  • Hi, welcome to Boundless Dentistry, where we make learning dentistry easy and in a fun way.
Deep bite is one of the most common malocclusion encountered in dentistry, more specifically to orthodontists. Although it might look like a less bothersome abnormality, not only it is traumatic for the oral tissues, but treating it is a difficult task.

Thanks doctor for the explanation. I have deep bite, but also lower teeth bone is reducing (as seen on x ray) due to deep bite and grinding.
    Question for doctors:
    1. Can bone mass be improved or retained with sesame intake or anything else?
    2. Does it make sense to go for ortho to correct deep bite, by temporarily using retainer to ensure there's no further trauma due to grinding and deep bite? And then subsequently going for ortho treatment?
    3. Is there anything that could help to stop grinding (as grinding creates sensitivity) ?
    Appreciate your response.

You have to visit the doctor... Without the examination of teeth physically it's difficult to give any suggestions... Your dentist will give you the best advice and as you are saying your teeth are reducing in height they are already in danger in long run your pulp will be exposed it's the heart ofvthe teeth and you ll have tremendous pain and then you might have to go for root canal treatment then crowns for the same and so it's always best to save the tooth rather than wait for it to undergo such painful conditions...

Orthodontic treatment can be offered at any age. The success of treatment depends on your oral hygiene, compliance, and age. :)

Hi sir, i have a deep bite plus narrow arch plus crooked teeth and i have a class 2 profile im 19 btw, my ortho told me i still have chances to grow my jaw and mandible and ive seen some difference, my ortho is using self lighting braces which doesn't need any extractions whats do you say doc?
    Thankyou

Hi. Usually the growth of maxilla and mandible doesn’t happen at this stage. Only changes can be done to the teeth. Extraction might be needed as growth cannot be altered at this stage and age.

Consult a dentist they'll help you to fix the problem. You'll have to wear braces
