This is why I don't believe it when they say HS is more predominant in women. Men just don't talk about it as much. They suffer in silence. That's how it is for mental health.

As a dude who was hiding HS symptoms and powering through as best as I could for almost 20 years - I am of the same opinion. Though I do have a diagnosis now I did not tell anyone else but my parents and doctors and even talking to doctors I catch myself minimizing how bad it is/was in the past years. The boils started in my groin when I was 12-13, and even back then I already had this twisted mentality and I did not tell my parents or anyone else. It is how I was molded by society since birth, how my brain was wired, is wired... Even though on a rational level I now understand living like this is beyond dumb and it hurts me most of all, but it also hurts people around me in a way. I can't just flip a switch to rewire my brain, baby steps I guess.

I had it for 18 years before I went to a dr. I knew I had it from Googling my symptoms over the years. I would just deal with it...
