@@musingsoflostsoul I agree wouldn’t compare her with anyone but when I had commented then the ratio of male songs to female songs in Bollywood industry was very disturbed, and it’s mainly due to films that were being made but now with more importance being given to the female lead we do get equivalent female songs like Param Sundari from Mimi, Chaka chak and Tere Rang from Atrangi Re and many more to come, and here I spoke only with respect to Bollywood. There’s no doubt in Shreya being a legend and she isn’t inferior to any damn person in this world, she’s my idol, my biggest inspiration in life
Everyone here talking about shreya ghoshal, I just want to say that she is a legend. I agree that she's relevant and a superstar singer even today but she's been ruling since years. She's form Sonu Nigam's league so she shouldn't be compared to these singers here. They're new in comparison to shreya ghoshal. Arijit too is today's generation so when they said no equivalent of him they meant that amongst them among the new singers there's no equivalent. Yes agreed Arijit is amazing and the best for sure but yet shreya ghoshal is far beyond their level and alot more superior to Arijit as well. If they were talking about sonu, shaan then mentioning shreya would make sense.

@@pankajsharma-jl6lp Tu Aashiqui didn't win anything. Sonu Nigam won that year for Kal Ho Naa Ho's title track. Having said that, Jhankaar Beats has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard, and KK's contributed to that immensely.

Whoever says that they could be easily replaceable my advice to them is they are not working hard enough to create that identity which will never get replaced like ... ASHAJI ... LATAJI .... Don't agree entirely with their opinion about Arijit Singh. If true, you wouldn't have singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan dominating the industry for such long time. Singers with x-factor in their voice do get their due recognition in the longer run. There was once Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu and then there was Sonu Nigam, KK, Mohit Chauhan and now Arijit.
Similarly for females, we had Kavita Krishnamoorthy, Sadhana Sargam and then Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.
Prantik don't forget lata mangeshkar asha bhosle. they are LEGEND.
They had no match. That's why I didn't mention their names. You would see that names of Kishore Kumar and Mohd. Rafi is also not mentioned. The reason being the same.

Prantik I agree to them for the point I wasn't aware how Alka Yagnik looks like until I saw in TV talent show... Though their song were famous but... remain unrelatable to general audience... These singer made themselves recognize through CZcams and if I see Neeti Mohan's poster somewhere I am definitely attending that gig.

Anushka Manchanda from Viva! has gone on to become a playback singer as well. Though not doing as much as she should now, I believe. Quite a good artiste in my opinion.

Previously the singers have designated actors. Every actor had a voice which was owned by a great singer and hence no one looked beyond. Also the voices were unique. Today it's rare to find a unique voice.

More than their singing, which is unquestionably spectacular by every standard, I am now in love with each of their personalities. So much more articulate, evolved and aware than any of the actresses that ride on the magic of their beautiful voices and the songs that imbibe the magic and relatibility of their personalities. Jonita's voice takes me to another world
I think Anupama meant that there's no female equivalent to Arijit who is his contemporary. Shreya and Sunidhi are not new singers, they've been ruling since the 2000s.
Yes, the point that Jonita, Neeti, Aditi and Neha made, that there's not much female solos or female representation, I think it's correct to a great extent.
But at the same time, I don't find all of their voices to be something exceptional. Maybe because their voices are highly processed in the songs, with autotune and stuff, but I personally feel that a number of reality show contestants, at least from those in Bengal, have much more appealing and melodious voices and sing exceptionally well. I have come across such singers in youtube as well, whose videos don't get much views.

Shreya Ghoshal is actually a female version of Sonu Nigam. Comparing Shreya with arijit would be degrading her. Please compare legend with legends. Arijit has a long way to go.

Sunidhi is probably the only recent female singer whose large chunk of songs are Solo and not duets and She did it in a time when Female solos were declining rapidly🙌. Monali Thakur Could have made it really big I feel. She deserved it.
