats🐾🐾🐈😻 💖♥️stay safe 💖
My cat goes crazy if I try to trim down there. It takes me a few weeks to get a few cuts while he is sleepy.

I have only had the sanitary trim at the vet. I love it but cannot imagine my cat being so well behaved as yours. She is a rag doll also and will probably squirm and run away and hide. Still I am going to try it!

Wrap him/her up in a towel. you can then adjust to expose the part you are working on. Look it up there are a few techniques but it work very well to avoid being maimed by your furry little friend.

Thank you all! I’ve just adopted two very floofy kittens and having never had fluffys before, the problems hadn’t occurred to me. But I’ve had them home two days and have had to do even more bum baths🙀 I’ll buy the dry shampoo and scissors😽

You both did a great job with this video, and it speaks a lot at how relaxed Pixie and Bluebell are relaxed while you give a trim. I am getting 2 ragdolls the end of July and am learning a bit now to better prepare me. I had a ragdoll last year, and at 6 mths she got fixed and developed FIP. It was fatal. The shock has taken a toll, but I really would love a kitty and the breeder recommends 2 for me to help with all the play time. Thank you for your channel.

I have an older Ragdoll, I adopted him at age 9 when his owner died. He hates the scissors hates being brushed, I tried every kind of brush.. he loves me, and purrs/ kisses but I took him to 2 groomers who said they have experience of ragdoll grooming. He came back today with no pantaloons, and his ruff has been trimmed, yet his inner coat has not been de-shed! I am glad to have found your video. I live on my own. I will enlist help, and next time I will do it myself. Thank you for these videos. I am not an inexperienced cat owner, but I never had a raggy before.

Thanks for the video! I was searching everywhere to see if anyone else trim their cat's but hair. We have a 6mo siberian kitten and we found we had to do that a few weeks ago as her fur gets longer, i couldn't find any info on the internet so thought we were tbe odd one out!

i do trim my bleu's butt area too with no problem.I also cut fur by the paws to prevent her from sliding on my wooden floor and also she steps on her pee/poop sometimes ...and she cooperates very well, she opens her paws out when i do it, its so cute.
I’m aware this comment is 2 years old, but my cat does the same and it is cute. I tickle her all the time! She also has long hair growing out of her feet. I usually leave it for winter, but now she’s sliding across the wood floor as well when she gets the late night zoomies. “FREE THE BEANS FREE THE BEANS!”lol😂

My senior long hair cat has this problem. I had to have the vet give him a sanitary shave back there due to mats. It was not cheap. Now I am hoping I can maintain myself.

I do it when my cat is asleep, but she slept in a funny pose so I accidently also cut the top of her tail and it looks ridiculous 😁 I have to do it again maybe when she is awake cuz she pooped herself again 🙈
I have a Maine Coon that is a rescue/feral cat i adopted. She is now pretty much outdoor/indoor girl , however , she wants very little hand contact , & has problems with her butt-hair/clumps. i,ve been having NO luck. Mabie a whole bath?. i trimmed one big one off , but the scissors sucked ,so im getting better ones. im a a loss. Your cat seems half asleep. My cat is VERY active & nervous.

My Birman today left a trail of poop mashed into the floor from the litterbox all the way into the bedroom. There was even more mashed into her back end. It was way beyond trimming or wet paper towels. Into the sink she went! When she's all dry I'm going to hack some of her hair off. I don't care what it looks like, lol. I've had to do it a few times before & I'm sure I'll have to do it again.

I am still trying to figure out what breed of cat my longhaired Fluffy is. Wish I could add a pic. I am sure a Vet will know on his first visit. I live in a small town and am trying to find a "good" Vet. A worker at a convenience store said he just saw a person open their car door and drop him out. I just couldn't leave him there near a busy highway. He had a collar and had already been "fixed" and guessing about a Teenager. He quickly grew out of his collar and he is so very loving and vocal. Talks all the time. And I do really want to know what treats you use. His butt area needs a trim and so glad you have this video for me to learn how. Thanks for letting me tell my story. And wish me luck in finding a Vet that really loves animals and not just in it to make money.

Hello we have 2 pure white Doll-face Persian kittens- we use Anna’s Naturals face wash and setting powder. Plus we get them groomed professionally. 💩 my fluffa butt (literally what I call him) loves a pat but wants you to walk around the house chasing him for it, hes a diva! 😏 he isn't a fan of being held or cuddled though so I struggle grooming him. You guys made this seem pretty easy though so I think I might give it a crack 😉 fingers crossed!

my Persian cat always rewards me for trimming her paws with poop and pee out of the box she put me only one popo and one peepee every day for several days after the trimming session i am so glad she chooses an egyptian cat to have babies with , her kids are so gentle and happy and friendly also they are short hair , she 🤣🤣 looks always like she’s about to conquer the world, she was really gentle and friendly when she was trying to enter my house now i know why she ended up outside 🤣🤣🤣

I just shave her butt. Its easier for me and faster. But I do it carefully with clippers that are safe. There are some clippers that are meant for pets, but cat cut the skin so you gotta test the clippers on yourself just in case

Oh, wow, the next bit even more so. Please come over and try this with my cat. All these tips are irrelevant when your cat is completely resistant to being put in a position like this.
