Well, it's finally time to say goodbye to the Blue Angel (After 15 years!)
The new amp is seriously Amazing - Hopefully I get as many years out of this as I did that :)
Tones start at 9:20 Enjoy!
Amp: imp.i114863.net/Na1gV
WOW! Never thought I'd ever see an amp with everything I'd want. This would be it. Gotta try one out at L &M. Its perfect for your channel Darryl! Hey that rhymes! :)
Congrats Darrell nice amp :)
Very nice amp D.B. May I ask where you picked yours up with the foot switch included?
I can't believe you traded a Mesa for a H&K!!!
Love the feature set and sounds, and to top it all off, it's not too pricy either, hmmmm..I'll have to put it on my radar. Grats Darrell!
hi Darrell, now that the blue angel is in retirement, it will need a retirement home, I put my hand up mate, I would give her a nice home and play her often and take her for walks etc lol
OOO!!! I second that. I'll even come pick it up:)
I 3rd! I'll pay shipping!
I think that she would preferred her retirement time with sand see and son in Thailand. Ha ha ha
Blue Angel 21 gun salute. The end of an era.
What is the "Blue Angel"? I keep hearing him refer to it but can't find a video about it!
@@Tricknologyinc It was a Mesa Boogie combo that he played for many years. You can see it in older videos when he shows his mic setup.
@@BinauralBacker If you can recall a title, or throw a link would be great. If it's a hassle, don't sweat it! Thanks!
Wait wait wait... don't you hope I'm having a great day today? :(
This amp is my gig rig amp. It is amazing, sounds amazing, covers every sound you can dream of, doesn’t break your back and sounds killer. Great choice Darrell.
So happy for you Darrell! I just got my first tube amp a few months ago and the tone is like butter! Hughes and kettner is a great brand!
I've been using a H&K Tubemeister 18 for a year now . It does not have onboard effects or preset storage but it has the built in DI Redbox and power soak features. I love it. Clean tones and lead tones are superb. I tend to play with as low an onstage volume as possible and use my amp, speaker as my monitor, and leave it to the house PA to mix my DI sound. I recently blew one of the EL 84 power tubes in rehearsal before a big show. This gave me a huge appreciation for their TSC circuitry that diagnoses faulty tubes and prevents more serious problems. The amp was fine, and replacing the tube (with the invaluable help of CZcams) was a 15 minute job. Big fan of H&K!
This is one of your best demos Darrell! Really great tones, and great explanation!
Wow, it's so versatile! The inclusion of the cabinet simulation and the noise gate really stands out!
Congrats Darrell, well deserved. Sure is purdy.
I’m a tradition it’s and a fender twin reverb or 59 bassman is the best but when I played one of these I really dig it and I don’t like modern stuff most of the time
What an absolutely fantastic demo ! One of the best I've ever seen .. thanks so much, I'm going to have to get my paws on one of those H&Ks .
Killer rig I've had my eye on their stuff for years. Happy for ya enjoy
I love Hughes and Kettner, when you play one in person they make everything sound so good.
I got one about a year ago and really like it. Good choice.
Absolutely glad to hear your new tone choices, my ear was beginning to be tired of the old one, the multi sound options will help greatly sounds awesome.
So happy for you man! I just bought the Tubemeister 18 on black friday, tried it at Long & McQuade and just loved the sound. The power soak was a must in my small appartment. I had read nothing but good reviews about their whole lineup. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Was thinking of going for the Traynor DHX212 cab with it even though the 212 from H&K I was playing through was also quite enjoyable.
I'm a proud owner of this amp since almost 3 years and I love it every time I use it! It's freaking amazing!
Love your vids, great demo!
Now I want this !
Hello Darrell! Thank you for sharing this video, congratulations on your new amp. It really is amazing! I truly enjoyed the demo!
Congrats! A perfect combination of technology from two eras. A super cool miracle amp! 😎
Really sounds good Darrell. Congrats. Looking forward to hearing it in the coming days. Merry Christmas.
Revv’s like “ hold my beer” 😂
Chug chug chug
From the clean to the distorted, the amp definitely gives off a taste of everything for all kinds of possibilities! Cheers and congrats on the acquirement, especially after that long!
Why are you everywhere ?
What was the Black Spirit? An HK Katana?
Thanks Darrell , I don’t play but have loved Listening to music from 70 to present day . It’s educated me and given me great insight into your world.
More than impressed!. Never ceases to amaze me how modern amps and general music equipment has progressed in such a short space of time. So much easier to be a musician these days. Kinda makes you want to turn back the clock and learn all over again with the gear available now. Imagine how good we'd be. I envy any new starter now. No need for all the difficulties we had with the crap stuff we had to endure as kids trying to learn with poor quality guitars and over priced rubbish amps.
I recently played through a Tubemeister set to 1 watt, and I was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to trying this one out.
