- On this walk through the charming and almost forgotten Portuguese parish of Alvoco da Serra, municipality of Seia in Serra da Estrela, we will show you a little of its daily life, its nature, architecture and its people.
"Alvoco da Serra is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Seia with a population density of 12.4 inhabitants/km². Located in the heart of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, at 684 meters above sea level, it is the closest village to the Tower. Around, there is no lack of multiple possibilities for great walks, discovering the wonders and secrets of the mountain, among legends and ancient stories.It belongs to the network of Mountain Villages in the Municipality of Seia.
Alvoco da Serra is a town with strong traditions and very old origins, preserving some vestiges of the Roman presence, namely a sidewalk where coins from the time were found.
As a municipality, Alvoco da Serra received a charter from King Manuel I on February 17, 1514. In 1801, it had 667 inhabitants. In 1836, the county was extinguished, along with many others, during António de Aguiar's reforms. Between 1836 and 1855 it belonged to the municipality of Loriga and became part of the municipality of Seia." cm-seia.pt/mun...

Passei grande parte da minha infância aí em Alvoco , a minha Avó , mais tarde ia lá visitar a minha Tia Zé , que saudades .
