KK’s Priest - ‘Sermons of the Sinner’ - 10 new songs available on CD disc, single disc vinyl with bonus CD album, digital download and via streaming - is a musical statement that KK Downing's heavy metal ride is far from over after his extended hiatus. “The whole concept is the fact that I continue proudly to be who I am and what I am and do what I do,” declares Downing. “It's been nearly 10 years. I'm back making music.” Downing assembled former Judas Priest singer Tim “Ripper” Owens, Hostile guitarist A.J. Mills, Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton, and DeathRiders/Cage drummer Sean Elg to create Sermons Of The Sinner.
Downing says the word “sinner” in the album title refers to his famous solo in that classic song of the same name, noting that fans are always hoping for new music to sound like the Judas Priest classics. KK’s Priest's new material is most certainly an homage. They have unleashed an album with a modern sound that hearkens back to what fans have always loved about Downing and his music and which still sounds fresh. The high speed album opener “Hellfire Thunderbolt” offers a fictitious take on how metal arrived before the masses were ready for it. Rousing rockers like “Raise Your Fists” and “Wild And Free” revel in the passion and excess that metal fans embrace. The guitar interplay is intense and inspiring, and the band is firing on all cylinders.

Judging by the lyrics of the first 3 songs from KK'S Priest, these sound more like Judas Priest than Judas Priest has sounded since KK left.
I've been a fan of the Priest since 1980 (I was 10 vyrs old) but they just didn't have that same feel to them lyrically since KK left.
Don't get me wrong, when I first heard Richie Faulkner play I was blown away but I haven't truly enjoyed any new Priest music, Then KK decided to play a show in Nov of 2019 and after seeing the show on CZcams I thought wouldn't it be cool if KK put a band together and put out an album and toured, I'm looking forward to seeing them

In KK's Priest there is vitality, freshness and energy.
In what remains of the Judas Priest there is fatigue; and Faulkner (although very good) is not suited to manage the legacy of Downing and Tipton, he just has nothing to do with the Judas Priest style.
The lyrics in this song look like they were taken from an unreleased Manowar album or something. The song is fine but I find the lyrics to be pretty uninspired. People like Glenn and KK were usually never that great at writing lyrics, just look at Demolition and Jugulator where they did most of the songwriting.

@@raymondlugo9960 That is exactely the problem and why KK keeps getting the same questions over and over again. KK even stated in interviews that JP should just tell people whats going on. Personaly I also want to know whats up as its so dissapointing seeying JP on their 50th without either KK or Glen. At least give a answer on that. Why state KK is retired and not let him come back? And thats the whole point KK is making I guess..JP first telling a untruth about his departure and then being silence about him regarding the 50th. I'm guessing the whole band maybe not in agreement and its mostly Glen/management blocking his return. That or the truth is $$$ which JP will never admit too. One thing is for sure..KK was willing and more than able.

I deleted my last comment from months ago when I first got the album because I wrote this song off as just a useless commercial type hit. However much like the rest of this album even the commercial hits do not lack any bit of heavy metal integrity. This album has absolutely no wasted space, no clunkers. This is without question the greatest heavy metal album released in the past 15 years.

Theres only one comment a true metal head and faithful Priest fan can put here and its this: I've never had more fun being a fan of KK. So far this album slays on all levels. He could have joined some shitty nu metal band but no he grabbed Ripper, possibly metals most brutal vocalist, and is putting out something so special that each song this far gives me goosebumps!! And KK IS 70!!! My God....I'm so dumbfounded, mesmerized, and at awe of all of this.

This is what KK Downing should have been doing right from the start; playing well thought out, melodic leads over inspired and cathchy riffs. Part of the reason why Glenn Tipton is generally favored over him is his melodic awareness and willingness to come up with more memorable licks, not a talent gap on the instrument between the two. KK stubbornly insisted on improvisation and overuse of the whammy bar. He is still my favorite Priest and I always knew how talented he was on the instrument. Most notably, KK's picking technique is quite exceptional (in the whole metal genre) in terms of speed and articulation. He should simply showcase his skills with the right songs as he does here. I love you man, I always have...Godspeed!