Sounds Excellent ! Thanks Daryll, I just found my son's Xmas present !
Can I be your son?
Me too?
I love my TM40!! I have a Splawn Quickrod 100...an EVH 5150 iii Stealth and the TM40 Deluxe and the TM40 is my favorite of the three! It's sounds so good and even though it doesn't have the built in effects like the GM40 and some of the other bells, it still does have the core tone and that's what counts for me! Great amps!!!
Very very nice. Well deserved congrats. Love love love that STORE button.
I have a H & K 18 and was initially disappointed but when I learnt to drive it hard (high volume and gain) it comes alive. Great choice Darryl, and as always a great review. I wish I could afford one of those new ones.
Very good demo. Thank you.
Great Video Darrell.
This was very helpful since I would have never know this AMP existed.
Thanks Again
I have yet to see/hear a demo of what this amp sounds like with the lower wattage settings. Since so many of us practice in our bedroom or livingroom, I am especially interested in this feature.
It sounds the same. The amp is remarkably consistent, at least with distorted sounds, across volume and wattage sittings. It does break up earlier on clean sounds at lower wattages, as you would expect.
He says that he usually plays it on the 20W setting so maybe that’s what he’s using in the demo?
At 20 watts the sound is the same because simply 2 tubes of four are kept off. At 10 watts the power soak is used and so for the rest, however the sound quality doesn’t decrease at all. I tried it
I literally have mine set at 1W when I practice and it's amazing, As another person stated, "remarkably consistent". You don't need a huge amount of power to get great tone with this one
Hi Darrell, thank you so much, I discovered this amp thanks to your video, now I own it and I’m really amazed! Great work! Thanks
Amazing! Enjoy Darrell!
For anyone looking for almost the same feature set in a cheaper non-tube design, lots of feature overlap with the boss katana head, which also has an integrated speaker.
This amp sounds incredible. Love all the tones
That's nice D! Congrats and Well done Brother!
Congrats and nice upgrade Darrell.
Love the H&K stuff!
impeccable taste, my man.
Wow. Thanks for this. I think I'm going to pull the trigger, based on your detail!
As a fellow Canadian, I'd be happy to take care of that Blue Angel in the pasture for you!
Hi Darrell, big fan! No pressure or anything, but there's a man with a pistol pointed at my head, and he says that if you don't stop saying 'reverb' in such a stupid way, he's g
Man that heavy tone was so sweet
Hey Darrell! It's the best demo of this amp on CZcams. Other demos turned me off from even considering this amp for buying. You showed that it in every way is great in real life as on paper. Thanks!
As always, amazing video 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻
That is a nice amp. Always loved the blue light in there. Like the tone and all the features included. Plus the fact that you don't have to use a cabinet would be a great option for my personal need. Thanks for sharing this. Cant wait to hear more. Bye Bye Blue Angel!!!
I have the tubemeister deluxe 40 and it is the best I have for sure. Congrats buddy!
Always love your videos dude
She is absolutely gorgeous bud. Cheers to you and your success with the channel. Enjoy many years with that tonal beast
It seems that my ears must have known that you had alread used this amp because when you played through this smp for the intro I thought it sounded exactly like I had heard you sound before. sweet amp, good luck with it.
I've always loved H&K's sound pallet... Your brief sound check just proves H&K has another winner...!!!
I just picked up the TM-18 and I get goosebumps whenever I hear it.
Very nice and you deserve it. Enjoy your new amp.
CONGRATS!! H&K make very good Amps, nice choice. Will enjoy for many years. Always liked the look too the blue neon name and see through front just scream "Hell Ya"!
New amp day is always terrific! Don't play live anymore, simply play for the Love of it at home. Sold all my big amps and went Little. Pickup up a 57 Champ. Funny is, that old tech still sounds amazing, honest.
This video makes me remember when I bought my H&K 100W some twentyfive years ago.
At every gig I had to fight with sound guys to have it connected through the back instead of using a mic: it just sounded better most of the time!
Great amps up to the TriAmp. And I still have it.
I hear ya! I'm a true gear nerd. I currently own 14 guitars, bought and sold another 15 or so in the past 20 years, owned almost 10 bass amps, a bunch of pedals... But when I bought my Triamp in 2006, I never looked back. It's still right next to me as I'm typing this, I never thought of replacing it, always used it at home, at rehearsals, gigs, recordings,... I did order an H&K Tubemaster 40 Deluxe yesterday, since I'd like to leave the Triamp in the rehearsal room. The Tubemaster and Grandmaster seem like the perfect home(recording) amps. Especially since I heard that the Tubemaster's preamp section is based on the Triamp.
Congratulations! l LOVE this amp. Wanted it so bad, but it's out of my justifiable price range (and need) right now. Really happy for you.
How about the Black Spirit 200?
Borgør I’ll check it out. Thanks.
