The bathroom doors thing is so exaggerated. You'd have to be lying on the floor to get that view.
Not only that, it is a huge social taboo to peek in a public toilet. I can't speak for what happens if caught in the women's room, but if caught in the men's room, if you're lucky, you just get called out as a pervert and chased out. If you're unlucky, you're probably beaten to a pulp and turned over to you police as a Peeping Tom. If the police ask why he's all bruised and bloody, everyone will swear he "slipped" on the wet floor when he tried to run away and bashed himself on the sink and urinal.

I've never seen anyone yelled at for not tipping in over 50 years of restaurant dining in the U.S.
The American date format makes sense to me, not only because of how we verbally say it but because of the calendar, too. When you look up a date on a yearly calendar, let's say it is a 2024 paper calendar or even the calendar on your cell phone. When looking up a date, what do you search for first? I search for the month first, then the day.
Most non-American things I can see why it might be better for some people or I am just indifferent about it, but the date is one of the only things that I say should be done in the 02/17/(20)24 format or as 2024/02/17. Many try to claim that it is better to have the most specific thing first as one person did in this video, but it makes less sense exactly for the reason described above. I wish they would explain how it is more effective to not to know the month before the day.
MMDDYYYY is way better for computers aside from YYYYMMDD, which is the best because then there is ordered values putting DDMMYYYY messes up the chronological numbering order. Give a Brit, American, and a Japanese person a year's stack of jumbled up photos with the preferred date in the corner and tell them to put the photos in chronological order and the Brit would find it nearly impossible.
It is absolutely untrue that tipping is required in the U.S.A., or you will "get yelled at". That is ridiculous! If you don't tip, the waiter will think of you as a cheap-ass. But under no circumstance would you ever get yelled at. 🇺🇸
Not tipping your waiter in America is paramount to stealing from them. Your server is providing a service that they are not being compensated for by the restaurant, so there is a social contract that the patron covers the costs of the servers wages. If you are to cheap to tip then don't go out to eat in America
I ate at a Chinese buffet and was chased down for not leaving a tip on the table. All the waitstaff did was bring us water. Not joking I was chased down in the parking lot and I walked back in to throw a couple of bucks on the table. You’re right that on average you don’t have to tip but know your restaurant or you may be called out even if it’s not deserved.

I've had it happen - kind of. There have been times when a large group after too many drinks accidentally WAY under tipped and had servers visibly upset come to the table with their manager to ask why. We just apologized profusely for our drunkenness and then overtipped 🤷🤣

You won’t have to ask to join the tailgate party. Just walk around and strike up a conversation with some people. You will likely be invited to partake at that point. Your English accents will be a great icebreaker.
If you go to a game and everyone is tailgating, all you have to do is walk up and say Hi, we are from England and this is our first game. Does everyone cook out like this? You will likely be invited to join them. Everyone will be friendly and just want to talk. Find someone that has a lot of stuff going on the grill or a big spread and they will certainly have plenty. If you go up to someone that has a little grill and a small family they most likely brought enough for just themselves. You will have blast especially if you tell them you have a youtube channel etc.
The appetizer is usually shared by everyone at the table.

