Trucker protests: Parts of Toronto see large crowds for anti-mandate demonstrations

- Large groups of people descended on parts of Toronto Saturday as people opposed to COVID-19 vaccine and public health mandates gathered in protest outside of Queen's Park and other parts of the downtown core.
Trucks could be seen driving down the Don Valley Parkway with various Canadian flags strapped to their windows and front grills of the vehicles, with police setting up some road blocks.
The streets directly around Queen's Park were blocked off by Toronto police, but it did not keep people from walking to the home of Ontario's legislature or taking over some streets holding various signs opposed to the mandates.

What part about the election didn't you get? If we wanted to drop all restrictions we would have elected a majority Conservative government. Plus the cross border trucker mandate can't end without ending cross border commercial trucking.

It would have been nice to see an aerial view shot of the downtown Toronto core. Tens of thousands of people participated today, and were lined along Bloor St. and south on Avenue Rd. to Queens Park. They were respectful of the access routes to hospitals and of city and private property. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated participated. We all want national unity and our freedoms restored. God keep our land glorious and free!

So instead of listening to expert epidemiologists the government should listen to protesters largely influenced by far right misinformation ? I don't think so. The restrictions will be removed in due time, on advise of scientists, not under gunpoint of misinformed mob.

I was there and i can tell you as a first timer at any protest, i felt nothing but love, good vibes and good energy from the crowd, and everyone around me it was lit! P.S for anyone unsure of anything in life, instead of being ignorant or bias please go in person to these protests too see how great it really is. We are peaceful protestors, not violent protestors✌️
Constant horn blowing is totally disrespectful to resident. Take your “demands” elsewhere. Government is probably going to ease mandates anyway, but vax mandates for truckers will probably stay.

If you represent only 20% of the population and you are not "protesting" but only making demands, then maybe you should adjust your idea of democracy. I voted for a govt to keep me safe from multiple disease threats and from people who think they are entitled to take the law into their own hands. To some of us, you are acting more like domestic terrorists, than patriots.

Poland has a population about the same size as Canada’s though obviously much more compact. Their vax rate is under 55%. Ours is 80-85%, and higher among elderly. Their death rate from CoViD is 106K, Canada’s 34.5K. Hmm. Could the success of mandates in Canada, which btw raised vaxxing from 50-60% to 80-85%, have anything to do with our lower death rate?
