Nice job Ben! I started a few months ago, I have one video and I'm currently editing my second one.
I'm starting from scratch (literally zero) so it's taking me longer. I work in Technology, I'll figure it out.
I'm 47 years old 😂 so I'm way older than the average YTber.
I'm also going for a cinematic look. I started with a GoPro and I bought a Lumix with fancier audio (shotgun mic and wireless lava).

It took me 2 years to get to 84k subs uploading CZcams shorts. Having a handful of videos going viral in the millions helped too. 🔥 I started around summer 2021. Just press the record button and go for it.

I’m in the ‘almost ready’ phase for a CZcams channel… been putting the finishing touches to the corner of the garage where my studio is - I’m an artist and will need a wee bit of space :) Got a light, my phone, ideas, Davinci Resolve which my computer can’t run but I don’t care. I’ll freaking edit on whatever I can. I know things won’t be polished the way I want them to be for a long time… it’ll be ugly. It’ll be cringey. I’m past caring! I’m seeing this now cause you’re at over 1.5k now so congrats to you! I just hit over 500 this year which is a pretty good milestone but I need to keep going. I recently reached 200 subs, after uplaoding videos for almost 8 years, and have asked myself multiple times if I should bother doing this. Don't get me wrong, subs are great and I want to share my stories to as many as possible, but I make videos mostly because I like to. I'm not especially good at it, but I want to improve myself, being infront of camera, behind camera, telling stories, editing and the list goes one, and the only way to improve is to try and fail, and then try again. BTW, congrats on 1000 subs 🙂

I'm an introvert too and have been trying to start a faceless channel. Frankly, it feels more difficult than just talking to a camera. My problem is, I don't feel like I have an unfair advantage. I think I can talk about things like work and travel, but I'm not actively traveling. I have to do something, though, because I've just about had it with having a j-o-b.

I am exactly the same. The youtubing introvert. Hard for people to get the paradox in that. My tip is: Always get better but never leave the 411 subscribers mentality. That's when you had the most passion and it's important to keep that humble, grounded attitude. Subscribed :)

You were on my home feed :) - I've been posting for about 10 years now (I stopped posting after CZcams implemented the requirements for the partnership program because my videos basically stopped circulating (especially in the beauty space) but I enjoy creating content and sharing it so I always find myself back on youtube doing just that :) Thank you for sharing your Journey.

I am an introvert as well although many people find it hard to believe as I love hanging out with my friends similar to you but after a certain period it gets draining and I need to recharge on my own similar to you. Your video has been showing up consistently in my feed for the past day or so. I've almost clicked on it a couple of times, but finally did today. Most if not all of the folks watching this are either small CZcamsrs or considering jumping in. We're the same. We started filming for our channel a year ago, and released our first video last July. It is definitely a journey that has transformed our lives and our focus. Thanks so much for the encouragement! This can be a hard road to take. There is so much to learn, and so many mistakes along the way. There's no way to put into words the frustration of spending 2 days editing a video and getting 5 views! All you can do is just realize that it sucks and try to get better. 🙂

I genuinely enjoyed this. My wife and I are discussing the idea of starting a channel to discuss our lives from dating to present day, our future goals and the plans to get there. We're both 42 and have lofty retirement goals and starting a channel may be something we can use for future income. Good luck on your journey!

Congrats on blowing up, man. It's encouraging to know that once you get close, the subs come a lot quicker. It looks like you've gotten over 1,500 subs in just the last 3 weeks alone, so that is fantastic! I got discouraged after getting to 639 subs, and I quit posting for 9 days. Then I uploaded a video yesterday and today, and they both took off, getting over 12K views and over 100 subs since yesterday. I feel I'm getting close, now at 746, and 1,000 subs doesn't seem so far away anymore. Keep up the good inspiration!

I've recently been uploading more videos on my CZcams channel. I've switched from mostly software dev content (my profession) to videos around my artwork and software side projects. Still figuring out overall CZcams goals, but am moving forward with 74 subs. I wish I had watched this video before starting my own faceless CZcams channel! These tips are so helpful and would have saved me so much time and trial-and-error. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience, it's never too late to learn and improve as a content creator (I also found out that using a bit of Famester has leveled up my channel even more). Hi Ben we just started our channel a l little over a month ago . I mainly did it for us to look back at our journey and say wow we have traveled everywhere ! This was one of the hardest things i have done in my life ( I’m a nurse Practitioner do i have done some pretty hard things ). I’m self conscious so it’s hard to put me in front of the camera lol. Our videos don’t get a lot of views that’s ok . We will be starting to change the way we film the videos to include us More lol wish us luck !! We really loved your video today. Hey Ben, when we started to do youtube 4 years ago, the very small jumps at the beginning were very encouraging. We have over 60k subs now so its hard to find inspiration, when the jumps are few and far between. The challenge is finding a good topic, title and thumbnail. Topic is really tough because there is what you know and want to talk about, then there is what want to hear. Mutually exclusive. My tip to you would be get out and vlog in public, an vlog around people, you will begin to be more comfortable on camera. Obviously just make lots of videos, get better with each one. Tell a story, when you share your experiences and your adventures. We have a channel focused on living in a RV full time and traveling. Takes hundreds of videos to get good enough for people to watch you. The bar has really Been raised, you tube is very competitive in almost every niche, you live in NZ, its beautiful there, instead of sitting in front of a camera in your office, get out there and do it somewhere you want to share with some random guy from florida like me. I the camera is not important, personality and story will get people to watch. Larry

You had me at the raised pinky. That was really nice to watch. I'm from Cairns, AU and make running videos. I've been doing it for 4 years and have 436 subscribers. I do it for a similar reason to you. It challenges me. I'm challenged by the creative aspect. Give me a spreadsheet and a finite answer and I can work with it. Creativity is tough but I enjoy the challenge.

I wanted to capture moments that i can look back on. I have some vhs tapes that i might get around to uploading. Recently, i realized that having youtube as a side gig is actually a possibility.