I am in the US and I get 20 vacation days + 5 sick days + 3 floating holdays + 7 standard holidays
I’ve been in a professional job for 12 years, and we have 7 paid holidays and 15 total off days including sick.
Here in Philly, people do tailgate for all sports. It’s most common for football where it’s basically “expected” but it’s also very common for baseball too. If you want the experience, pick up a 6 pack and some sandwiches and hang by your car outside the stadium. You may make some friends nearby who have more elaborate setups but it will give you the experience either way.
Depends on the company. Right now, at 20 years worked, I get 4 weeks of vacation time that rolls over. we also get 40 hrs of sick time that accrues at 5 hrs per week.
Really, before I retired in 2017, I got 10 weeks of vacation time, paid holidays, 40 hours a month of sick days, both short term and long term disability leave, and every five year a five year bonus and healthcare insurance was $6.00 to $8.00 a week was taking out of my paycheck to pay my part of the monthly healthcare premium.
A lot of employers in the U.S.A. lump vacation days & sick days into one category called PTO (Paid Time Off).
So, yes, it discourages you from taking time off if you're sick if you want to go anywhere on vacation later on because you don't want to lose any days off.
Some employers in the USA separate vacation days from sick days but most of them have evolved to adopt the PTO system so that the employers can squeeze out as much out of their employees as possible.
When you start at a new job, you typically get a minimum of 10 days of PTO for FULL time work plus 6 holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day). Part Time workers may get no PTO just holidays off (employers discretion on PTO for part time workers).
Also, lot of employers require a note from the doctor if you take 3 or more consecutive sick days (PTO) or you can be reprimanded at work & even fired.
Part time employees usually also don't get paid for Holidays and servers do not get any PTO days at all, if they are sick they do not get paid or if they need a day off they will need to get someone to cover their shift or they will most likely be terminated.
A couple thoughts about American portions and the tendency to also order appetizers and desserts is that, a lot of times we tend to share both appetizers and desserts with the rest of the table and if not, we don't usually think twice about taking leftovers home with us for later. 😋
Also I've never known ANY Americans to order dessert unless it was a special occasion or at least a specialty of the restaurant, like cheesecake factory. Even then I've been there about 10 times and have yet to order dessert. In Europe they have course after course plus dessert and no leftovers! In America we only do a shared appetizer before a main meal, and still take leftovers home.
I live in America and I used to work as a server at a restaurant. I had 0 paid sick days and 0 paid vacation days along with not having health insurance. If I wasn't working, then I wasn't making money.
You mean to say in other words: 'If I wasn't working, then I wasn't eating'? Working with out vacation or sick days or health insurance is the pits, and should be illegal.
In my home, we have separate shoes for inside the home and outside of it. We have scorpions here so you never want to walk around in the dark barefoot in the warm months. And we have rattlesnakes, too, so no walking around outside without shoes! Then, we have months of snow. Let's just say, shoes are mandatory here!
I have several cats. Someone is ALWAYS throwing up, for whatever reason. Shoes are mandatory, in my house!

Teachers here have the same situation here. Some school districts allow their teachers to be paid their annual wage spread over 12 months, or be paid during the “school year” with some getting summer jobs. No matter where, teachers are underpaid.
BTW, peanuts are grown here, so it’s a common things, as is peanut oil for coooking.
Vacation/Holidays... Many US companies allow two weeks (10 days) after one year of service, and that typically increases after 5 years, 7 years, 10 years, etc. I had 26 days (more than 5 weeks) after working for my company for 15 years. Pretty standard. There are also usually up to 10 holidays (Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Years, Thanksgiving, July 4th, etc) throughout the year that many companies offer. My company also offered 5 sick days in addition to scheduled vacation and holidays.
2 weeks after 1 year? Must be nice! I got 1 week after 1 year. 2 weeks after 3 years. Midnight shift workers had to break up their vacation. 2 consecutive weeks off was unheard-of! Unless you were a msnager...
For tailgating: you're unlikely to see it anywhere other than at a football game.
A suggested approach for you: tell a group you're from the UK, you've never been to a football game, and can you ask them some questions about tailgating. You're very likely to be invited over to at least try the food.
Actually both styles of toilet seats are very common here in the 🇺🇸.
Some restaurants in the US charge a mandatory 18% service fee for large groups. If this is the case, you are not expected to tip any additional.
US has change from vacation and sick days to classify as PTO, paid time off, which is vacation and sick time.
There is no federal law requiring Companies to pay any type of vacation or sick pay. There are many states that also don't have that law. Thankfully, I'm in California where it is law. For those jobs that do offer paid time off (PTO), I have always seen 2 weeks/10 days of vacation plus 1 week/5 days of sickleave, or 15 total days of PTO. I think I only get five paid holidays per year. I have to work most holidays, even though my clients aren't in the office. This Monday is a perfect example. None of my clients will be in because it's Presidents' Day in the US but we have to work.
My last job was at Target. I was there for several years.. but after getting hired on and working for x amount of time is when you earn your vacation time… I only got 5-7 days a year for vacation. As far as tailgating, most people are very friendly from my experience.
This weekend is a three day holiday. Monday is Presidents’ Day.
In the USA, I get about 5 paid weeks per year of vacation time, that includes sick time.

Tailgating is mainly football event. I’ve not seen any for baseball or any other sports.
The most surprising thing I have found is that to pass a class In Britain you only need a 50% making it an "F" in the U.S.. To pass a class in the US minimum is a 70%.
Days off from work varies widely from one employer to another, so it's hard to give one answer to that question. I currently have 82 vacation days and 58 sick days available to me because I'm able to carry over unused days from one year to another.
Me and my family and pretty much everyone I know wear shoes inside the home. I hate not having something on my feet.

