I made mine out of cedar after watching your video. I couldn’t bring myself to burn finish it, I just used tung oil. Anyways, I’m very happy with how it turned out so thank you so much for sharing.
Rustic Goose - You da man! I have all the tools you used, a bunch of recently downed cedars, and now armed with the knowledge you kindly provided, will start on my Christmas present list for next year. Great video with the chipmunk voices and all. You can get the little copper guards for bluebird houses and the 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 diameter holes work fine (got some from Amazon). However, I have found that the metal needs to be sandwiched underneath another wood layer, so their little feet can grab when they land on the outside of the hole. With the bluebirds, it is good to have a way to clean out the old nests for the following season. Thanks again for the informative video.
great i was thinking of doing some chainsaw carving and you have gave me the insperation,is that just a flapwheel disc on the grinder. Thanks very much for sharing
Thank you, I was thinking of making a bunch that look slightly different and make a little village for the garden, maybe with some mushrooms and such. And good idea with the ring, some copper would look nice.
@@GooseRustic I know this video was done a year ago I just had it in my suggestions last night, was wondering if you did make the little village for the garden? If so do you have pictures would love to see it.. Been wanting to do a Fairy garden with Natural Items and wanted to see what you did for some Ideas.
I think you might need to fill the hole in the bottom if you want something to nest in here..lol.plus the rspca don't recommend perches on nest boxes to stop larger birds landing and taking eggs/chicks..still looks cool..
+fishtank5050 thanks for watching! I did put a piece of wood on the bottoms with some screws Incase something did make I️t a home. I wanted I️t more for a yard decoration so it was sitting on the ground in a flower bed.
Not really sure about what grit I can’t read the writing on it anymore. I’d think it would have been the courser of them because I had some flap discs for the higher grits if I needed them.
Awesome work! You really have talent and know how to use those tools! I've done a little woodworking but would love to do something like this or the dough bowl I saw in another of your videos. Do you make the bowls to sell or just for your own enjoyment and pleasure? I have one bowl that was hand-carved and is very old but I would love to have a collection of them. I think I might be able to do the carving out and have all the tools needed. What type of wood do you prefer to use for the bowls? Keep up the great work and share on YT. Look forward to seeing more videos! Take care and stay safe!
Thanks for all the kind words, I really appreciate it. I do sell a lot of stuff that I make. I have a website and we do shows locally. I like to make stuff out of all different woods, they all have their own qualities that I love. Using something like pine will make the carving easier because of how soft the wood is and it’s quite a bit cheaper if you have to buy it. But really you can carve any wood with the right tools. You will want to do a few so you can mess around with figuring out the drying process because that seems to be it’s own art form. Stay safe and keep in touch.
Thank you for answering my questions! I’ve always loved woodworking, especially seeing what others do with it in their own interpretation of how to use a piece of wood. My ex-husband and I owned a small construction company and I was an active partner in the company. I also own property where I can probably find wood to use. I would just like to try my hand at it. I have other things I like to do to keep my hands, mind and heart busy...I’ve just always loved the smell of sawdust and watching a piece of wood become something special!! It always amazes me to see what others see in a piece of wood and use it to create something incredible! Whether it’s a bowl, a birdhouse, a carved bird, or a table and chairs, I just love watching a seemingly plain piece of wood reveal its inner beauty! Please continue to post videos and share your vision and talents. I look forward to seeing them!!
Thank you, it takes maybe an hour to completely finish one once you have done a couple. Would be quicker to drill the hole but I didn’t have a large bit. And it was an old square nail salvaged from an old house that I worked on.
+BlackBearSix.TV they were some pine logs a buddy found on the side of the road. Cutting the soft wood doesn’t dull the chain too much, but my chain was a bit dull for the video. I would think you can make quite a few of them.
If people do not wish to see do some great art work with a chainsaw then they better not watch a artist carve a block of ice with a Electric chainsaw. Yes that is the way a lot of chef's do ice sculptures. But the real way is to use chisels. O I liked the pitch of the roof.
Nice but you do not list the specific tools you used... The Chainsaw and carving(?) bar type, the Angle grinder disc type etc. etc. - Some You Tube posters are more thorough and we can understand the process a lot better! - It takes only a few minutes to list the in the description... Thanks again.
that is my favorite from all the rest videos i have viewed. Great job it's so beautiful. thank you for sharing your beautiful artsy carved birdhouse.
Great skills and a BEAUTIFUL JOB !! Been wanting to take my chain saw out for a while .... now I know what I need to do !! Thanks !!

Awesome!! I’m glad I could inspire you a little bit. Be safe.
Love your style. Trying that asap
really expectacular ,. very good, congratulations
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I was terribly offended by that abuse of your chainsaw...not. Coolest thing I've seen in while. Really liked the burn effect too. Great job!
Beautiful 👍👍👍👍👍
Really enjoyed it, thank you
Awesome job.

Very nice design. I’ll be trying to copy this one. I’ll have to add a metal ring around the opening to keep out Mr. pesky squirrel.
Thank you, I was thinking of making a bunch that look slightly different and make a little village for the garden, maybe with some mushrooms and such. And good idea with the ring, some copper would look nice.

alus pisan.. very good bro
Great job! [Needs bottom and top {or under eave} vents. Very well done.
Thank you sir. I guess it’s a hot roof, might get some ice damning if they stick around for the winter.
super travail!!

Nice piece , what grit is that Gallahad...
Buen vídeo interesante.

Awesome
Wow.
Beautiful work. Do you prefer to work with green or seasoned wood for projects like this?
Green is always easiest.

LOVED IT, BUT DID YOU USE A SCREW FOR A LANDING PEG? AND HOW LONG DID IT ACTUALLY TAKE TO DO IT?
Thank you, it takes maybe an hour to completely finish one once you have done a couple. Would be quicker to drill the hole but I didn’t have a large bit. And it was an old square nail salvaged from an old house that I worked on.
Nice work! How many of these can you make before you have to sharpen the chain? And, what kind of wood re you using? Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the reply - gonna try your method.
That's quality. In real time how long did it take?
Barry Kerr I think it took an hour to an hour and a half. Once you get a system down you can buzz right through them. Thanks for watching!
Looks ace, but I disagree with you when you say that is not what a chain saw should be used for, I can't think of a better use for a chain saw 👍
He was talking to the Safety Sally Crowd who don't allow Plunge Cuts...
Dobrzy ludzie budują domki dla ptaków.
To cieszy, że im więcej domków, tym więcej dobrych ludzi :).
Loved it, How much
How are you going to clean it out every season. Very important.
Great video! Is that a regular chainsaw bar you are using?
Yes it was.
where ya gonna put it? it's a door stop lol.
Wondered what I could do to make money. I happen to know from experience that what your doing is a lot of fun
Thank you
So much fun. People loved chainsaw carved stuff. Thank you
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😘
Uh oh - no ear protection. He'll be sorry!

Chainsaw? 460 Husqvarna?
Nice skills but there is no sense in making such a birdhouse. Has there anything nested in it?
Wszystko ładnie tylko ten gwóźdź nie pasuje
yes c'est nul domage
Nie gwóźdź , przy wejściu do bódki.
