I transcend them into materials to fuel my work like an alchemist. For they shall find their place in my work, not by holding them up within me. (Isolation) Life lessons has taught me the hard way, I lost my parents, being backstabbed and betrayed by my relatives and siblings, unresolved childhood trauma, the every fleeting relationships, my physical and mental health deterioration. It sticks in my head, and in my subconscious, I hold that closely in me. Through practices, I gradually reach to the state that I broke the chains of perfectionism that choked me for years, to not let it hold me down, even it can still influence me, but it no longer has control over me. Not today. I’m no longer paralyzed by my overwhelming ego that stemmed from inferiority, fears and shame. Yes, and the possibility of creating potential “trash” too. For the truth is, when trash is placed at a right position, it can turn into gold. I keep my hands moving and have fun - genuine fun as long as I’m creating. As time passed by, this week I’m experiencing peak joy in my creative process. It’s very similar to surfing, I starts to enjoy the ups and downs, because I feel and I see in my heart that they are a union, and these elements that seems so far on each end of spectrum, they are one. That makes surfing, surfing.
Earlier today she saw my creative work and I didn’t expect that, a genuine admiration, she tells me that she wish me good fortune, she has strong belief in me and she feels so blissful to be able to show support. And being supportive to me to continue the work because it shows individuality and she can sees that in me.
I’ve never expected I can healed from those grief, sadness, mistakes, traumas, judgement and emotional violence. I never believed that one day the person I look up so much to, would tell me she admire my work. I used to be skeptical if I can heal again, if I can flourish and thrives. I used to think I don’t belong and an outcast, I used to be so angry and resent for the stress, and the ego and toxicity in me and in my family, and can’t help but keep asking why life put me through this and crying for mercy when I had panic attacks. I never would thought myself that I had individuality in me, for I’ve been criticized since childhood for the trait of people-pleasing.
I longs for miracle and I didn’t expect it to happen through immersion in
creative process. I found the very key to my maze.
Now, (never say never) I am able to experience joy, because I can create (spark rekindling), and I’ll keep create into work that infused with essence of my pain, my subjectivity, bias, projections, deep sorrows, bitterness, trauma, anger and COURAGE that hold them together like the warmest, fluffiest blanket there is. I transcend them into materials to fuel my work like an alchemist. For they shall find their place in my work, not by holding them up within me. I hold power for my own peace, practice honesty, patience within, and I’m ready to uphold that responsibility. And I’m very blessed with great company that I can nurture with. Ones that are supportive and non-judgemental.
I become who I want to be. One that I never thought I would be. I feel loved for who I am. And most importantly, I no longer hold space for the past within me that so dense it suppress the flow to create.
It’s such a wonderful sight to behold that my creative expression heals me in return as I create.