Very nice amp... congratulations and I'm looking forward to hearing this baby in many many videos to come. I play in a band with an all silent in-ear setup and thus through a modeling amp / multi fx straight to the board, but this thing meets all my demands. Seems like I need to start saving some money...
Good job brother, I bought this literally 2 weeks ago and love it. Every channel is useful and sounds awesome. Don't care that it was made in china or wherever, it sounds amazing.
It's a German brand, but the tubes are the cheap china tubes, swap them out and the amp even sounds way better.
I always wanted one of the H&K amps. They looks so cool and sound amazing.
Welcome to the Hughes and Kettner club! I've been playing with one for about 5 years and love it. I've got a Tubemeister 18 and it does everything I need. In fact, I sold my old Laney VC 30 to buy the H&K
Dude...awesome rig upgrade. Mega-grats
That is versatile in every regard.
"if you dont like my tones..." lol, yeah right
Congrats, it's awesome
I’ve been using the H&K Tubemeister for about a year now and it’s the best amp I’ve ever had. H&K makes amazing stuff.
wow man im gonna miss the "and of course we are using the blue angel mic'ed up with the Senheiser"
Amazing review! I like the tone even through the Redbox
We have a daily customer that looks like you. I always remember you whenever he comes to our shop to buy coffee 😂
Happy to see H&K is getting some more recognition. Awesome amp and very flexible. Steve Stine is a H&K player too.
Best review of this amp I have heard. I am closer to picking one of these up.
Great choice Darrell.👍 My wishlist amp.😍
Hughes&Kettnner has been my amp choice since late '80's. they are truly something else.
Have never seen you smile so big or often!!! Glad you like it!
Wow! Is the only sane thing I can say! Nicely done Darrell. Great review! :) :)
He forgot to say I hope you had a great day today. It’s very satisfing with his accent
Very nice review Darrell... Super impressed with the tones + features of the H&K Amp. Hope the Blue Angel is going to a good home.
I think you should run a world-wide competition to give it away :)
Just got my first electric guitar last month, wish me luck! Great content.
Rock out! You don't need luck as long as you practice
I'm gonna have to try one out... Thanks Darrell I appreciate your video.
Rick
I got one a while back - great recording and cover band amp. Takes pedals well. You have to become a knob turner, but, you can find tons of great tones with this amp. The big foot switch is a must.
I have one of these amps. The most important thing about this amp is it's versatility on a stage environment. It covers a lot of ground.
Love the Hughes and Kettner brand! I love my Tubemeister 5 and have my eye on their Tubemeister 20.
This Amp and the Peavey invictive amp is too freaken awesome..love those amps.
Awesome amp. Congrats!!
Congrats on the new amp. I have the Deluxe 20. My next H&K will probably be the Black Spirit. Yours sounds so versatile.
The Black Spirit 200 is essentially the solid state variant of this m
amp.
seems really cool! nice review
Crazy to see how split people are about H&K amps. Theyre so versatile i dont quite understand why some people reaaalllllyyy dont like them.
Jese Lawrence it’s a little hard to dial in the tones you want, I have one and getting that Marshall tone is hard to get sometimes but the amp is a killer, I’m never selling it, but now I know I need a plexi
Because they don't sound good. I'm OK with Marshall, Engl and Mesa tho.
The H&K does everything but nothing right.
Thats a lot of awesome amp for $1500, everything you will ever need. I was expecting it to cost more actually till I looked it up. It looks like your really enjoying it in this video. Thanks for the review Darrell!
now this is super cool amp, very interesting and versatile
Been playing this amp since Sept 2018, Love it !
Great amp and congrats Sir.
Myself, I tend to keep it simple.
This philosophy also requires myself to have many different amplifiers.
The only issue I see with amplifiers like these (very complicated) is that they can't possibly hold up as well as a simple PTP amp.
I purchased a brand new Fender Twin Reverb back in 1976. All these years later I am still using that amplifier.
Dropped, Rain/Snow, Years of abuse and with normal maintenance she is actually sounding better than the day I brought her home from the store.
We are all different and have different needs, so this is indeed very cool, again congrats Sir.
Myself, I'll keep it simple.
Love Hughes and Kettner amps! Had the mk2 Alex triamp and now have the mk3! Absolutely amazing!
Not sure you needed any more tone! Yours was always so great anyway. However I really love your new amp. Has me thinking it's something I need in the future :)
Clean is amazing and crunch sounds very good
I just got mine today. I love it
thanks so much!
Very nice!
Love that amp
Wow! That’s a very nice amp! It looks neat-o too! Enjoy!
Nice grab! I had the original grandmeister 36. I *wish* I liked the sound of it (personal taste) because I absolutely loved everything else about the amp. It came out 6 years ago and other tube amp companies (e.g. Revv G20) are only just now starting to even come close to the feature set of the grandmeister.
My dream amp. All in one definitely!
