As somebody who was born in Chicago, I can vouche for every line in this song.
FUCK CHICAGO!!
Okay but our pizza is bomb
Ok but it’s not pizza
And WILCO WILL LOVE YOU BABY!! 😅
After growing up in the burbs, it took me a whole year and a half to feel the same. Fuck Chicago.
Jane's World Jane's World Party time excellent whoohohohho
Her Wayne impression is on point!
WOOT
"No stairway, denied"
Hahahahahahah
This is the most Chicago song ever written. We all love to hate our city in a semi-sarcastic way. And you know it’s sarcastic because nobody in their right mind genuinely would rather be in Gary.
MRMOOSE987 LITERALLY NO ONE
The Gary line is the only one where I'm like, "what the fuck?"
Lol so true
I would. I hate chicago.
I'm (usually) in my right mind. And I'd rather be in Gary.
I miss you Laura ❤
As someone who carried a lot of negative feelings about Chicago for decades, I appreciate this song. Believe it or not it made me feel better because I realized I actually don't care that much about that old crap anymore and wouldn't mind visiting again.
That line about being way too close to Missouri at the end... stings in its truthfulness.
I love Chicago and also find no lies in this song.
As someone who grew up in Miller and lived in Chicago, this song hits so close to home.
I loved in both. You aint lying
went to chicago for the first time today. no one let me merge. all the lights were broken. illinois drivers go 90 in a 60. i hate that city i hate it.
It’s 55 and 80 is too slow for some people. They aggressively go around you, cut you off close enough to rub it in your face, or cut you off taking away the stopping distance you try to maintain. All for what? So they can go home 10 minutes faster and watch their silly shows or get a thrill to escape their dead end jobs where they do nothing of importance with the least amount of skill or pride. They hate themselves and want others to be just as miserable.
I needed this song, thank you.
EVERYTHING yes
So fun. So good. Relax, Chicagoans. I think you’ll survive.
Heck ya I love this so much really truly WOWED
Yes!!!
This is too good!
This is awesome!
Excellent!
I love it!
I'm from Chicago and I nut about everything about my city (except for like the segregation, gun violence and the litter) but what they said about driving is true as shit. I've almost been hit like 20 times. I don't even drive. A solid most of these have been near my highschool.
i've visited the great white windy city. it's wicked nice next to where i come from.....Boston. shit even the pot holes in chitown suck less than Boston.
Sweet DVE shirt! Pittsburgh Rocks!
Came here to say this!
Fuck yeah
I grew up in Aurora, Illinois. I hate that town, I hate Chicago, and I hate Illinois. Rock on, buddies.
(Slint is amazing though)
Living in aurora rn
Tell me about it
well shot!
What an awesome breakup song.. Good work LGJ
I love this I'm a new Yorker this made my night
I wish I could like this video a floppity jillion times. I live in Chicago, and it's so terrible for a million reasons. Planning my escape! Thanks for speaking to my soul!
The only reason I can think of why this video isn't blowing up would be because it's so area specific... but JESUS CHRIST what a fucking amazing production! Somebody went to alot of trouble (and expense) to get the Waynes' World sets so exact! Found LJG by way of Squidbillies! Magical! Do not touch the trim! 🤭
what in the world is the connection between Laura Jane Grace and squidbillies??!!?
She sang the opening song once upon a time. @@ericpatton3276
Against me did the intro at some point
Jesus fucking Christ what a great song this is!!!
Hahaha YES so much awesome.
I'm just gonna dedicate this song to my ex that would never shut up about how he was from Chicago
Lol only people who never left IL will say that. It’s the NYC of the Midwest.
what an awesome idea
Praise
This is honestly the best song about Chicago. All the ones that sing it's praise are like "I LOVE CHICAGO... IT IS.... A CITY...... LIGHTS!" but this shit goes into specifics. I can point out legitimate expiriences in my existence within the city with broad shoulders that match up with the lyrics.
Holy shit I’ve never related to a song more in my life 😂
Is Grace wearing a DVE shirt from PITtsburg?
this is a very specific song to relate to as much as i do
As long as you live there, and can give a valid opinion
I watch this video daily because it cheers me the fuck up
Hahahahaha this is PRICELESS!!
Aurora, Illinois is a suburb of hell.
Alkaline Trio’s “Fuck You Aurora” seems like the other side of the argument 😆
and it'll always be way too close to Missouri xD xD
Yea I'm from and live in Missouri. What a perfect note to end this on
I lived in Bridgeport for a brief amount of time and I liked it idk
WDVE PITTSBURGH!!!!
The dab at 2:16 fucking killed me
At least gary doesnt set up speed cameras everywhere so that the citizens foot all the bills for the fucking city!!!!!!
I found this on an MJF playlist.
As an NWI native, who has to drive in Chicago a TON, I approve this message.
Bridgeport is a great neighborhood!
Oh my goddddddd so many people losing their minds over littlest of details. And way too many judgey bastards. This song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of sharing a city after a breakup. The sarcasm and the bitter humor is so on point. All y’all are doing is proving her reasons to hate Chicago right.
This is the single greatest music video I've ever seen.
First Miami now Chicago! 😭
This has some Against Me vibes. I appreciate that.
Umm are you being serious or kidding
So fucking goood!!!!
A WDVE shirt! Pittsburgh native here!
This is fucking awesome!!!!!! So so good!!!
