Thanks for reviewing my song! The song is about getting your heart broken and then continuing “On and On” with your life....someone better will eventually come along. -Stephen
@stephenbishopofficial Stephen, I was 16 when On and On came out. Spent a lot of quality time laying on the floor in front of the stereo console with this 45 playing on repeat. Save It for A Rainy Day was another favorite. Thank you for the memories! And thank you for taking a minute of your time to acknowledge these two beautiful people reacting to your work.
Uh, @RobSquadReactions - you got company. :) @stephenbishopofficial, thank you for your beautiful music over the years.
Great performance of a great song, Stephen. And thank you for taking time to comment. Jay & Amber have been on a 2 yr. journey to experience 60s, 70s, and 80s music. You'd be impressed to see how much they've learned about music over the last two years. Glad you stopped by.
Wow nice to see you’re watching this. My goodness I wore out multiple copies of Careless along with Breakaway by Garfunkel which had my 2 fav songs written by you!
I love it when the artist themselves responds to these reactions. Thank you
This just hit very differently at 58 than it did at 12.
Amen brother....
This is one of the songs that epitomizes that easy 70s soft rock ballad sound. And for some reason always takes me back to driving mom's Nova to my after-school job senior year. Funny how music can be so deeply connected to specific memories.
that's cool i had a nova
One of my sisters' first car was a Nova.
In this terrible world today....
I crashed my cousin's nova around then!
I agree! Memories of that summer before high-school, listening to the radio in my bedroom with the window open for a cool breeze.
"So he takes a ladder, steals some stars from the sky, puts on Sinatra and starts to cry!"
That is THE best line in any song in the world. Out of the thousands and thousands songs ive heard, nothing comes close to me❤
Bish is so smooth. It Might Be You is another sweet ballad. Save It For A Rainy Day was his best known uptempo hit. He also wrote Separate Lives (Phil Collins) among others.
Chaka Khan does the background vocals on Save it for a Rainy Day. Fun fact, Eric Clapton does the brief guitar solo in that same song.
@@scot60Wow!
Seperate Lives is such a beautiful and heartbreaking song! It's definitely a song to listen to (I'm actually going to listen to it now that it's on my mind.... lok)!
Very nice reaction to a beautiful song. I don’t think he’s singing about a problem that keeps happening on and on but rather is saying that even when you have a problem with your heart is broken, you just keep going on and on. That’s the thrust of all the lyrics of the song. That no matter what happens, you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you go “on and on”.
And Stephen Bishop is one of those famous “singer/songwriters“ of the 70s. This was his biggest hit. He’s also the (I think) the guy who is singing on the stairs in ANIMAL HOUSE and Belushi (as Bluto) grabs his guitar and smashes it to pieces.
(Edit note: thanks to Sally Phillips for pointing out my error above, where I meant to say “dust yourself off”. Error made by dictation, and not proofreading. Fixed).
I think you meant to say you dust yourself off?
was going to make reference to "Animal House" as possible movie reaction and connection to Stephen Bishop but you beat me to it... well said...
He also sings the Theme song to Animal House, "Animal House". Catchy Song.
I had also heard that wasn’t in the script and that’s why he had such a surprised look on his face when Belushi did that. Did anybody else hear that or am I wrong?
@@sallyphillips9175 yeah! 🙄 Thanks for spotting that. I was dictating that and didn’t proofread. I’ll fix it.
I haven't heard Stephen Bishop is decades. Boy that brought back some memories. Next song should be Save it for a Rainy Day.
Bishop still writes! Still releases music. His latest albums We'll Talk About It Later In The Car and Blueprint are both great. Dropped a Christmas release in 2019.
This is a very mellow and laid back song. Easy listening at it's best
You would really enjoy "Just When I Needed You Most" by Randy VanWarmer.
I would definitely recommend listening to "It Might Be You", which is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and one of his best. The song is from the film "Tootsie" starring Dustin Hoffman which is a must see for your movie channel. Great reaction to a great artist!! For the Little River Band, two great songs from them are " Take It Easy On Me" from late 1981 and "Man On Your Mind" from mid 1982. Both are great songs I know you would enjoy Amber.
The song is so beautiful, the movie is great
They should watch the movie and listen to the song. So good.
If you guys have seen the movie Animal House, he’s in a very funny scene with John Belushi.
Tootsie is an amazing movie. "I'm Edward Kimberly."
Little River Band were amazing! More of a fan of Glenn Shorrock than John Farnham, both both phenomenal performers
Laid back mellow pure Seventies A.M. classic.
If you've seen Animal House, he's the guy singing the love song that John Belushi busts the guitar up.
Wow! All the times I saw that movie I never realized that.
He's in a few John Landis films. He's credited as "Charming Guy" in Kentucky Fried Movie. "Charming Guy with guitar" in Animal House. "Charming Trooper" in Blues Brothers. And "Charming G.I." in Twilight Zone: The Movie.
