Love Buckhead area
I will be a Buckhead resident next month. I’ve been away from Atlanta for 12 years. I lived in Sandy Springs before it succeeded from Atlanta. It did wonders for Sandy Springs which was rapidly becoming violent. I think the breakaway will do wonders for Buckhead. And create more engagement from between residents and law enforcement.
Atlanta police have too many other priorities to really spend the time in Buckhead.
Sandy Springs was never a part of city limits. Creating a city from city limits is currently illegal in Georgia. Sandy Springs WAS governed by the unincorporated Fulton County government. The measure for the law to change in the GA legislature failed this year. They can try again next year but the business community is staunchly against becoming Buckhead City, GA. There is already a Buckhead, GA in between Atlanta and Augusta btw.

I miss Atlanta so much but I'm scared to move back. I used to work across the street from Lenox mall when things were safer.

The average home is $600k ??? Dang i'm from south central LA we got old ragedy homes not even 1000 sq ft sold for almost $1mil it's the craziest sh** ever...
Atlanta's elected Officials and business community leaders not buckhead's residents have lead to all of buchead's strong business climate (fortune 500 companies) over the years. Based on statistics, the violent crime rate in Buckhead is 295 per 100,000 residents, and the rate of property crime is at 1,478 per 100,000 residents. Both these stats are also 70% lower than the national average. The Georgia crime rate is 2408 per 100,000 residents. Which is also considerably higher than Buckhead. After decades of substantial growth, the buckhhead community residents want to us crime as reason to break from the city. If crime was that big of a problem, businesses would not locate to the Buckhead area over multiple years. The violent and property crime rates in the buckhead community is lower than the national and the state rates.
