@@lalagirl211 you don"t know the charity work she's involved with because it's not highly publicized. Even way before she's involved in pageants she's already helping under privileged children. She renovated an old apartment building and turned it to a special needs center and a school for those under privileged children. How's that for an answer?

Oh hello, yes Ms. Vietnam was in the running temporarily! That's ONE DONATION to build a library that provides literacy to all walks of life... However, Catriona's involvement to work with the poorest children in the slums of Tondo, continually brings more smile and happiness to the local children... a thousand-fold! A library is just a place to borrow books, or to acquire knowledge and resources... whereas working "hands on serving the poorest population" shows more inter-personal involvement... At 12 years old, I assisted my mother in providing free dental work on SUNDAYS Clinic , the town dentist at the time. I gave up playtime to serve the town people. Those were the most memorable times of my life... My whole family moved to California thereafter. I enjoyed serving the needy... The library is self-serve!

I just say that in matter of fhisical beauty other girls take the crown. For example Venezuelan girls body was outstanding. Catriona really has a generic body with nothing extraordinary. But like I say if they were looking for girls with experiences in giving speech Catriona was the girl.
Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela answered for "what" question only, while Miss Philippines answers on "what" and "how" to apply it as Miss Universe. Very precised answer. Thats why she won.

When Pia's reign finally ended, Paula Shugart in parting said that Pia had raised the bar so high for Miss Universe, it was during that very particular interview with Boy Abunda that this was cited which made Pia tear up. Fast forward to the present and we have Catriona again winning for PH just after 3 years after Pia's winning. As like with Pia generally and globally, many have now repeatedly stated that Catriona has again raised the bar much higher than before. I think shes beautiful and this is honestly my first miss universe I've watched with my wife. But i do have a question. Around the world there are now more multi racial babies being born. Is it fair for them to compete and be a representative of that country? My wife asked me, if one of the contestant, like miss china was half chinese and half German. And if she happens to win....is she really winning as miss china? Not trying to be offensive, just curious

@@bobjohnson6131 I think it depends upon the rules of miss universe pageant org. so long as half blooded contestant representing ones country for MU pageant is not prohibited under MU pageantry rules its ok for me whether the contestant is half or full blooded candidate. Secondly, I think the rules of MU pageantry is based on ones citizenship and not by consanguinity regardless of whether the contestant is full or half blood. In our country. our law on citizenship is based on jus sanguines which means that if ones father or mother is a Filipino citizen the law recognizes him/her as a natural Filipino citizen. based on this law Catriona is a NATURAL FILIPINO CITIZEN.
