    Thanks RJ. Lounges are a great benefit for those people who travel a lot. Pre bug, I was taking 4 to 6 flights per week. Most lounges offer a place to get away from the airport grind.

      Road warrior to say the least. I agree, when on a layover it can still be helpful to get to a quieter place. I think when grouped in with other card benefits it becomes worth it

    Thanks for showing us the DTW Delta Sky Club. I’ve passed it countless times as I always fly Delta and wondered what it looked like on the inside.

    Nice overview. The ones I visited at DTW were smaller compared to the one you in which you were filming. They were very nice and I liked the food choices. I really enjoy visiting the Sky Clubs and glad that you can visit them on arrival as well as departure. Thanks for sharing!

      I think the smaller one is in concourse C which they use for connecting flights and the small planes. I was in that concourse this past weekend but didn't have time to go into the lounge. This lounges was in the main terminal, lots of space and not too crowded.

    Atlanta and Salt Lake had nice lounges with a decent footprint. I was in and out for a glass of wine and dessert.

      Haha dine and dash of sorts. I did the same at Laguardia this weekend. Stopped in for a min, bite to eat then back on my way. It's hard to put a dollar amount on these. I only went because I had access but it's also nice to have when flights get delayed. That happened to me coming back from SC... multi hour delay until eventually canceled. Made it a bit worth it to have the access.

    Lounge review = Yay! I'm not certain, but I think you may be able to buy drinks in the lounge towards your $200 platinum credit with Delta as your airline? One thing is that domestic first or business tickets are not good enough for entry, intl only! Alaska lounges as far as I know are the only ones that get entry with any paid first or award points (not upgraded) ticket.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  Pƙed 2 lety

      Good call, I think that would probably count. If not, I think an Amex chat could probably get it to trigger. Ah that sucks, the info I pulled may have been outdated. You'd think first would be enough.. it's not a centurion lounge after all

      @@RJFinancial Overseas, first/biz on short haul gets lounge, in US (except AS) definitely not. I've seen disappointed folks rejected at Sky Clubs. Also saw a domestic F AS woman at club who didn't know eligible but her airport wheelchair attendant caught it! 👍

    Your slide shows correct information, but your words... are a little less ... certain. lol 3:25 The Delta Blue nor the Delta Gold offer any access to any Delta SkyClubs for any price; Only Delta Platinum and Delta Reserve cards do. Also, unfortunately, having a First class domestic ticket isn't sufficient for entry either. You must have Delta One ticket (domestic or international) or be on an international flight SkyTeam partner First Class or business class ticket to get SkyClub access by ticket. Beyond that tho! lol I haven't been inside when I have been there. I don't mind chilling out around gate A-73 across from ChikFilA and the piano player. haha take care, dear sir. Hope your NY trip went well, too.

      Ah that's a rookie mistake on the cards... I knew that. The tickets I think I got that info from One mile at a time, may have been outdated. My bad, thanks for keeping me honest!
      NYC was cool. Funny enough the first thing I did was go to a Citi bank branch and open a biz checking account for the offer lol. Vid coming in the next few weeks about the booking and the Hyatt hotel I stayed at. Need to put in more practice with these travel vids

      @@RJFinancial Hilarious on how you visit banks on your out of town trips. Too bad you cannot as far as I know open an account near home from a CO-OP branch on the credit union side of things. Just basic transactions from the shared branches.

    $250 AF and you still have to pay for lounge access? Not a good deal unless your don't have any other options. It's a Delta Amex card; I expect more. Time for Delta/Amex to step up a little if you ask me. Hopefully when they refresh the card they can add free access.

    • @NCKyle1980
      @NCKyle1980 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      The biggest benefit for the card he referred to, the Delta Platinum card specifically, is the annual companion ticket upon renewal each year. So the $250 annual fee is totally easily offset by that benefit alone. So yes, while it does only offer paid access to Delta SkyClubs, the annual fee isn't difficult to justify annual renewal. Annual companion pass valid for one companion ticket when being booked on same travel itinerary for main cabin seating, and primary ticket must be paid for using Delta Platinum card. So you can't renew, pay the annual fee, get the companion pass, then downgrade to Gold or Blue and still utilize it.

      @@NCKyle1980 I would be happy to pay up to $350 AF for lounge access. This is something that should be considered in opinion. I'm sure that they are exploring options behind the scenes as to what will make this card more attractive and a better value.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  Pƙed 2 lety +3

      I think $39 is too much for entry on most occasions. The primary benefit of the platinum is the companion pass. However the card is still kinda weak for those of us who have multiple cards. It's not even the best multiplier on flights in the amex lineup, that goes to the regular platinum. They did refresh this about 2 years ago when the AF jumped to $250. I had applied right before that happened.

      @@RJFinancial I will be happy to pay up to $350 for free lounge access. I don't fly often enough to justify the Reserve. Maybe Chase or Capital One will make things more interesting. Can't wait to see!