Around the same time as Stephen Bishop there was Elvin Bishop who sang "Fooled around and Fell in Love".
Elvin was the guitarist... the actual singer on "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" was Mickey Thomas from (Jefferson) Starship.
Stephen Bishop is also known for the very beautiful song "It Might Be You,' which is also featured in the 80s movie 'Tootsie.' As for Little River Band, I recommend 'Take It Easy On Me' or 'Happy Anniversary.'
@@lreed1040 yes, I forgot about that one. And it's got more pep to it too! 🙂
Love that song. I took a masterclass at university with TV and Film great Dave Grusin, the composer of the score and I believe a co-writer and arranger of "It Might Be You".
Oh this one’s a classic from 1977. Simply a beautiful song. Stephen Bishop also sang the theme from the movie “Tootsie” called “It Might Be You”, which is another beautiful song of his you should check out. “On And On” somehow always made me feel sad and happy at the same time. Great reaction as always! Fun fact: Stephen Bishop never hit number one as an artist, but he did manage to do so as a songwriter. He wrote “Seperate Lives”, which was a number one hit duet by Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin, which I believe you guys already reacted to. ❤
Funny you'd mention how this song is one of those "happy & sad" songs. I haven't heard this song for decades, but apparently, it's still able to make me smile and cry at the same time. "On and on....." so true.
Another vote for "It Might Be You". I love that song too.
Stephen Bishop also wrote and sang the theme song for Animal House :D
@@johnmyers5315 indeed he did! Thanks for the reminder. 😊
He also performed 'Somewhere In Between', the only music in the entire movie 'The China Syndrome' (1979)
Save it for a rainy day is another great cut by Stephen Bishop.
Little River Band- Help Is On Its Way, Lady, Happy Anniversary
Lady! Yes, love that song! My favorite is Cool Change.
Takes a ladder, steals the stars from the sky... Put's on Sinatra and stars to cry. What a beautiful lyric!
"Cool Change", "We Two," "Man On Your Mind," "You're Driving Me Out Of My Mind" are my Little River Band picks.
That's why 70's music is truly the best around. 💯👏😎
Old school classic
"It Might Be You" is another hit from Stephen
Little River Band suggestions: "Help Is On Its Way", "Man on Your Mind", "Take It Easy on Me", "The Other Guy", and "Happy Anniversary", just to name a few you haven't reacted to yet. P.S. Stephen Bishop is a good pick!
I use to cry uncontrollably whenever I heard this song on the radio back in the 70's. I had no idea why as I was just 4 years old. I had no concept of the lyrics and what it meant, but for some god damn reason it just tore me up.
Beautiful song from 1977. Three years after I was born. Love the 70s sad and soothing music.
One of the best years for music. I was 14 and having the most fun ever. This always reminds of that summer.
Took me right back to 8th grade school dances 😊
I was 5 in '77
I was five as well but I do remember hearing this song
@@laurakali6522 i was also 14 nothing but goodtimes and wonderful memories i guess you could say we were lucky to grow up during that decade
It might be you! Song from the movie Tootsie. You will love!!!! Stephen Bishop, such a beautiful voice! Great memories for me!!
John Belushi smashed his guitar in Animal House.
I love his credits in John Landis films. "Charming Guy" in Kentucky Fried Movie. "Charming Guy with guitar" in Animal House. "Charming Trooper" in Blues Brothers. And "Charming G.I." in Twilight Zone: The Movie (which has that Vietnam scene that references Animal House's ending, when one of the soldiers says they shouldn't have shot Lt Neidermeyer!)
He satd had was sorry....needermeur...
Stephen Bishop is a great songwriter. He had some big hits, but he doesn't write top 40-type music. You guys would love "Save it For a Rainy Day" with Chaka Khan singing background. He wrote some movie songs as well.
LRB...Take It Easy On Me, a great live version out there its the best and my favorite LRB tune. Thanks guys loved the reaction to Stephen...
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 thank y’all for finally doing this song I’ve loved since I was a kid.
Stephen Bishop - It Might Be You
And he smiles when he feels like cryin'.
Finally! SUCH A GREAT SONG!
I agree. Still waiting for Randy Varnwarmer's "Just When I Needed You Most" and Bertie Higgins "Key Largo" and "Just Another Day In Paradise".
@@seanswinton6242All great songs, Key Largo is a real gem.
One of my top ten chill out songs
This Stephen Bishop album (“Careless”) is a MASTERPIECE. EVERY SONG. When I first bought it, it didn’t leave my turntable for weeks. Go listen now.
Love Madge one of my all time favorite songs and the rest of the album breathtaking.
Stephen bishop “it might be you”. another great song to check out.
