I'm one of the lucky ones who cleaned up their diets, lost weight, exercised, totally eliminated sugar. I was still single, not even trying to conceive. I was just doing all those things once I learned that I had PCOs at 29 to help my body conceive when I meet someone valuable and when I'm ready to have kids. I know it sounds weird, but I was getting my body ready. I've been irregular all my life. But all these changes really help clear up my skin and improved my cycle.
Fast forward, I met my husband at 32, also took stuff like vitex and conceived 2 healthy kids out of the blue, we weren't even trying. I was just off the pill. If it happens, fine, if not, fine, no pressure.
They are both great surprises. My son is now 4. My daughter is 18 months. 2 kids is more than I could ever dream of so I'm good. Almost 39, I won't push my luck. I am well aware that I was lucky and that a lot of women are struggling to conceive naturelly. I'm truly grateful everytime I look at my kids. I am praying for the ones who are trying. Good luck. Try to do all the things she mentionned, lose weight, clean up you lifestyle. It won't hurt. Fingers crossed you'll conceive soon.

So I just want to put this out there. I had undiagnosed PCOS for all my adolescent life. I had 1 period when I was 12 and no more after that instead of believing I was a virgin and there might be something wrong with I was made to take pregnancy tests. I ended up with endometrial cancer because of the build up when I was old enough to get my own insurance. Ignorance is powerful. So I appreciate what you are doing by informing people. You and people like you are helping make a huge difference. I went through all the treatments you mentioned and then had to do 6 rounds of ivf to finally get pregnant with my daughter.

I also had undiagnosed PCOS my entire adolescence. Plus too much prolactin. I was always chubby, could never lose weight. My first period I had when I was 13. Then I had 2 more until I was 19 and they figured out what I was suffering from. I wish I had gone to the doctor but I honestly never knew it was an issue, until I got abnormal hair growth and acne. We need to educate girls about their bodies. This lacked in sex ed.

I thought it might be worthwhile to say that while Metformin may not do as much directly for getting pregnant, it did help me to lose weight when I had been trying for a long time. With insulin resistance/PCOS losing weight can really be difficult and for me Metformin was/is a very helpful solution and in that way was also very helpful in my fertility journey.

Are you still planning to do a live video for PCOS questions? I hope so! I'd be first in line! In case you don't...I am going to jot my question here, and maybe you or someone else might answer :)
I am curious about follicles that have remained on the ovaries for an extended period of time. When PCOS ovaries try to ovulate but don't, does the vault just keep releasing eggs? How long do the follicles stick around? AND when clomid or femara is taken and one of the follicles finally grows large enough to release an egg, is there any indication that there is a higher chance for genetic abnormalities? Thank you and love love love the work you do!

Hi Dr. Crawford! your videos have been really informative and helpful. I would like to understand do people diagnosed with PCOS always have it (meaning ever since their first menstruation their ovaries release more eggs each month thus messing up the hormonal balance)? Do the symptoms simply show at a later time for some than others? If someone had a successful pregnancy before but now is showing symptoms of PCOS and having difficulty conceiving again, what are the chances that PCOS only developed after the first pregnancy? And what factors could’ve caused the development if it is new? Thank you so much!

I had pcos and it was confirmed last yr, I was never ovulating. Then I went on a 59 day bleed, it seemed scary but actually my blood count never dropped compared to women who had regular cycles. That 59 day bleed started in July, I went to my OBGYN and she said she sees it. Sometimes the woman’s body begins to regulate with sudden changes. The only thing I did differently was I lost almost 30 pounds in two months. I also was eating foods without sugars and all whole food -organic. I had no blocked tubes, no cyst, I do believe it was a brain thing not ovaries Becuz they were fine as well. No thyroid issues. Sure enough like my OBGYN said track to see if cycles kept coming I would then only have a 3-4 day cycle and when testing I’m now seeing my high fertile days. Currently TTC and praying hard for this months.

Out of curiosity, why can't ongoing ovulation medications cure PCOS? I don't understand why ovulation induction medication is only given for ovulation purposes when TTC with PCOS rather than on an ongoing basis if ovulation is what the body is 'supposed' to do in healthy individuals and why they can't cure the condition in certain cases if it's done on an ongoing basis and you get rid of those accumulated partially matured follicles in the ovaries by doing this. Can you clarify the causal mechanism of why PCOS cannot ever be cured through that approach if the partially matured follicle accumulation in the ovaries is causing your PCOS symptoms? Thanks.

Thanks for explaining everything. Great information and more understanding. I was wondering if you could talk about uterine fibroids and Endometriosis. Or the have another condition starts with A, sorry I can't remember the name. I am trying to get pregnant but I history of uterine fibroids and 9 years ago I had a miscarriage with fibroids . Not sure if that cause my miscarriage but around the time I was starting to bleed and they side one side look like I on my period and the other side pregnant. Then they couldn't tell if I was pregnant with twins because they told me I had a mass. The baby I know had a heartbeat and was growing so far. I was 14 weeks and 5 days miscarriage four days before that they said that mass supposedly was a uterus fibroid size of 4cm/5cm growing with from my hormones. Just the baby on ultrasound was good baby was moving heartbeat was 154. Then Bam! Right before my Dr appointment I passed the baby and went to the Dr and had a horrible smell of infection it wasn't there before I was all cleared 4 days ago. I was wondering if it was from the fibroid that caused it? I didn't get to much of information from my Dr at the time. Like she was hiding something or idk. They technician who does the ultrasounds was given me more info then the Dr. I know she wasn't supposed to but she was upset that the Dr not given me more info that I need when I was questioning her. I did had a D&C the next day after the miscarriage. Now I am 35 hoping to conceive and keep the baby full term. But also been told maybe I am going through premenopause I do get hot flashes some months. I just want to have some better understanding.

I just got Diagnosed with PCOS and I do have poor ovulation. Doctor is having me on metformin and letrozole. Since I’m 33 she told me she didn’t want to waste time . So I have 3 cycles to try this medication and if I’m not pregnant then I go to a fertility specialist. I just start metformin today and when I start my cycle I’ll do the other. Wish me luck ❤️

@@rachelveektaw4349 unfortunately no. I did 3 cycles and I didn’t conceive. Now my only option is IVF. So we are taking a break and saving money so we can afford IVF. I was devastated of course when it didn’t work.
So while we save for IVF I might consider adoption as well. So most likely have one adopted kid and one of my own once I do IVF. How’s your journey so far?

So my genes gave me clomid earlier this year but no luck with getting pregnant. My latest visit he did homogeneous tests and said everything looked normal but my eggs work slow and no way to medically fix that. I have no idea what that means but i do have cysts and fibroids and also struggle with very irregular periods.
It is so frustrating not knowing what is wrong and the no medical way to fix it makes you want to lose hope.

I found out that I had fibroids and the doctor told me there’s a 50/50 chance of getting pregnant as they are not sure. I was pregnant and I miscarried at 3 months. I want to remove it but I’m scared too because I head after you remove it you might not get pregnant anymore. So a friend told me about Dr breeze who gave me root and herbs that that helped me to completely shrink my fibroid and I conceive after months I have a baby girl now..
