- This pedal is quickly replacing my SP-404 in terms of FX and getting that Lofi Warped Vinyl sound. Adds the dust i've been looking for.

Ooh that jam at the end.
BTW there's a dry kill dip switch: 21:55
For full gnar gnar.
Love you knobies
5:25 "You kinda get the idea, I don't want this video to be too long."
Ricky, I think I speak for everyone who subscribes to your channel, "this video is too long" has been said by exactly no one in regards to your videos. :-)
Marc Laflamme Damn right! Not long enough. Could listen and watch Ricky jam all day long baby!
a big THANK YOU Ricky! I've managed to get me a 1010music BB just in time before the virus shutdown (I live in Italy)
and have "a lot" of time to properly get deep into the machine. I can still go to work mon-fri but evenings and weekend is indoor Can you imagine! I seldom get the opportunity to dedicate time to my music. On one hand this is fantastic but on the other It's a serious and sad situation. Your videos are very inspiring and helping big time to get through this forced confinement...hope this make sense ;-) love -Rob
best wishes and solidarity to you all in Italy!
Rob, Ive had the black box for about 3 months and I just love it. It's amazing what it can do, especially after all the firmwares, and granular update. A truly amazing machine in this pandemic. If you have internet at home download some sample packs for free from music radar dot com and mangle them up too! Good luck out there, we too are on lockdown.
It feels like I'm having a Ricky Tinez youtube marathon once a month since a year ago haha.
Your new material with VCF is sick!
I feel like the blooper is supremely underrated with drums in particular
Came to learn more about Blooper. Left ordering a Blackbox.
Thanks Ricky!
Just a little detail - it'd be cool to make a 3 sec transition jingle with the gear you're featuring
Meese i second this!
I'd like to rephrase that - it'd be potentially cool. It could also be cringe af
thats knobs things lol
Just got one , one the way in the post 🤤, I’m gonna put it in the mixer on Auxiliary send/return to mix dry signal levels. Great explorations Ricky.
I think they missed a trick in NOT having this in the form factor of a pedal. A larger box, targeted towards synth users, without those horrid foot switches, would have made the 500 buck price a lot more palatable. Are guitarists really going to use this pedal? It seems like it'd be a lot more popular with the synth crowd. Something akin to the form factor of Erica Synth's Zen Delay or that gorgeous Reminder effects unit, would have hit the spot. I still want one.
Idk, but they should really start rolling stereo pedals.
@MomoTheBellyDancer I agree, but simpler loopers. As soon as I start discussing LFOs and envelops with guitarists, their eyes glaze over and they start fidgeting
jagrblood and softer switches
It’s crying out for a desktop module version
good boid It has to be stereo or I am not interested.
On the 2nd sample you used at 7 minutes, that weird pop actually sounded like it created this heartbeat type of kick which I was like, whoa, that's kind of cool.
yea its those rhythms i love to try and find in loops!
You're a freakin wizard. Please never stop making videos. So much to see and learn, here... currently my absolute favorite channel.
Me: I want that.
Also me: Use the Zoia more and then you can buy that.
just curious because ive been wanting one, can't the zoia do a lot of what this pedal does? it has looping, pitch shift, and lfos that could be used to fluctuate volume like he does here
@@noahsilva4285 not putting words in anyones mouth but I believe what the original author is expressing is GAS.
@@Monkeyshaman So much GAS
Definately GAS. Ricky has already cost me a blackbox and the launchpad xl... Seems I *need* a blooper in my life as well now :P
Nice video! Much better than a "conventional" tutorial. It's like a Morphagene stomp box. Not exactly, but kinda. Very cool.
Nice! - i used to do similar stuff with my old *Line6 Echo Pro* using the lo-res-delay and onboard looper. Tempted to go into the attic and dust it off..
Hehe. “Clear!” I laughed out loud. Excellent vibes.
i love to see all those sampling/resampling boxes chained altogether. endless tones of phun! next video for you: pair it with your eurorack and use the cv capabilities of the blooper! :)
Chase bliss are crazy
3rd yeah!
you're always first in my heart.
@@RickyTinez : D
@@RickyTinez People like you, mr Knobs, Magpie, Hainbach, Andrew Huang and loads of other experimental pedal and synth heads that are here on YT, why don't you Make a campaign for venues and live artist that need support in these corona days? What could you do? Promote them and their works? Make YT Concerts?
You could also make collaborations where you beatmix each other..
Ricky Tinez reviewing knobs' signature CB pedal... is this the epitome of 💯?
Love the happy accidents that come from this. Very dope device!
