      from what I know red tails are more stubborn than Harris hawks. both are great birds though!

      @@waynekieft4952 Hi, my bird passed away some time ago. I did pass this stage with perseverance.
      Unfortunately she was too friendly and trusting of other people around town :(
      now i have a pet magpie to keep me company, much less time demanding but i miss my baby.

    What whistle are you using. And any recommendations for falconry whistles.

    • @TheBelrick
      @TheBelrick Před 7 lety

      they are visual creatures., the whistle is not even necessary. The raised glove is the cue.

    • @falconer5830
      @falconer5830 Před 6 lety +2

      Any will work, and I have to disagree with Bel Rick there, audio queues are very important in falconry. Why else would you whistle to the fist/lure and shout the "HO" when game is flushed.

    • @towncountryenvironmentalpe9953
      @towncountryenvironmentalpe9953  Před 6 lety +1

      My whistle is from Ben Long falconry. It’s useful to train to the whistle so that you can recall them quickly even when out of sight.

      Top Dog obedience . We breed our own quail and mice. We also feed Rabbits and Squirrels that we catch as well as pigeon, turkey, chicken and venison. We like to give our birds a varied diet with 3 or 4 different meats every week

    hi whats the best hawks or falcons and what is easy to train and feed?

    • @greenleader4517
      @greenleader4517 Před 6 lety

      Harris hawk ,the one in the video is the best starter bird ,its the most Robust and has good temperament. other's in the Hawk family like Red tails are also good ,Kestrels and Falcons require a bit more experienced and Eagles should be for pros who do regular hunting in large areas

    • @rafaelrebotim4663
      @rafaelrebotim4663 Před 6 lety

      hey a Northern goshawk is "easy" to train if you are already a good falconer and its a good challenge for a begginer :)

    do the birds ever not come back?

    • @greenleader4517
      @greenleader4517 Před 6 lety

      It happens ,if some one rushes the training or if another larger Raptor chases it

    • @lauraallen7942
      @lauraallen7942 Před 5 lety

      Weight management is also a factor. If the birds crop is full they have little motivation to return for food.
