  • The 500 Words competition winners have been announced by Chris Evans on his breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.
    The story writing competition for kids has grown in popularity year after year.
    Radio DJ Chris Evans set up the competition to get children of all ages excited about reading and writing.
    More than half a million pupils have written a story for the competition over the years; clocking up over 215 million words!
    Ricky went to meet Chris and the other judges to find out a little more about how the winning stories are picked.
    Here is the winners' list in full:
    10-13 years category
    Gold: Ned Marshall - e-COURTROOM.com
    Silver: Clara Cowan - The Sands of Time
    Bronze: Ben Bailey - The Great Cookie Quest
    5-9 years category
    Gold: Evie Fowler - Poor Pig's Revenge
    Silver: Katie Denyer - The Grannies who Flew to the Moon
