My mom passed away in 2003, this was her favorite song because she was from Amarillo. She loved thinking about going back home where her parents still lived since we were living in Alabama. Every time I hear this song I think of her and smile because she and both her parents are in their new Home together with our Heavenly Father.
Thank You soooo so much for playing this song! It's one of my favorite songs of his. My Daddy taught me to 2 step (Dance) to this song and I later got the Honor of meeting George. Yes, I tried very hard to act mature until we were away from him... I must not have done so, because some of the body guards just grinned at me and waved us through the exit. I didn't even have to pay for a meet and greet session....lol I was in the right place at the exit tunnel of Texas Stadium as he came walking out. One of the guys asked if we needed help and I said no, we were waiting on our ride. He asked how I liked the show I said it was great he asked who my favorite performance of the day was I said Duh! George Straight! He said you want to meet him? I said Duh yes! Five minutes later I was standing beside his limo getting an autograph. It was sheer luck! Lane Frost and Ty Murray were the actual guys the movie 8 seconds was based on and I think Luke Perry is the guy who played Lane in the movie. I was to busy biting my nails and crying thru the movie so I could be wrong about something. LMBO Not,! Here in Texas George is called "King George". He's considered the king of Country Music.
George Strait was also in a movie, called Pure Country. There were a few good songs to come from that soundtrack like Heartland and I cross my heart. You should give those a go after you give THE CHAIR a listen lol you could do an entire night to G S songs and not lose a subscriber.
George got his start at an NCO club at Schoffield Barracks, Oahu. Army doesn’t pay great so he sang to make a little cash. Folks told the troubadour (singer) he needed to be a star and the “King of Country” was born
8 Seconds is one of my favorite movies, and one of the saddest, a based on a true story about bull rider Lane Frost. The video makes me think of the movie, too.
"Tuff Hederman, why he sure is a handsome feller!" "Ok boys, ok[!!" 8 Seconds is one of those movies you can watch a zillion times and never get tired of it.
@Katie Did It Tuff wasn't married to Jewel that was Ty Murray she was married to and no they split several years back if I am remembering right. Tuff is married to and had children with his high school sweetheart and married back in early or mid 80s from what I vaguely remember about it all. I kinda read into it when 8 Seconds came out and I was curious about the whole backstory in a non-Hollywood way but that was forever and 5 days ago. 😂😂
I heard this song In Florida on the country stations, my then girlfriend and I moved there in 1990. We were into the resurgence of country music then. We were married in 1992 and listened to George Strait while we were driving on our Honeymoon to spend at my cousin's ranch, while the rest of family headed to Disney World. Funny how music and smells ingrain moments into our memories forever. She passed in 2010, leaving 3 kids and me behind.
I bawled when he redid this years later with the same video and a lot more experience under his belt. George Strait is one of the finest men out there. 💗
He was so young! About that same time I saw King George, live, at the Stagecoach Inn, in Stamford, Texas. At the time, I didn't know who he was...but he was cute, could sing, and played 2-steppin' music. :-D
When I was in high school, I was in a horse riders club. I was riding a friend's horse on a ride from the little place we lived to the arena where the rodeo was being held and we did the opening riding of the rodeo that day. It is one of my favorite memories.
I have lived in Amarillo, Texas my entire life! I have always loved this song! ❤ Thanks for adding it to your collection of songs that you have reviewed!!! ❤
I was 19, living in Junction City Kansas. Had a baby and no money. We had a small 8 inch tv that we could get the local station that showed events, etc. They would play this song many times a day in the background. I would grab my little boy up and dance and sing to this...Great memory! Thanks.
Several of George's songs made the Shower List. Songs I sang in the shower. This was definitely one of them. "You Look So Good In Love" was another. Long live the king.
90210 tv show your talking about. The 8 Second movie was about Lane Frost. He was a rodeo cowboy killed by a bull at a rodeo. Very heartbreaking. Loved Kiefer in The Cowboy Way. Like that we have lot same taste in music and movies. Subscribed to your channel!
All his songs are amazing 😉 beautiful lyrics. He also starred in a movie Pure Country. AMAZING movie about a burn out country singer who made it big time, but needed to find his roots again. I think you may enjoy it. Thanks as always.
there is a song called *Rodeo* by *Garth Brooks* that I think you'd enjoy cause it's about a woman who understands that even though she worries about him the rodeo will always be part of her mans life
