Can you name all of the songs at the end of the video?! Hope y'all enjoyed this one, good luck to all who bid on the charity auction. ebay.to/3x205aD
Higher Ground by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Schism by Tool, and I Want You Back by the Jackson Five. Couldn't make out the fourth one, sadly. Last one sounded like Dean Town by Vulfpeck.
Ok this has no relevance to your question, but I was wondering if you could try and make a snare drum, I'm a drummer (age 17) and I'm doing construction study's in my school. The final exam is to build something and I was thinking to do a snare drum, but don't really know how to do that, so heres my question again 😅. Could you try build a snare drum.
Thanks
Jason
@@randyallaway4085 I made up the third one so well done there, got them all!
And trust me- I've been a bassist for over 20 years, and channeling one's inner Joe Dart is HARD.
@@randyallaway4085 Nice! Schism is the only one I recognized.
Not a bassist!?! What a build, I've wanted to work with you since I heard you on the podcast talking about being a life long musician and, well.. thank you for joining in! The icing on the cake was your choice of charity and how perfectly the build matches pride. Spot on, I love it! B
I really appreciate that invite and I apologize for the extreme tardiness here! Hopefully, I can make this a yearly thing and will be able to spend more time on the project next year!
"I Want You Back" sounds so weird with a pick and brand new round-wound strings, but now I want to hear someone do a pop punk cover of it.
Check out the cover that Abandoned By Bears does! It’s a banger
@@himynameisalaric absolute banger
As a former Luthier I totally understand the frustration when shopping for parts! I was literally not allowed to sell parts for less than a certain amount or I would be at risk of losing my distribution licensing with the companies I worked with. I could however build a custom instrument and include the parts at or slightly above cost, which is why the "buy a whole instrument for the parts" trick works so well (especially with cheaper import guitars)
It is kind of nuts, plus I get that the volume that Fender buys parts at will never compare to me buying one off parts from StewMac. The donor guitar will continue to make sense as long as that’s true!
I’m pretty sure Fender actually makes all their own parts. I’m also confused about the donor Bass as I thought they sent you a kit to work with.
@@jjfloyd618 Crimson's kits are body and neck only. No electronics nor hardware.
"I'm not a bass player", he says
He's using a pick 😶
@@Matt-mb1xl don't be picky now!
@@Matt-mb1xl there are many amazing bassists that mainly use picks
He's not playing a bass. He's playing a bass range guitar.
"I'm not a good bass player" and then goes on to shred a bit of Dean Town.....
Notice the cuts 😂 I am a guitarist but bass is still very new. Super fun though!
@@craftedworkshop I still want a tutorial video next week…
RHCP - Higher Ground
Tool - Schism
Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
...
Vulfpeck - Dean Town
For "not playing bass", that's a quality set list
Absolutely beautiful top, love the swoop in the skateboard veneers that matches the horn and headstock. Great choice also on the clear pickguard, I'm not usually a fan, but it works really well here!
Wow that's a amazing. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
More TOOL please...pretty cool build. I dont know how you can get anything done with Seth,Bobo,Steady Spin and Alex around \MM/
Such an amazing build!! Beautifully done!
Great bass, looks really special, and its so wholesome that you show how to build it and than you play a little music for us. Thanks
Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾🇲🇾🎸 i love this build bass guitar
"Not a bass player" then promptly rips Higher Ground, Schism and I want you back...
Schism, not 46 & 2
@@xChubaludx thank you! It didn’t feel quite right but was definitely TOOL
@@xChubaludx stfu
Fantastic work, dude! Really beautiful looking guitar! 😃
The skateboard's ply really made it shine!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Sick build and badass that Ben hooked you up with that skateboard blank.
not a guitar player of any sort, but your video was quick, neat , and to the point. i will never build a guitar for myself or anybody else, but yours is the reference i will use should that ever come up.....ie: great video
Killer job on the guitar man!
What a cool project. Gonna bid for it
I love shows like, "This old House" and you have combined my other passion guitars! What a joy to watch! Thanks.
My pleasure!
This looks amazing! Nice job, great video.
Looks awesome & I love your explanation of the process. From a cosmetic standpoint I’d have liked to see you find a creative way to hide the wiring whilst utilizing the clear pick guard. Or do a rear rout so as not to compromise any of the cap face. Also would have been really cool to see body contours.
Actually, upon further reflection it occurs to me that you basically built a Squier Affinity with a fancy top. So I think I’d like to have seen you plane a half inch of the top of the Squier & glue the half inch skateboard cap on top. Then carve in a forearm contour & do a rear control rout.
The second song is Schism by Tool.
Indeed friend
Spiral out brother.
Wow so colorful!
Amazing good video tutorial brother 💯👌
Sounds great!, killer video as always!