I'm just here to give props for using jagoff in a song
Jack off. Not jag
Lmao I live in Chicago and I fucking hate Chicago too. The foods good though
Laura, one time i shook your hand in orlando, and it was awkward, cause i totally froze. Never meet your heroes kids; cause their hotness will overwhelm you 😢
I enjoyed the video and the song ☺
True music
weren' t Slint from Louisville?
Yeah they were. I initially assumed Slint were from Chicago cause Tweez was recorded by Steve Albini in Evanston, and Spiderland was recorded in Chicago, and Touch and Go Records was Chicago-based. It's unclear in this video if they've made the same assumption I had, or if they're crediting the Chicago scene for recording and promoting Slint.
hahaha 🤘🏻❤️
That girl as Wayne is hot af 🔥🔥🔥🔥
wuzzer name?
What does Slint have to do with Chicago tho?
"Garth" wearing a WDVE t-shirt, Pittsburgh's classic Classic Rock station!?
Great song. Love from Catalonia
I was trying whether or not to stay in Chicago. Getting a $50.00 parking ticket when I had time remaining on my PARK CHICAGO app made my decision easier. This town has issues. I could contest the ticket of course, buy it's not worth my time and I'd rather pay it and let the city lose my business forever. Even trade, no? The parking attendant was still in the area and I brought her mistake (Ms. Dunn) to her attention and asked her to correct it. She refused and even tried to knock me a 64 year old down. I HATE CHICAGO.
Too Funny!!! lol.
Chicago is a huge part of home and I love it but this is the best song and video ever made about Chicago lmao
I love this, thank you!!! Memories and tears and joy and laughter. Great entertainment. Thank you, Laura!
Slint is from Louisville not Chicago.
Decatur, thank you.
I am also bitter about my ex in Chicago, so this was a good laugh. But then you had to go and make fun of my home state. :p #stillagoodlaugh
My life is complete now
This goes just as hard as when she sings about like, wanting to kill herself, wild
Holy shit this is amazing and my favorite and I love it and I have no idea if Chicago deserves it I've never been there but I totally get taking out spite I feel for an ex on a geographic location. See you in hell, Richmond.
Chicago is Awesome to visit. Saw the residents in 2011. Got pizza. Went to phish 2016 at Wrigley. Tripped nuts. Laura hates it cuz she forced to live there to be with her daughter. And its Chi raq. Lol
Please visit Chicago. Please fucking visit Chicago. I live there and all though it is kind of shitty especially for the lower class and lower middle class (I say this as someone who is part of the lower middle class) and know one can drive, it's an amazing city. Amazing people, I've met a few assholes but a majority of them are pretty lit, from the homeless people to the bus drivers. I can give you a list of things to do for you ever plan on visiting.
@@dumpstercub2902 I agree. Her hatred is that she is stuck there because Heather is there with Evelyn and she wants to be around her daughter....jack ass kids acting like they hate Chicago
Yes but also no. We're great but we also suck.
WDVE t shirt...DVE is a Pittsburgh rock station.
I am 30 I hate it here but am fucking stuck.
You got me, it’s just another divorce song. Yeah, divorce fucking sucks. I hate St. Louis right now for the same damn reason, though its also way too close to IL. I’d love to never see my ex again. 27 years, toast. Rips my heart out every time I see the cheating SOB.
Is that troy McClure in the intro?
It's Phil Hartman. So yeah.
I grew up in Indiana, driving to Indianapolis was like going to the little city, but Chicago was the BIG CITY man! I love all the references she dropped...rather rock in Gary, ha! I ALMOST feel ya there!
We live on the other side of the country now, moved away before I could could really identify with the city, but I still get nostalgic about it. So Laura Jane Grace, we'll have to agree to disagree!
Msc foda
Don’t you have to pull a permit to have a garage sale in Chicago?
Or to busk on the street. Or just about anything else... Oh yeah and you have to pay for parking every day until 10 PM (including Sunday) and the money all goes to private companies. Chicago sucks.
no
Dang.......slint is the cats pajamas.
Why would he wear a DVE shirt when he’s talking about Chicago?
....is this the lead singer from against me? Googled it. Yup it is. Great band
Then why she still live here 10 years later.
I thought St Louis was crap, then I went to Shitcago and saw what Hell was really like! I now love St Louis!
Why does Wayne have a WDVE shirt? That’s very in Chicagoan of them.
well ok
this is how i feel abt Arlington
Yep
Texas or Virginia?
@@FunkDrSpok texas
@@am_i_still_ill I''m from and live in Arlington too. I feel ya on that one.
@@FunkDrSpok 😔😔😔😔

Ada yang bisa cerita dalam bahasa Indonesia tentang Laura ini? Kenapa bisa jadi Laura ya? Latar belakangnya bagaimana? Saya suka Againts Me tapi aneh banget berubah jadi Laura.. Dan ini terlarang bukan (dalam agama)?
Brengsek, bangsat.
I hated Chicago until I moved away and i quickly realized how much I took it for granted. Maybe LJG will have a song called “I Miss Chicago” on the next album. Kick ass song either way.
Hmmmmmm. Except the Pumpkins first 3 albums might be the best music ever written. No biggie. But yeah, I like thin pizza too.
The lead singer Billy Corgan has been openly transphobic in recent years, so I don't blame Laura Jane Grace for saying she hates the Pumpkins- feels cathartic 🤷🏻♀️
Bye Felicia!
Gary? Dang girl, you desperate.