Science and medical occupations use the metric system all the time. Other kinds of occupations may use feet and inches, pounds, etc. Cook books usually use ounces and cups
but food at the grocery store could be in all kinds of different units. Gasoline is sold in gallons. Distance measured in miles. Farmland or other large tracks of land are measured in acres.

In the USA, paid vacation days are completely up to the employer. Neither the state, federal, or local governments have any say in it. I get 5 weeks. Many jobs you have to work there for 1 year before you start accruing vacation time. And it will escalate the longer you work there.

I've lived in the US all my life and I've never been to an establishment where I was expected to tip for bad service. Tipping is discretionary. You're not obligated to tip for bad service. Time off/ vacation days depends on who do you work for,. How long have you've been with that particular company, and where do you live in the country.
If you want to hear something really crazy listen to this. I had a friend who made peanut butter mayonnaise and dill pickle sandwiches. I thought wow, you're nuts. Then I tried it and I loved it.😂 Also mix peanut butter with maple syrup. Yum.
At my last three jobs I had zero vacation days and zero sick days. The previous job before those was the only one I had paid days. It started with 5 vacation days and after 3 years it was 10 days. Five years got you 15 days while ten years it reached 15. My two jobs before that had no benefits of any kind.
I'm in the US and get 20 days PTO + about 9 holidays
Growing my dad's company would give him a two week vacation one year and a three week vacation the next. I grew up this way and thought it normal. Until I started to work and only got two weeks myself. This can be split up into two one week vacations, usually, but not all companies do that. Here, many Federal Holidays are situated to be on Mondays, so you could take a three day weekend, if you didn't work on Saturday.
If you go to Dodger Stadium you must try the Dodger Dogs, which are special hot dogs.
The thing that I want to comment on is the metric system, as a 57 yo American. I do remember this being pushed on me in elementary school. Not being that good at math to begin with, I was quite bewildered. So, relieved that it mostly "didn't take". Yes, I ran track in high school and ran in meters. Our soda pop was in 2 liter bottles. But to this day, milk comes in quarts and petrol in gallons.
Here in the States we get more than just 12 days off for vacation time. Depending on what type of work, or career, you do or have" because nowadays, we get between like 14 days off for vacation up to a month. Depending on how successful you are" when it comes down to both jobs and careers.
Average vacation time in the states is about 10 to 14 days paid depending on company. You add more days every year after the first year. Nurses can max out at 30 days vacation at a hospital. Honestly the longest vacation I’ve had was exactly three days in New York and flying back to Florida just to go to work the next day. Yeah a real mess of a schedule. Fortunately I go to Disney or universal time to time so to have some fun. It’s like I go a lot to blow steam off. That or hit my punching bag for like 30 minutes to relieve some stress. You just need an outlet sometimes.
In the USA, we use both Imperial & Metric. Kind of like being bilingual! Mechanics cuss cars that have a mixture of both Imperial & Metric. Both industrial & automotive mechanics need a full set of both Imperial & Metric tools. Most imported products are Metric.
As Lawrence said in a video you guys watched recently, there are other countries that use soccer instead of football but the Us is the most well known country to use the term.
Never seen a tailgate at a baseball game. Football? YES! Even high school football games have tailgating.
Of course in addition to PTO and sick days, there are several federal holidays, and you may or may not get those off as a PTO (but separate from the PTO that you request), depends on the job. If you're a police officer or you work at a hospital, it's less likely, but if you work at a bank, it's highly likely. :-) Warehouse jobs I have had, you always got federal holidays as paid time off.
So that's Christmas, New Year's Day, President's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, etc. Most of those end up being three or four day weekends. :-)

Soccer's formal name is Association Football. British people had the idea of sticking -er on the names of things. For in Soccers case it's the soc in Association. Some other English speaking countries say soccer. Canada and Australia would be examples since they have their own football codes and not just soccer. Canadian football is similar to American football, but there are some rule differences.
Peanuts are a big thing in the US because peanuts itself originated from the Americas. Stuff like corn, pumpkins or any squash, and varieties of nuts all originated from the Americas, which is why we have acquired our tastes to them.
Vacation days: it depends on the job, and on how long you've been with the company. In most cases, the higher-level the job, and the longer you've been with the company, the more vacation days you get.
Also, if you work hourly, you usually don't get paid for vacation days. If you're salaried, your vacation is specified as PTO - Paid Time Off.
There's a relatively new thing too, in which you have no upper limit to the amount of PTO you can take, and (for example) your manager approves PTO requests based on how good you are or how badly the company needs your butt in a seat during that time.
I live in Florida and at my house growing up to present we walk in the house with shoes on but switch to house slippers once we get to our bedrooms. My daughter has a Vietnamese friend and they take shoes off at the front door.
My job gives everyone 10 vacation days or 2 weeks, 10 holidays, 2 personal days, 5 sick days when you start with the company.
After 25 years my vacation maxed out at 25 days or 5 weeks along with the other days above in the US.