Ricky, again. ok. I want it. the feature of applying constantly the effect and degrading the sound up to the end. omg. doing that with maxmsp,ok , but in that pedal.. that 's very very nice.
tfw when u make a drake track: 24:55
sample at 07:15 is my favorite
thanks for this demo Ricky! ⚙️🧨🎶
Dope pedal regardless of price point and can do more than what other loopers can’t
Haven’t tried using it in the delay mode yet. Can’t wait to try some of that out. Thanks for showing that
Bro you have the best quality vids hands down... super informative and educational. I just wish someone would loan you an Analog Rytm mkii black 2020 edition. Haha
Working on it haha
i've officially become addicted to to Ricky's videos. this is bad...
I decide to get 1010 blackbox after this video
I like your pro-3 vid, just ordered 1 to control/get a morphagene(1st modular for me) Didn’t realize Blooper was so similar! I have a warped vinyl so think morphagene+warped/gen loss might be more my thing but this Blooper is very appealing
I think HAINBACH would really dig this! Thanks for the video!
No bloopers with the blooper! Lovely sound.
Thoughts on having a Blooper with a Korg Miniloghe XD?
Also, suggestions on how to learn to use a synth? Thanks!
500 is steep for a pedal for a minilogue. Maybe do what others do with a Zoom cdr 70 pedal. It's the blue pedal, many use with their synths. Also to learn how to play synths just watch others and get a feel, and then just keep trying, you'll get the hang of it.
Satyan Patel thanks!
@12:07 you can hear the test recording "Thank you for buying Blooper" - Guess you haven't updated the firmware. lol
jagrblood is that what it is? It’s creeping me the eff out and it’s super loud. Caught me off guard
I bought the Chase Bliss Mood pedal for £350 and love it - use it all the time. I was interested in Blooper but as soon as I heard it would be £500 I lost interest. I’m not sure why the extra cost? Actually, this video confirms Mood fits my workflow much better.. . I’m a big fam of Chase Bliss though. Would love to get their Dark World pedal. Great video Ricky.
Slow Descent to Wild the extra cost is because the blooper has a lot more sample memory than the mood, and storage. You can save 8 layers of 30 second samples, and you can also store 8 loops (each with 8 layers).
Mood is more for making weird short glitchy effects, blooper can record a whole song in layers.
Buying mood today. Blooper is next month. Years of exploration in my opinion.
Never used the pedal but thought there was no way CBA overlooked a full wet signal...and took a look at some pics and there it was: dry kill toggle on the back of the pedal!
absolute bananas
Thanks Brother!
Great video as always! 👍
Youre killing me , man ! How the fitch do you make - it look so effortless - , massive awe !
I also wish there was a FFT on the stepped pitch to keep the BPM the same.
Can I use this as a stand alone effect pedal without having to loop to use those crazy ass effects?
The Blooper has MIDI sync and MIDI CC, why don't just use that instead of trying to do it manually?
Since this vid has been out for a few days, I'm not sure this will get answered, but worth a try. I've watched some of your setup videos, and I noticed that a lot of them have a lot of gear, such as multiple samplers and sequencers. I want to make setups like those, but I don't have the money just yet and I have no experience with synths at all. What should I consider getting if I want a sort of cheap piece of gear that I can make music with but will also play into larger setups later on?
I would think at the cheapest one could use a Korg Microkorg at about 300 us dollars, the old one with wooden cheeks, and a Boss looper pedal at around 80 to 100 bucks. With the Microkorg you make many sounds, be patient and learn the manual, and is a staple in many bands and outfits. With a looper with overdub you could just layer over and over. If you want a really nice looper then a Boss Rc 202. It has save spots, it's tabletop, has effects in and outs. The RC 202 goes for 200 us dollars I believe. Hope that helps.
Can you run the effects without looping?
A Drake track showed up got me rolling 😂😅😂
Hi Ricky. Thanks for this video. Would you mind sharing what kick drum sample you used in this video? Like, from what sample pack? It sounds good. Many thanks!
Love my blooper
"Where are we ?"
how do you like the 1010 sampler? it seems a bit fidgety.. Love my octatrack but sampling into it is a bit of an arduous process... looking for something more instant.
soooo bummed Superbooth cancelled.....Ricky, were you originally planning to go?? :(
Hi Ricky, I'm a guitarist who's new to the synth and sampling world. Do you have any suggestions for a sampler that could capture or loop a signal from a mono analog synth so that I could use those loops later on during a performance?
Hey! You said something about the sound being to bassy for sampling into the blackbox. Could you please elaborate? I just got one and I'm learning.Do yoy feel it's a bit bass heavy?
