Is it me or does this guy just not cut it live? I saw them around 09-10 and thought the same thing. I wrote them off until recently because of that. I found them to be a pretty generic deathcore band also. In the last few years I'm revisting and liking this era and some of their newer stuff but his vocals just seem to lack a bit and he gets saved by the background guy who usually sounds better IMO. Im not trying to hate but genuinely asking as I dont dislike his voice but feel like it lacks a bit live just like when I saw them back in the day.
Yeah, in live performance, I think they just "cut corners" in order not to put too much strain on his vocal chords. I guess it's just too hard for him to sing several songs with the distortion, or it's just usual case like other bands in which they create another version of their songs and only sing them live. I don't watch a lot of live performances of this kind of bands because they tend to sound different from their studio versions. But when I do, I always check out several videos of certain songs just to find the ones when the singer nailed them close enough.

I love the way Oli sings this song now. A lot less strain on his voice then his old way of doing it.