Where I work, there is PTO (paid time off) and PPTO (protected paid time off), the PPTO you can use in case you're sick or you otherwise can't make it in and they'll have to honor it, but once it's gone, it takes a while to save up PPTO hours. As for PTO, well, you can try to use that too, but they can deny that for whatever reason (usually "lack of coverage" but I call BS on that).
But yeah, a lot of jobs in America don't do nearly as well about giving workers vacation time as they apparently do in other countries.
Tip your delivery drivers the same you would tip waitstaff.
I get very irritated with people acting like a couple bucks is a good tip for a delivery.
Drivers maintain their own personal vehicles to deliver in and need tires, oil changes, gas/petrol, etc. at a greatly increased frequency.
They also brave the elements and risk armed robbery so you don't have to pick up takeout.
Appreciate what they do and tip accordingly.
The whole vacation time thing varies by occupation and company. I am a nursing assistant and I have been at my company for 10 years. I get 4 weeks of vacation. My husband works for Walmart and has for 4 years he only gets a week plus sick time so almost 2 weeks total. New hires at my job only get a week. You are rewarded for staying with the company.
During my career in the US Army we used metrics extensively in maps, distances, weapons, and etc.
There are no state or federal laws requiring sick or vacation time anywhere in the US.
My usual tip is 25%, but at certain favorite restaurants I tip 30%.
I get quite a lot of days off because I work for school district. We get 5 days per semester for sick and five days per school year which rolls over every year. I get summers off. Which I don’t get paid they take 9 months of pay and stretch it to 12 months. Before I worked for the school district. I worked in childcare. You get a total of 8 days off unpaid. And if you wanted a vacation you had to take it unpaid. Then they would only give you five days.
I've watched literally 100's of videos about American food and the size of the portions in restaurants, and it took this video for me to come up with a reasonable explanation. We've had several financial depressions in our history where everyone was forced to eat skimpy meals to stretch every penny. So, when things got better, most of us decided to make sure everyone had plenty to eat, and to the best of my recollection, leftovers weren't a thing until the 70s because before then my mother used to make me sit at the dinner table until I was finished eating. Now we're in the days of the leftover box or the takeaway container to eat another time.
There is one cross section in America that uses day month year, and that's the military. To this day, unless I'm instructed otherwise, I write my dates day month year and cross my number seven through the middle.
Lastly, and out of order, most people only get 2 weeks vacation here because we have so many holidays. We have 12 federal holidays, but only 10 give everyone off, then there are the school holidays that teachers students and at least one parent at a time have off about 10-13 days then there's Easter break, so that's another week off to be around for your kids and that's just one of you. The alternating parent and the "just one of you" scenarios are unless you're a teacher, but if you're a single parent, you don't get those unless you have a kind boss. There's the missing time off of work to make 28 days off. 😅
Tailgating can be done at baseball games depending on weather but it is not as prominent as at football games. If it is there it would be much smaller and just private groups mostly. NASCAR races will have the most open and largest tailgate around
The toilet seat thing is BS.
The seats with the gap are only found in public restrooms and never in a house.
If you think about it those gaps are a good idea for public toilets,after all,who wants their junk touching a toilet seat that everyone else's junk has touched.
Retired RN 45 years. Time off is PTO ( Paid time off) this includes vacation and sick time. You being with a day a month, add to that any holidays worked. So if you worked Christmas you get paid time and a 1/2 plus 8 hours.
This off time increases to about 10 hours a month after the 10 year mark.
If you are ill more than 3 shifts in a row you need a note from a doctor or no pay.
Even worse if a woman has a baby she can take 6 weeks off however if she used all PTO up before the baby is born no pay.

I retired a couple of years ago, but I worked someplace for 30 years, and I accrued more vacation days the longer I worked. So by the time I retired, I had 10 work holidays (like Christmas & Thanksgiving & others) and 24 paid time off days (PTO = vacation + sick time). The people who started at the company when I retired started with 10 holidays + 15 PTO days. But that was just the company I worked for. PTO offered is different from company to company, AND it depends on how many hours you work. If it's "Full Time" (40+ hours usually) then you have to get vacation time, but it might be as low as 5 days, depending on the company. Most people don't work at one company long enough to accrue that much vacation.
Also, Americans got the word "soccer" from the UK. (I think Laurence from Lost in the Pond mentioned this.) And I *wish* we used the metric system.
Honestly the portion sizes aren’t great anymore as shrinkflation hit the portions are actually smaller.