How are the foot pedal buttons? the first thing i would do is modify them! Those midifighter arcade buttons would be dope.
they're easy to use. i was messing with some older EQD pedals today and i thought they were broken, but i just wanst pushing down hard enough haha
Can you resample through it from the BB back into the BB ?
What is a super card sticker from the 404?
Can you please explain the signal chain that runs the sp404 into the blooper? For some reason, I can't figure this out lol
“Full gnar gnar” 😆
that pedal is dope! really ha samazing controls and effects... but honestly in my opinion, having it in pedal form really hinders its use... it's interface is really awkward and unintuitive. they would've been better making it bigger and more dedicated controls. but that's just my 2 cents... there's this weird trend right now making guitar pedal housings with synth/sampler control innards and the 2 don't mix well imo.
Would I be able to use a Mpc with this ?
Getting mine soon!@
Yeah....try adding the Thermae before the Blooper in a chain.......see you on the other side.
Only thing I wish didn’t happen is when you bake a loop at a slower speed that it didn’t cut it in half
prnts oh damn
Seems like it could be fun, but I'm not seeing $500 worth of value here.
Espeially to "glitch it" or make it sound imperfected. Wow. I have TAPES since the late 80's of imperfect beats. I cannot even get my mind around this.
for fatalistic hipsters only
Your so right. Not value for money at all. Thats why they probably sent him one to try and get us mugs to buy it.
Out of curiosity how much do you think it should be? I know we have Empress Zoia which is a huge value at the same price point. I like this pedal, but 500 is too steep, but just curious what you think is a good price for this. :)
@@satyanpatel6403 300 tops.
my dude! Lovely stuff. If you can get your hands on the marginally cheaper Chase Bliss Mood, I’d love to hear what you got out of that. Possibly my favourite pedal ever.
Good stuff. Still not convinced at $500 though.
nice.
Nearly $600 after taxes. Not way Jose. Try $200 tops. I see that being it’s real value TBH
I want this pedal so bad
Funny, so do I but not at 500. Ouch.
DryKill... Kills.
Ahem, a wet knob is always good to have
Are we listening to the same Drake?
Rickey do you want to trade a month old Analog Four MK2 with your Intellijel Eurorack? I'm in the mood to Trade...
13:40 Yes, yes we do. 😁
😭😭😭😭😭😭
500 for a looper? come on, man
It's crazy. I guess once you start getting free sh*t all the time, it's a bit hard to truly keep yourself in reality with respect too true value.
maybe i am wrong, but you may have missed the point...he's using as an FX box. Looping is an after thought.
I think True Value is a suuuuper subjective term. I said it at the beginning and the end, i'd easily pay the $500 for i..
For me to be able to quickly throw a chord into the Blooper, degrade it, pitch it around, resample it, filter it, then play it into my DAW or another sampler is amazing to me. It is by no means cheap, or affordable. But im 100% willing to pay for a tool that does the job i've been having a hard time doing otherwise, thats not cumbersome and is actually exploratory and inspiring. Thanks for watching and the comments as well!
The Electro Harmonix EHX 95000 is roughly $550, is a 6 track looper and definitely worth the buy. Might not have the bells and whistles that the Blooper has but def worth it.
value is indeed a subjective thing, and it also depends on your music. if you're making a living from your music production, having something unique like this pedal would be a good purchase since you know you'll get that money back from your revenues.
others like me who are in it for the hobby probably wont buy this unless you have the budget to spare on such expensive toys. some people spend thousands on watches too. spend hundreds on bottles of alcohol... personally i know i'll never have the money for this but i understand taht not everything needs to be mass audience budget.
let's not forget that 30 years ago making music was mostly for rich people since owning the gear and space to make music was heella expensive.
Straight up a drake track showed up
Weird stuff...but cool!
Hmm. Too much stacked modality, too many contexts for controls, I get it, its a pedal, but, wow, that's a lot of brain space its gonna take up!
404 gang! lol
nice show! now do it with your feet! :P
With the Eurorack videos you’ve done recently I don’t see how guitar pedals work in this format anymore. I just see them becoming redundant. No offense to the company but i don’t see a market for this anymore.
Welp guitarists don't bring eurorack setups on stage for use as effects 'typically'. They also use their FEET to use effects as both hands are on the guitar. There are a lot of guitarists in the world, thus there is a MARKET. As for the format part, not everyone here is eurorack centric. Keyboard players and others with minimal setups dont want to invest $2000 in eurorack gear that will control one peice say a morphagene in a similar way as this small pedal. So I say, with some authority in this matter as I am in all 3 camps eurorack, keys, guitars etc that you're wrong here. There is a need, and there is a market.
not for me
I’d buy tht drake track lol
500? Nah
Oh I wish I hadn't watched this....
