Wow it’s been a minute huh? Well I’m back and more ready then ever for this videos one shot! It’s a bit different then my other ones but hopefully still good lol!

A Sage Side Story
You know I often think about my choices in life. Usually when I end up in a rather precarious situation. Like the one I’m in right now.
Which includes me barricading myself in a hotel room on 5th floor due to the actual apocalypse happening outside.
With a sigh I get up from the floor and walk into the bathroom. I turn on the faucet and splash my face with cold water to help wake myself up. I then look at the slightly cracked mirror and take a long look at the person staring back.
You know its weird when you stare into a mirror and the face you see isn’t really your own anymore. Well I mean it is but… could I really say the person I was before is the same now?
I take a moment readjusting my sapphire blue hair, giving its familiar spiky tips back.
I then focus my attention to my eyes. One of them being their natural black color, the other being white.
I chuckle a bit as a few old memories come to mind. People used to think that I was blind in that eye, which wasn’t the case. So I crafted the narrative that I had heterochromia and thats why one of my eyes was unnaturally white. A lie yes but it was a more believable truth then ‘yeah so I have this parasite in my brain and that’s why my eye is a different color lol’.
And one would think that having a parasite in their brain would spell bad news. But you wouldn’t believe the blessing in disguise it ended up being.
I bring my arm up to my face and twist my wrist around looking at the familiar splotch of darkness that covered it. Not a second later the veins from my shoulder became visible as it became illuminated with a white color that traveled down to where the splotch was, and in just another few seconds the corruption cracked and flaked away into dust.
Even to this day the parasite continues to surprise me. Hell without it I’d be just another victim of the corruption. Another memory came back to me to roughly a week prior. I had been fleeing from the carnage as best as I could when I ended up encountering one of the infected.
I think I recognized them actually but the goo made it hard to confirm. I fought against them to best of my ability and had actually managed to get the upper hand. The memory quickly became much more bitter as the recollection of the illusion they played on me replayed over and over again.
They made me see HER again. I lost my will to fight as grief overwhelmed me. And It was seemingly over as the infection practically fully covered me. But somehow even when my face was fully covered, I regained consciousness.
It surprised me and my opponent. But I quickly seized that opportunity by using my hand that was more of claw thanks to the virus and used it to slash at them. It left a hefty mark as it drew a lot of blood greatly stunning them. I quickly made my escape after. Fast forward a bit and here I am now, finally fully recovered from the virus thanks to the parasite.
With me deeming my introspection done. I turn off the flowing water and dry my face. And walk into the main living room while looking over at my backpack. I open it up and pull out my journal. I flip through several pages until I reach my most recent one.
Ah I forgot todays the day I head out. While being in this room provided me the temporary safety to recover, my resources were starting to become worrying little. And I knew I couldn’t stay here forever. I then fish around my backpack some more and pull out my cap.
I turn it backwards and fasten it on my head.
I also quickly put my journal away and zip up my backpack again. As I put the backpack on I walk towards the door. It takes minute to move the stuff I had blocking it but eventually it’s all clear and I put my hand on the knob.
I take a deep breath as I slowly turned it and open the door. I stick my head out as I look down each side of the hallway. Thankfully it was empty, so I took that as a sign to walk out and head for the stairway.
The walk was quiet as my steps echoed the vacant stairwell. I eventually make it to the lobby which was also empty and go outside to be greeted by the rather dead city.
I walk down several blocks, taking short cuts through alleyways and such. I end stopping in my tracks when I hear something… or rather someone!
My heart immediately jumped into my throat. There are others here. And from the sound of it they’re singing. I knew what this meant of course as the infected don’t sing with each other. So that must mean someone is facing off against one of them.
My immediate thought is to go help but…
Memories of that illusion flash into my mind again. I don’t think I can handle seeing it again. Even with the parasites help I might just get in the way.
So with a guilty heart I continue on my path away from the sound source. I can’t afford to waste more time recovering.
As I walk further away into the outskirts of the city I silently hope that whoever was there make it out okay.

Man it’s good to be writing for these videos again. Even if it’s only been like a few weeks.
