  • Soh Yu Hock shows how to tie the new VMC 7117 Slow Jigging Assist Hook, featuring PTFE coating which increases penetration speed by 50%. The VMC 7117 slow jigging assist hook's technical locking curve V shape locks the fish close to the shank, applying less pressure on the point to prevent big fish from opening the hook and self-releasing.

    Guys please use safety glasses when using crazy glue. I had a very small drop shoot into my eye and now I've lost probably 50% vision in my right eye. That is something you never want getting into your eyes. Of course I would have ignored this advice myself but hopefully this will save at least one person from damaging their eyesight. I can no longer drive at night safely.

      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 8 lety

      +songs5000 Hi Songs, sizes are rather relative for hooks as each manufacturer will have different hook sizes. For the 15g & 20g, we normally use VMC7110 size 2/0

    Awesome video! Btw, those VMC 7117 are recommended for which weight of jig? Thanks!

    • @RapalaSoutheastAsia
      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 8 lety +1

      +Tezido Hello Tezido, it depends, because different jigs have different lengths and therefore the reference should be to the jig length. We usually use the VMC 7117 with Storm Koika jigs and here's our recommendation:
      7117 #2/0 = Storm Koika 40g
      7117 #3/0 = Storm Koika 60g / 80g
      7117 #4/0 = Storm Koika 80g / 100g / 150g
      7117 #5/0 = Storm Koika 200g

    hello from Israel.
    What kind of vise you use, please (company and part number, if you know it)?
    I many time try to find the "hairs", that you connect to the hooks, what kind of material is it?
    Thanks.

    • @RapalaSoutheastAsia
      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 8 lety

      +MICHAEL AINBINDER The tinsel can be bought from any fly fishing supply shops. Likewise, for the vise, you can purchase them from fly fishing tackle shops too. Any ordinary vise that can hold the hooks will do.

    Just wondering what is the point of the fluorocarbon

    • @RapalaSoutheastAsia
      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi,
      It's to keep the membranes of the line to prevent it from being tangent against the 2 hooks. Also it adds more strength to the assist hooks too!

      Thank you, I go down and see. I just bought about a 100pack of cultivar jigger light yesterday as I could not find any VMC. I like the gun metal colour as compared to the aluminium coloured cultivar owner jigger light.
      Please let me know what is the poundage of the Fluorocarbon n the hollow braid that you use in the video. IS the size of the hook a 3/0 or 4/0? Thank you again.

    It’s one thing to have the materials from other types of fishing. But to have to go out and buy it all. It’s not worth it.
    Quality double assist hooks are pretty cheap.

    • @RainerOsaft
      @RainerOsaft Před 5 lety

      Hi, here where I live the assists hooks are pretty expensive. For me it's cheaper to do them on myself and it's even fun doing them. Out of 3m PE you can create a lot of assist hooks and bobbin and thread aren't that expensive. Just my 2 cents. Have a nice day!

    • @parrysim6078
      @parrysim6078 Před 9 lety

      Those are just fly tying threads. That u get in d fly fishing ships. Brands like uni thread, get a no 3 or no 6. No 8 will be too thin. U can buy zapper gap. Super glue. The normal one will harden. Very brittle.

    why do you tie a knot when You don't use it in the video

    • @RapalaSoutheastAsia
      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 9 lety

      jparryprodeal Are you referring to the whipping thread? This is to secure the loose end.

    • @parrysim6078
      @parrysim6078 Před 9 lety

      No not the red thread that u whip on d hooks. But when u insert the fluorocarbon into d hollow braid n tie a knot. But I do not see that knot appear in ur whole thing video on d 2 hooks.

    • @RapalaSoutheastAsia
      @RapalaSoutheastAsia  Před 9 lety

      The knot is just to secure the fluorocarbon to prevent it from slipping out of the hollow braid :)