Mulberryman That's an awesome song but it's almost impossible to find an actual Garth video! They're all covers and some are absolutely horrible! They're may be some live performances but I gave up trying to find a Garth video!
Love, Love, Love. Back in the day all the ladies loved him. There is something so attractive about a man who is true to his wife, a gentleman, those blue eyes, and of course his music.
8 Seconds starred Luke Perry and was about Lane Frost. A rodeo man who died doing what he loved. Luke Perry was from Beverly Hills 90210 and passed last year from a stroke. He was in Riverdale on Netflix but they had to write his character off as his passing was sudden.
I remember hearing this song for the first time on my grandmas little radio with one speaker.just love it.George Strait was in a movie called Pure Country, have you seen it? You should❤️
Ahhhh slow down my beating heart... 1st George Strait concert in 1983. Ceasar's at Lake Tahoe, Southside. With my BFF girls night out. She just turned 21, and she her some George Strait. She was a true to life cowgirl, who ride in the Rodeo Barrel racing. It's now over 35 yrs. I think my #1 Favorite of his is from Honkytonkville "I Found Jesus On The Jail house Floor". Hope you can give a shot at it. 💕🙏 Ps... Also suggestion, for all horse lovers out there. Dan Fogelberg "Run For The Roses" about the Kentucky Derby. One of my very favorite of all time. 🏇🐎🌷🌷🌷💗💗💗
I've just been listening to George Straight. One of my favorites is "Carrying Your Love With Me". One of his best in my opinion. Love you MRM. Love your channel and love all that you do. I'm going to send you a link to a great song. It's a gospel but a great one. Maybe someday it'll show up on a reaction video The world truly needs to listen right now. Stay cool and stay you.
Seriously can not go wrong with any of King George! There Is a reason why he is called The King Of Country, he has no bad songs! It would be hard for me to choose a favorite but at the top is The Chair and The Fireman, All My Ex's Live In Texas, Ocean Front Property, and I could go on!
Use to play this and Carrying your love with me. A lot when I was a truck driver. Brings a tear to my eye thinking of the movie 8 seconds about Lane Frost. Thanks for doing this one.
8 seconds doesn't seem like a lot of time but when you're on top of a bucking bull it can feel like a lifetime. I have 3 cousin's that are bull riders and a cousin that's a barrel racer. I'm not a huge new country and western fan but I do like George Straight and Garth Brooks, I grew up listening to the old singers, Red Sovine, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and my favorite Johnny Cash
I've commented on this song with you before. I love this song because it represents a type of country music that doesn't exist anymore. I'm not some old fogie because I understand that times change but this song embodies the 70's 80's and to some extent the early 90's country music that really spoke to the working man and his life.....not the late 90's plus that seems to focus on the suburban south.
also...I'm telling you....listen to Metalingus by Alter Bridge......you've alluded to being a wrestling fan, and I'm telling you, you'll notice and love that song
George was really young in this video. always loved this song, because I liked the fiddle part. I believe George Strait began his singing career singing at the rodeos. Same for Reba mcentire. She sung at rodeos when she was very young. She also did some competing as well.
This is a very special song for my husband and I. And that video was real rodeo. I encourage you to come out West sometime to experience it yourself. Then you will understand the love of rodeo music.
George Strait's wife is Norma Strait. His son is George "Bubba" Strait Jr. His daughter was Jenifer Lyn Strait, she died in a car accident in 1986 at the age of 13.
My wife's favorite singer of all times. I had left the classic country & western music I grew up on for rock. When I meet my wife in 1986 she turned me on to country artists like Strait, Travis and a few other good modern country singers again. Personally I think this was his best song. Maybe it's because he was a cowboy and rodeo rider before he became a famous country artist? Update! Got to thinking. This song is classic country now. Man I'm getting old.
King George’s rise to the Country Throne wasn’t without tragedy. He lost a child in a car accident. He also has an annual rodeo that he participates in. So yes, he’s a real singing cowboy. Tony
"I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine, I ain't rich, but lord I'm free" one of my favorite lines in any song because it sounds nice
I love old country like this. This has to be one of my favorite George Strait.
Music Lover 700 Mine, too.
This is real country not that pop country you hear now
@@htxcowboylovell3978 Well said
The undisputed undefeated reigning king of country and I’m a blues guy
Who knew in 1981 this young man would one day be known as King George. I fell in love with him back then, and he has never disappointed me.❤️❤️
This is without question, one of the greatest country songs ......By one of it's greatest stars
Loving these George Strait reactions!!!