That's crazy. I don't know anyone who wears outside shoes inside. We all have house shoes.
We take our shoes off just inside the door and just wear our socks or house shoes. Shoes go on just as we head out the door.
I'm disabled, & need special shoes. On in the morning, & they stay on all day until bedtime.
We don’t get yelled at if we don’t tip the waiter staff. Lol We’re not obligated to give a tip, it is up to us. And if our server isn’t good or has a weird dry attitude, sometimes they just don’t deserve it. Other times if we get a server with a bad attitude or cold towards us, sometimes we’ll give them an expected tip because maybe that person (server) is just having a hard day. We tip a certain percent said or a little extra because the servers are on their feet all day, they have to deal with a lot of people on their shift, and they’re are a lot of friendly and polite servers. If a server doesn’t get many tips, their boss will question them in why their server is not earning enough money tips. We don’t mind giving a money tip, but we’re never obligated at all. I feel bad when a server doesn’t get a tip or a very small money tip after they served a group of people sitting together. That’s just cheap and low to do that to a server.
In Iowa, USA - I received 10 holidays, bank 2 hr/week sick pay with no max. Upon retirement, cash in up to 800 hours at your last pay rate. Vacation - After 1 year, 2 weeks. After 5 years, 3 weeks. After 10 years, 4 weeks. After 15 years, 5 weeks. I worked for a great company for 35 years & cashed in 800 hours sick time for $45,000. Had the option to take the cash or roll it over into an IRA tax free. Took the IRA.
Again sick days is not given here. I worked at a local hospital for 20yrs and we only got 3 sick days and we only acknowledged 6 holidays and you had to work 3 of the 6 and each year you switched. Starting you only get 10 paid days off for vacay. Max I got 20 days off thats the most you could have
12:52 I haven't seen any tailgating done at baseball games. That is usually more for football games in the fall (autumn).
It's mostly football, but i have seen High School and college baseball tailgating.
Plenty of tailgating at the Atlanta Braves games.
I haven't seen it much here in Colorado. 🙂 Although the baseball stadium Coors Field is in lower downtown Denver and the parking lots are a bit out-of-sight, so maybe I am just not seeing the tailgating when I go. 🙃
LSU baseball has tailgating. but then again, LSU is like tailgating Mecca.

We have cheerleading at basketball games too and tailgating although there is more tailgating at football games. We tip 18% near where I live. My son was 8lbs 5 ounces and 21 inches long 😊 now he’s 6ft tall 😂
After a year you get 5 days vacation in a year. It has to be pre approved. We have no sick time. If you miss from sickness you just don’t get paid. This doesn’t include paid holidays like Christmas and new years. I believe it’s 4 or 5 paid holidays a year. 4th of July, Christmas, thanksgiving, new years. In Louisiana, at least close to New Orleans adds Mardi Gras day.
when i was a manager of fast food i only got 5 vacation days and no sick days per year. also we were closed christmas and thanksgiving both were unpaid

