I nearly bought one of those when it came out till I found out the cassette head was mono! I mean MONO! Cost cutting for no reason as the cd and usb outputs in stereo so it is a stereo amp. Even fm is in mono. We’re talking probably not even a couple of pounds to make this from meh to amazing! The manufacturer has really missed an opportunity here. Here’s hoping a mk2 version is changed to full stereo and the manufacturer takes note!

Wow what a beautiful nostalgic looking piece. Crazy to think I wouldve listened to this as a kid directly on those built in speakers. Now i wouldnt be caught dea without some bookshelves lol
Looking at this I think of the first CD pickup mechanisms, that were the size and the weight of a brick. And the logic board for only controlling the head was larger than this whole device. However if we showed this to the engineers back in 1982 I guess they wouldn't be really proud of us.
Also, in 1982, this would have been built to last with a far better attention to higher quality components.
Я подруге недавно такой примерно старый магнитофон мини бумбокс модернизировал, кто-то ей его спалил и она принесла его на ремонт мне. Я его разобрал, все внутренности выкинул, установил туда усилитель с алиэкспресс 2х3 ватт, и под крышкой CD установил блютуз модуль. В качестве питания прилепил зарядку от телефона на 2А и магнитофон ожил! Правда теперь он поддерживает USB и Bluetooth. Подруга довольна))

I have a blue Emerson stereo that would make cassette salad unless I use a cassette adapter plugged into an auxiliary audio source.

Retekess tr621 cassette tape player/recorder is MONO and not stereo and also DC BIAS RECORDING and worst counterfeit cassette mechanism.... SONY CFD-S70 is still the best BOOMBOX, has a STEREO TAP HEAD, GENUINE CASSETTE MECHANISM (CSG stamp on it) and AC BIAS RECORDING....

Hm. Seeing how there was a splash of solder preventing the cassette deck from working properly, as well as too fast playback raises a lot of questions. Has it even been quality tested?
My guess is on either no, or that the quality control at the factory is lackluster at best and completley nonexistent at worst. I thought Retekess made their products better than what the comments are saying, but if that is any indicator, then The Antenna Man's review of select Retekess antenna models on his channel would end up being rather unfavorable. That could mean that the AM/FM tuner may be absolute garbage.
I've considered this model several times, but seeing the tape get eaten here has me hesitating. I would want to be able to use the tape functions.

the amplifier seems to be a stereo one, so I assume only the CD player is gonna be in stereo, everything else is mono

Retekess TR621 cassette mechanism and the motor is counterfeit... and also a MONO TAPE HEAD... and worst DC BIAS RECORDING..... I still prefer SONY CFD-S70.... STEREO DIGITAL AM/FM RADIO, CD (MP3 on CD) PLAYER, AUX INPUT, CASSETTE PLAYER/RECORDER with AC BIAS RECORDING (even permanent black erase magnet). But lack of USB PLAYER, but the sound is very good and the cassette mechanism is genuine (CSG STAMP on it).

this type of unit disposable because the electronics parts uses smd type difficult to trouble and buying purchase spare component hard to find in electronics store.

What is all music name in the CD? I think it from CZcams Audio Library, but I forgot the name.
Why would the *switch* on the side MAKE A STRANGE *Repeating static* SOUND, NOT TURN ON the CD portion WHEN when moved to CD or USb/TF respectively?
The cause may be because the contact is oxidized so it does not conduct electricity or because the solder joint is open
@@TE. Thank you for your quick response. The switch feels loose too by the way.. Can this be fixed easily? Or do you think a new player should be purchased? It is my 88 yrs old family member who loves her CDs. She keeps it inside so I don't know how it would oxidize.

What about power supply? 220V ? If you buy 110V version, dissasemble and test on 220V, it will smoke.

When I double check the video... The cassette mechanism has no stamp onto it (tanashin) and also the motor is counterfeit... And also the tape head is actually MONO and a blue permanent magnet and worst a DC BIAS RECORDING.... So if you want a better quality BOOMBOX, go for SONY CFD-S70... has a STEREO DIGITAL AM/FM RADIO, CD (MP3 on CD), AUX IN, CASSETTE PLAYER/RECORDER with AC BIAS RECORDING (even a black permanent erase magnet).... But lack of USB PLAYER... but the sound quality is very good.. and also the cassette mechanism is genuine (CSG stamp mark)...
Needs a digital tuner. Knobs break too easily.
