In April 2013 the developers had decided not to use Kevin in the role, preferring a younger voice for Batman's early career. Roger Craig Smith was announced as the voice of Batman and Troy Baker as the Joker. Conroy said at the 2013 Dallas Comic Con that he had been working on "the next Arkham", inspiring speculation that he would reprise his role as Batman in Arkham Origins.

Have a lot of respect for this man. My dad managed to contact him and asked him if he could record a message to lift the spirits of my brother who has cancer, as a birthday present. He went beyond our expectations by sending us a video recording of himself presenting a heartfelt message, showing that he cares about his fans and truly wants my brother to keep going strong. What a great batman and even better human.

So because WB had no communication between its development teams, a very easily avoidable leak was done because their own employees didnt know there was more going on, and its Kevin's fault?

@@primusfan87 WB definitely has some issues going on at the executive level. Not sure I'd call them garbage though, when they get out of their own way they release quality games, tv and movies. Swamp Thing is a great example of that, that show rocked - but executives pulled the plug before it had a chance to even finish a season.
Actors are expected to say "I don't know", whenever presented with a question they aren 100% sure about
So if he wasn't sure that Arkham Knight was being released, he should have just shrugged and left. Would have saved a lot of trouble.

Yeah if that no Comic-Con rule actually went through the backlash would have been so bad that they would probably have backed down anyway honestly. You can't just stop supporting Kevin Conroy at Comic-Cons. The man is built for them and I don't know a person alive that dislikes the man. He would have gotten so much vocal support.

I remember when this happened- it was early/mid 2013, not long after the game had been announced (like Kevin said). Knight wouldn’t be properly announced until a year later. But in all that time, thanks to Kevin’s slip up, everyone knew that Rocksteady’s next project would be a proper Arkham game, with Kevin returning. It wasn’t his fault, but yep... it was basically an informal announcement.
I mean, but who didn’t already know rocksteady was making another Arkham game.
I remember they tried to do some "damage control", and Conroy was listed as "older Bruce Wayne" on the Origins IMDB page.

Classic WB at work lol. This kind of "leak" actually causes speculation and excitement. Plus it was pretty obvious there would be another Arkham by Rocksteady after the way City ended.
Long story short WB is 100% at fault and Kevin had a simple misunderstanding due to WB refusing to pick up the phone to give everyone a quick heads up of hey don't spoil this cause we have 2 games being made at the same time
I am so happy I've met this man, he was cool as hell. I figured I was just getting a autograph, and then he asks, "you want a photo?" Um..hell yes. Also happy I finally at one point had my phone ready for him to say that iconic line and record it. And we know the line.

For a long time, I didn't even know that Origins didn't have Kevin Conroy as Batman until 2 years after the game was released. Roger Craig Smith did a good job. I thought it was Kevin Conroy the entire time. I don't read blogs or posts or watch video game interviews or other media when a game is going to be released. While agree that every game should have Kevin Conroy as Batman, I'll also be the first to say that when Conroy steps down, the mantle should go to Roger Craig Smith based on his work in Origins. His Batman voice is the closet to Conroy's, hands down. Warner Bros. screwed up but not telling Conroy about Origins. Why do that?
Roger was great as Batman really but there is a pretty big difference from him and kevin and since he was playing a younger Batman that is a good thing but I could definitely tell the difference ya know?
I don’t feel like Kevin can voice a young Batman at this point, his voice is to grizzled. Same with Hamill playing a young Joker. Their voices have aged too much.

Was playing Multiverses with my daughter. Just hearing his voice, along with the nice score of the game really made me miss him lots today.
He was so good to my daughter when we met him. He did Batman’s voice and asked her for help to stop the Joker. Hearing one of my heroes do that for my daughter just blew my mind. A couple of months later, he died. 😔 RIP sir.
He said all of this knowing that SSKTJL was in the works and that there would, in fact, be another Arkham Game. What a legend

It’s almost like this was completely WB’s fault due to not telling one of the most famous people attached to their games about the games
Correction: Some of the cast from the Arkham Trilogy reprised their roles in the Arkham Origins game. Tara Strong, Nolan North, CCH Pounder, Peter MacNicol, Grey Griffin, Mark Rolston, Maurice LaMarche, and Martin Jarvis all reprised their iconic roles for Arkham Origins. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill were the two main Arkham trilogy voice actors who were not in Arkham Origins.
However, Kevin Conroy should have been informed of the existence of Arkham Origins by the studio. The fact he was not informed was a real disservice by the studio. And they punished him for not knowing? How absurd and disrespectful.

Arkham Knight wasn't announced and Kevin signed a contract stating he wouldn't reveal details of an upcoming project, hence why the phone call from WB states he's 'breach of contract.'
Does not surprise me, on mortal kombat 11 they literally didn't even call the real voice of scorpion to do the voice, he didn't even knew the game was in development. Sometimes companies shit on voice actors really bad and its sucks.

I assume the reason they don't want things being announced early is probably because marketing's whole job is the find the "sweet-spot", where announcing it will hold the most attention, and have the most impact.
That said, man we're blessed to have a guy like this in voice acting.

i personally loved arkham knight even though the vehicular combat wasn't very favourable but it was still a masterpiece but any standards today
I think the reason why WB didn't use Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill in Arkham Origins is because recording Arkham Knight spends Too much time. I don't think even in the case Kevin Conroy was aware of Arkham Origins, him and Mark could have time to do it. Arkham Origins was released in 2013, and in that period, Arkham Knight was in production, so I guess that's the real reason why

yes so WB montreal wanted a new batman game pushed out every two years but arkham knight was going to take 4 years to make so WB made arkham origins to stick to the schedule

At this point, accidental announcements are just a staple for Batman games. I love it.
That's what I was curious about of why they didn't added his voice in that Arkham origins game he should have been in it since he's the top main character for Batman's voice compares to others who couldn't get to him to making the perfect Batman and Bruce Wayne voices too

At one of the early Dublin Comic Cons has Kevin there but he wasn't allowed to do a QnA bit only Autographs. Warner Bros didn't want him to do a QnA in case things leak.

Sounds like Warner Bros. is the one to blame for this situation for getting different voice actors for Origins and not making the original actors aware of Origins’ existence.
If you keep your employees in a bubble and they’re asked “Are you in the next Arkham game?” and the actor asks “Did they even announce it yet?” and when fans truthfully answer yes, you can expect that the actor would be under the impression that what he’s talking about isn’t confidential at that point.
But why should any of the execs care? They can blame the employees under them even if they didn’t do anything wrong. But then again, he’s the definitive voice of Batman, so it’s not like they can fire him.
Kevin Conroy's natural voice is exactly how Batman sounds like.
Bruce Wayne, yeah. But he shifts and gruffy-s it a bit for Batman.