When you work full-time the first year gives you a week and then years after that add up accordingly.
Tailgating started because traffic is so bad before and after the games. Get there early and party takes the sting out of dealing with traffic jams. Better to get there early and tailgate than sit in traffic.
I earn about 12 days a year of "vacation" time and about 8 days a year of sick time, but my employer is considered more generous than average in that department. They also roll over from year to year so I have quite a bit of time saved up. We also get 10 paid holidays per year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) People who work in hospitals likely don't get holidays off but they probably get paid double time for working them. Most typical office jobs will give you paid time off for major holidays. Again, there are no laws (at least in most states, if any?) that your employer give you ANY paid time off. So yeah, it's definitely stupid.
Fun fact: it’s called tail-gating because people in the 60 to later 70’s had station wagon vehicles as opposed to SUV’s. The very back of the station wagon had a door called a tail gate which folded down like a truck tail gate. Families drove those to games. You could cook on small hibachi bbq’s in the back of the station wagon.
month, day, year is easier to file. just look for the files for Feb. and then look inside that file for the day. for places that still use hard copy. where i work at as a cook we do that for the tempatures for the equipment. take the temps 3 times a day of them and easier to just have them in a month folder than 30 day folders
The shoes mainly depends on if someone has carpeting or not. Those without carpeting seem ok with shoes left on. I don't allow shows in our home because of our carpets. Even if we only had wood floors I still wouldn't want shoes on. Yuck. The vacation thing depends on where you work. I have unlimited time off. I have deadlines that need to be met, but I can take off whatever. That is not typical, but again, it depends on where you work. Those having children get an extra 10 weeks now as well.
The amount of vacation time we have in America is generally based on merit and time of service. I’m self-employed, but my wife has worked at her place of employment long enough where she gets five weeks. While we’re definitely not Europe in terms of how much time we have off, we do have more than what is being portrayed here.🤠
In California they must provide 3 days of paid sick leave which is separate from vacation/"holiday".
Don't forget about FMLA which does give you a huge amount of time off. Somebody on here told me it's not paid, I'm not sure as I never had to take it, but if it's not paid it's at least guaranteed that you can take like a year off and still return to your job.
At my last job I think I had over 30 days of paid time off that I never used, so when I was laid off they gave me an extra month of pay as part of the exit package. A Master Chief in the Navy was saying on Twitter that she had two months of paid time off but wasn't sure when she would be able to take it.
If you guys have the opportunity when you arrive in the US, try possum pie. It may not sound that good given the name, but the name is in reference to possums pretending to be dead when they're alive, or pretending to be something they're not to simplify that. It's bottom crust, chocolate, and whipped cream. If you don't have a nut allergy, pecans add to the amazing flavor. If you have a nut allergy, don't add pecans to it for your health and safety. It's amazing, and it's the Arkansas state food.
I've been to many, many restaurants in Tn and VA, and have never seen possum pie on a menu (never even heard of it). Is it more of a regional thing?

Sick days for me are 40 hours a year, so 1 week and vacation is also 40 hours, so 1 week, (mon-friday). Anything more is unpaid
Paid days off, when I started it we received ten vacation days, which is two work weeks. Medical is traditionally stingy with vacation days, hospitals, doctor and dentist offices for instance. Some employers give both vacation and sick days are separate. Then the longer you worked for the company you got additional weeks added and it rolled over, so if you didn’t use all the time in one calendar year it was added to the next year. By the time you reached five years you received a month off, plus two weeks of paid sick time. I think
Canadians call it soccer too. Our major league is the MLS, major league soccer is the highest level. The Canadian teams are part of MLS Too. There are lower level leagues such as the NASL, North America Soccer League.
Regarding the picture of the toilet seats, the ones with the opening at the front are usually on,y found in public restrooms, the full circle ones are in residences.
I tip in a sit down restaurants and bars, my hair dresser and the shuttle driver at the airport because he’s hauling my heavy suitcase up and down the shuttle bus steps. One of my nieces is an esthetician and her clients tip her. I have never heard anyone yelled at for the amount or not leaving a tip.
Generally the table shares appetizers, then people have their own entrees and maybe desserts, although I know a lot of people share desserts because the portion sizes are so big.
Bring a 6 pack of the beer, introduced yourself.. typically they’ll feed you.
Most children do not eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in school
I'm from and live in Kansas City, so if you went to a Chiefs game you'll have people tailgating that will offer you a beer and you get to talking and if they've got the grill or smoker going they'll most likely offer you BBQ. Even if you were to go up to talk to people tailgating they would be very welcoming; especially to a couple of visiting Brits. I went to the Bengals vs. Chiefs game Dec. 31 and it's always amazing. We were halfway between the field and the suites/press box and my niece, that I took with me, got to see Taylor Swift. 3x Super Bowl Champs in the Mahomes era!
In some of the big cities and fa fancy restaurants, the portions are smaller and cost a lot more.
Football tailgating is big 👍

America does have larger portions in their food but that's because we work 50 weeks out of the year
It drastically depends what company/career field you work in over here. There’s really no national standardized amount. I have 2 weeks pto and 80hrs sick leave per year and your standard holidays too

Tipping is not required. It's just expected. Parties of over, like 8, often have a gratuity added (15-20%). But if you have issues with the service, it can be removed.

The Imperial system is dumb. Metric is a much better and simpler system. Twelve inches in a foot, 5280 feet in a mile...and a yard is 3 feet. 1760 yards in a mile. Metric just works better. And Celsius is also better - 0 (32) is freezing and 100 (212) is boiling. Stone is such an odd measurement - 14 lbs? 6.35 kg? Weird.
To be honest I’ve never gone to a Dodger game really early but I doubt there is tailgating. It’s really for football games.