Pure Country is my 1 of my favorite movies... that and Stand By Me!!!!!!!!!
A few good songs? That entire album is the best soundtrack I've ever heard from any movie. Every single song on that album is amazing.
Jace Rea in the movie he never kissed Haley out of respect for his wife...wonderful movie
Classic George Strait!
Thanks this is my favorite Strait song!
Great video! Love George Strait
George got his start at an NCO club at Schoffield Barracks, Oahu. Army doesn’t pay great so he sang to make a little cash. Folks told the troubadour (singer) he needed to be a star and the “King of Country” was born
My sister-in-law was stationed there. Got to visit two summers in a row. Love the North Shore!!
Laryn Ann Tapp I lived there for 2yrs, it was beautiful but I was ready to come back to Texas
George Strait is one of the Greats in the country world.
I sing this song and others of his in karaoke. George Strait wrote and sang so many hits over the years it's mind boggling. The man is the King.
8 Seconds is one of my favorite movies, and one of the saddest, a based on a true story about bull rider Lane Frost. The video makes me think of the movie, too.

The Fireman is another good one as is his song the chair
One of the first songs I learned all the words to as a kid- thanks to my Papa LOL
He was so young! About that same time I saw King George, live, at the Stagecoach Inn, in Stamford, Texas. At the time, I didn't know who he was...but he was cute, could sing, and played 2-steppin' music. :-D
One of the very best singers....voice is silky smooth!! Great song as always! And the horses were gorgeous!!
My favorite King George song. Thank you.
George Strait is in the Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Rodeo Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, Texas. He used to compete successfully on the rodeo circuit.
When I was in high school, I was in a horse riders club. I was riding a friend's horse on a ride from the little place we lived to the arena where the rodeo was being held and we did the opening riding of the rodeo that day. It is one of my favorite memories.

The chair is a great one! He has so many..king of country
Fireman by king George is a good upbeat song.
I was 19, living in Junction City Kansas. Had a baby and no money. We had a small 8 inch tv that we could get the local station that showed events, etc. They would play this song many times a day in the background. I would grab my little boy up and dance and sing to this...Great memory! Thanks.

George Strait has so many songs it is really hard to pick a favorite song.
George is the real thing. A standard and perfect example. He set the bar high.
Love, Love, Love. Back in the day all the ladies loved him. There is something so attractive about a man who is true to his wife, a gentleman, those blue eyes, and of course his music.
George Straight lost his 13 year old daughter close to the college I attended. It was heartbreaking.
8 Seconds starred Luke Perry and was about Lane Frost. A rodeo man who died doing what he loved. Luke Perry was from Beverly Hills 90210 and passed last year from a stroke. He was in Riverdale on Netflix but they had to write his character off as his passing was sudden.
Also, accomplished team roper with his son. He is an actual cowboy.
George Strait and Chris LeDoux we’re both rodeo champions turned country singers and some of the rides in this video were George Strait himself
A Texas icon . The love for George here is almost tangible .
I really enjoy watching your reactions to all the songs 😊 another great country song is Forever Amen by Randy Travis 👍😍
My favorite George Strait song, written by Terry Stanford who had the hit song Suspicion.
I remember hearing this song for the first time on my grandmas little radio with one speaker.just love it.George Strait was in a movie called Pure Country, have you seen it? You should❤️

Saturday night, dancing the two step in a Texas music hall. This is the music.
8 Seconds is about Lane Frost. Yes George is and has been a Living Legend
Pictures from Rodeo Houston, I competed there back in 1979 & 1980. Got to see a lot of fantastic music acts for free!
Missing you Dr Ty love seeing you at the school board and letting those pieces of s*** up thank God for you keep it up ♥️💪

“The Chair” or “ I cross my heart” is what what you’re looking for if you want to hear George Strait at his best. Love ya!

George was really young in this video. always loved this song, because I liked the fiddle part. I believe George Strait began his singing career singing at the rodeos. Same for Reba mcentire. She sung at rodeos when she was very young. She also did some competing as well.