You should change out the fret markers to colours to match the body and coloured strings
Looks amazing!
If you use a little table salt in the glue up, the pieces wont slide around as much. And the salt has no effect on the strength of the glue up.
Good tip! Funny thing is I know about that tip but have never actually tried it.
If you had thought ahead you could router the cable holes into the top before the skateboard top layer and prevented scuffing the face
That would have been nice!
Hi there! What are those Black disks supporting the Bass body while you're working on it, great build, Thanks!
Excellent work man, really enjoyed your work 🤘👍
I was about to say. I know that house isnt done yet lol. Are supply chain issues causing problems for you?
Yup, been over three weeks since I ordered the plywood.
That looks amazing 😍
Great sound, well done
Thanks!
Wow that is Awesome!
this is my favorite build of the "invitational" category, in terms of the aesthetics
Man, thanks! There were some awesome builds, wish I had gotten it done earlier.
I saw you concrete guitar build and you said that you would be doing an epoxy resin one. Are you still planning on doing that one?
Now that's sick. Wow.
Thanks man!
Excellent Joe Dart neck raise. Should have swapped into shades :)
I love the end with the tool song
Thanks!
Try salt in the glue to prevent slippage when clamping
Meyn you have a classy woodworking machines😍
Looks nice .
Would you consider a much longer very thorough guitar tutorial?
Should I use MDF for cabinets?
Nice bass
Thanks!
You were going to do a epoxy resin one. When will you do that?
When is the epoxy guitar coming out that you mentioned in the concrete vid????
Happy Pride!! And considering the amount of hate we're currently getting as a community, it was really nice to hear that at the end and the little tag over the guitar earlier. I just really appreciated it.
thats really cool tho
Higher ground 🤘🏽
ebay link doesn't appear to be working fyi
I had a look to place a bid…..it’s already over 700 US dollars…..very nice project but way over my budget, good luck to all !!!
I had bid $500, hoping to win it so I could keep it 😂 glad people are bidding and all the money is going to charity!

Higher ground by RDCP!!!!

@@dewalele7186 No I mean't RDCP. Haven't you heard of Red Dot Chili peppers?
Love your videos and content, but especially loved your shout out to Pride Month! Thank you!
So, the ebay auction page is in GBP and the shipping says "
May not ship to United States ". lol
In the description, they clarified it’ll ship anywhere. Just trust me, I’ll make it happen regardless!
You did a great job! Sounds like a P-Bass... so, nice work. She looks amazing.
Thank you for your choice of charity, Johnny. I’ve been watching your videos alongside many other woodworking channels for a while, as well as working in a hardware shop myself, and can’t help but feel it’s an industry dominated by cis and hetero people. Maybe more could be done to be more inclusive of all genders and orientations and it’s great to see one of the bigger names in the community showing their support. Great build!
Did I mention rockler?
Dude could you make a real trashy homemade cymbal?
Happy pride! I love the bass, it’s such a clever way of using old boards.
What's up..................Slappers!
RHCP good choice. Flea is one of the best out there.
funny to me, that most people buy a cheap instrument for the body and neck....to replace all of the cheap electronics and hardware with quality components.
Hah for sure. I’m surprised at how decent the stock electronics sound actually, as a guitar player.
give me that
GIVE IT
I love that you list your tools. I'm sure that's a lot of work. But thank you
You are not a bass player ? .. you slapped that base pretty damn good haha , Idea .. send it to Davie504 and lets see what sound he can pull out of it ? .. just an idea ofc
I'm not gonna lie. Kindda disappointed that it's only a skateboard "cap". Feels like cheating heheh
Really nice job! Have to say though, kinda sounds like a Rockler and Powermatic commercial with a guitar build thrown in.🥴
Well, they did sponsor the video so it kind of is in a way! Thanks!
@@craftedworkshop Yeah, I kinda figured that. And nothing wrong with that. Gotta keep them happy 😁. Again, great job 👍
Higher ground
The fretboard needs to be oiled.
I want you back Jackson 5
Yup!
I’m just surprised you’re still alive after paying those killer lumber prices 💰 💵 💵 💵 💰
Hah, thankfully hardwoods don't seem to have gone up as much as construction lumber!
Ah I didn’t notice, I thought all woods went up. I don’t purchase hardwood’s much. I love the vids tho I’m going to subscribe :)
not a bassist? man you are better than me who's a bassist :/
That’s so punk
Why are you playing a bass like an electric
I know this is almost 2 years old now but how much was raised from your auction?
Crimson’s video of the voting showed it at £720 about a day before it ended.
Huge fan of your work! Thank you for supporting Pride and LGBT+ community! 🏳️🌈
It's just a top not guitar. Burls did it better
