Every so often, I like to watch this video. It's like a time machine for me. You drove around my old stomping grounds, my old schools. Awesome video.

Did you ever go to Rolling Acres Mall? I watch videos of that mall a lot. It was in the outskirts of Akron.

Thanks for posting this. I'm happy someone (you) videoed parts of the city that are now gone, like Spicer Town. I grew up in Ellet and went to AU. Don't know what you've got till it's gone. I especially liked the 88 cent gas price, which we probably complained about at the time. Great memories, great stuff. Thanks.

Thanks for the thanks. Who knew we would have a vehicle like CZcams to share it with the world? It was done just for my personal memories. I had been away from Akron about 15 years in '87.

This era is gone forever. Gone our the days when people drove big cars, with real mechanical parts, not stealership controlled.

My grandma and grandpa lived on Curtis Street in a giant house very similar to the bigger ones in the beginning of the video.
Those houses were actually 3 floors. The attic space was so large you could finish it off and have an entire separate apartment up there.
My uncle John lived on the 3rd floor of grandma and grandpas house.
Thanks for jogging such a pleasant memory for me.
I loved that big giant house and I loved my grandparents and my Uncle John.

Born in Akron in 1972. Went to Bettis, Hatton, Hyre, Ellet, and Graduated from Garfield in 1990. Three bustling shopping malls. Portage lakes fishing. Wingfoot lake. Summer fireworks downtown. Children's Palace. Gold Circle. Brown Derby at Chapel Hill. O'Neils downtown. Civic Theater Easter talent show. No internet. No cell phones. You had to connect with ppl. It was a better time. 80s we will never get back but memories

That was I-76 you took to Brimfield, not I-80.
I remember Bob's Marathon there at SR43 and I-76. They worked (and his sons still do) on my car. The old Holiday Inn, where Stan Piatt used to host WNIR parties, has been torn down.
And WNIR had not yet moved its transmitter tower next to I-76.
