People didn't smile in victorian photos because it took a long time to take a photo back then and holding a smile for long periods is impossible. Also any movement would distort the photo, ruining it and photographs were quite expensive and only for well off families.

The Victorians were also known to photograph their dead....super creepy. I have an old family photo album from that era and there is a pic of a cousin who died. Also sometimes someone would color in the eyes to make them look open. The one I have someone did that with an ink pen.....I had wondered why it was marked on......accidentally found out that little tidbit.. I could have lived not knowing.

I took my cooked, coffee dyed papers outside with a lighter and a slightly damp rag. I set fire to a corn of some of the papers and controlled where the fire went by tilting the papers at an angle. Once the fire did enough damage, I smothered it with the rag. It took forever to do and made a HUGE mess on my back patio. I haven't done it again since. Maybe I'll do it on a 100% windless day.

Thank you! I had just discovered junk journals a little over a year before making this and had never really crafted before this, so believe in yourself, watch how to videos on youtube, and spend time trying things out when you craft! Eventually, you'll figure out what you like and how to do it!
