4:54, I used to do the same with my creance and had the same exact problem. Now I secure the creance from both ends, leaving a ring inside, then I attach the leash to the ring. It has worked great for me!!!

I do chuckle about what people think when they see a hawk flying back to you, they have no idea how much work goes into training and what can turn a bird on or off during the course of your day. Working as a pestie my 2 get so many different scenarios where they are asked go fly I'm surprised they don't loose there mind all the time and fly off. Such a great job we have. I especially appreciate that you are, unlike so many others, are honest enough to show what and that even to the experienced can go wrong and how to handle these situations! Much more learned from an issue and a solution than from a pure "textbook demonstration"! You are doing falconry a great favour, in my humble opinion. Please keep up your great work! After flying Eagles and Falcons I have soon to pick up an untouched last years Harris Hawk and your videos are giving me convidence that they actually can be trained without becomming notorious screamers. 😅 All the best from across the Channel. Lading on my head, shoulder or any where she could on my body. I got rid of the line as soon as she started this and went walking with her following on. I found she likes to keep close to me and will look for me even if I hide from her. Harris's are a great Bird.

The more I see of these well-managed Harris's Hawks, the more impressive they are! Kind of an all-purpose bird that doesn't have a ton of weaknesses... Are they good on birds, as well? I've not seen much video of them, other than some Italian videos on pheasant...
@lohikarhu734 the one hunting in my videos recently is only for hares and has been trained not to react to birds , I’ve had some superb flights on ducks and pheasants with hh, but if it’s your main bag, and you’re flying off the fist , they’re more goshawk territory . If hh flown from trees you’ll get more success at gamebirds and the reality is the hh needs to be fit

Hi Dave can I get a bit of advice mate. I've got a 2nd season lanner and I reversed mounted her last season. So I switched on to evening feeds as we've lost the light. However as March is approaching and mornings are gonna start getting lighter I have started changing her onto morning feeds for flying in the summer. but she's is only taking a small amount and stepping off the food. Then in the Evening she is calling for food. I felt bad so I've gave in to her tonight and now she's happy with one leg tucked up. Any advice would be appreciated shed currently at 1lb 8.8oz 👍
Advice on feeding or the noise? Feeding wise if you dont feed in the evening, as her weight drops she’ll start eating in the morning as usual. Noise wise she may well call in the evening till she’s swapped her body clock over … could get annoying ! Maybe you can offer her food without casting in the morning, is she doenst feed much , offer her a fair bit of food that’s very high in casting but little meat on it to make he free full ? If I use nit an issue just don’t feed her in evening and she’ll work it out once properly hungry in mornings

As she will normally sit with me in the evenings on the glove watching TV and yours vids . Your certainly right however . I think I will have to be a bit more self disciplined until her clock adapts .Thanks for the advice Dave really appreciated mate .👍

The crux for me I would like to fly all year round however the light and the time you have to start work is difficult. So normally come the end of march .I'm up at 5 am coffe get prepared hood weigh and we are up into the fields for about 7am .and that gones on every day until we start loosing the light again. Early October. Shes blocked out all day.Then off course as the light fades she's still asleep in the morning when. You getting up to give her a feed and not really ready for the the food .so off course now early evening feeds set in and yes this presents problems. You know yourself Dave ,certainly during winter we are not get that full light until 0830 and that really would be nice to have that consistency to hood weigh and fly your bird. But employers are not that forgiving unfortunately. I would love to jack it all in tomorrow and just fly my bird .daylight and money are the two cruxs of my life .😀