It Might Be You is one of the great love songs of all time...must listen for sure
I hope you consider listening to Stephen Bishops’s “It Might Be You” from the movie Tootsie. Its another one of his, BIshop’s, big hits and probably shows more of his vocal range.
Little River Band "Take It Easy On Me" would make a great reaction. You're both sure to love it.
He composed the theme song for a movie called Tootsie, starring Dustin Hoffman. You might like both the theme and the movie.
Yes, do Little River Band!! Cool Change, Reminiscing, Lady, Happy Anniversary, Take it Easy, and so many more ❤😊
Also wrote "Separate Lives" for Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin. Great song.
My son and his friend just covered this and it’s going to be released soon as his first single from his new album! This is one that my son said reminds him of me because I used to listen to it all the time!😂😊❤️
Jay and Amber I have a list of other artists from the 70s that you have not reacted to before. Give these a try please Staple Singers-I'll Take You There, Dave Mason- We Just Degree, Johnny Nash- I Can See Clearly Now, Hot Chocolate- I Believe in Miracles(You Sexy Thing), Nick Gilder- Hot Child in the City, Alan O'Day- Undercover Angel, Heatwave- Boogie Nights, Marmalade-Reflections of My Life, LaBelle-Lady Marmalade, Three Degrees-When Will I See You Again, Freda Payne-Band of Gold. And here are a few that you've only reacted to once or twice, but either didn't pick their biggest hit or missed another hit that deserves a listen to. Rose Royce-Car Wash, Pablo Cruise-Watcha Gonna Do or Love Will Find a Way, Seals & Crofts-Get Closer, Bill Withers-Lean On Me,.
Always loved this one. When it came out, I also noticed that line, "so he takes a ladder, steals the stars from the sky, puts on Sinatra and starts to cry," but I'd gotten a different meaning out of it. For decades, I thought it meant that stealing the stars was him dressing up in his best to make himself feel better and confident in himself again. He puts on Sinatra's persona, his swagger and his coolness to push past it. But it doesn't work, and he starts to cry.
The phrase "puts on" most likely refers to putting a Sinatra record on the player to listen to it.
@@libertyresearch-iu4fy Yeah, I know.
It’s art, man! Different vibes on different levels @ different moments in time….. fluctuating & regenerating …. enjoy the moment,,,, & later ,,,,, enjoy the moment. And again……… (a shiver, & a sigh).
Happy Anniversary LRB song. One of their best.
This tune always gets the dopamine flowing in me. I get goosebumps from it.
I was lucky to see this guy and his band at a free concert at a shopping mall outside got a free autograph picture then this album became a huge hit and this song too and some other songs then the theme song in the movie Tootsie how many of you noticed him in Animal House hes the guy singing on the stairs when John Belushi breaks his guitar he's seem to faded away haven't heard anything in years ive always been thankful to have seen him in person when he was just hitting stardome .Thanks Stephen
Another childhood, Buick 225 memory!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
"and he smiles when he feels like crying" hits me everytime
..."Class of 76"...I always took this song as a man searching for "HIS" right one and one after the other he just keeps searching.....
Very Tropical.. I could just see myself on the beach with my toes in the sand and gentle breezes blowing
This is a joyous song of perseverance and not giving in to depression. This song takes me back to when I was a kid, great song!❤
Once more, this is what was on the radio when I was a kid in the 1970's. This was a big hit. Thanks guys. gives me that old, nostalgic feeling when I hear them 70's hits. Peace and love people. Bless your hearts. Needed that.
@RobSquadReaction. Aw....sorry. Wish we could be fb friends, guys. I only do fb and CZcams. Thanks though. I'm disabled, in very ill health and mostly alone, now. It is nice to check in with the Rob Squad Fam. It always picks me up when I am down. Loving you in East Tennessee. Peace.
If you love discovering artists you never heard, try Neil Sedaka -- American Bandstand host Dirk Clark referred to Neil Sedaka as a "Hits Machine", because was belting out hit songs one after another (60's and 70's), in addition to writing them for other artists. . Suggested songs:
- Calendar Girl
- Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
- Laughter In The Rain
- Bad Blood (ft. Elton John)
- Solitaire
- The Hungry Years
Great suggestion and can you believe that Neil is not in the RNR HOF?!
Yes! Neil Sedaka!!!
I love Bad Blood!!
@@janhofschulte6229 - Someone should remake Bad Blood now as the theme for the CV-19 vaccinated. (just joking)
Great song. Story driven song writing back in the late 70 - early 80's was just so good. Nothing like it today i think.
I love this song...so summer dreamy.
A little river band song that’s a little deeper cut but is super funky, upbeat, and phenomenal horns. “You’re Driving Me Out Of My Mind”
Forgot about this song. Loved it back in my ancient past.
U both are awesome and such a pleasure to watch and be part of the RS..👊
The lyrics in this are top drawer.
Love this! Listen to It Might Be You next. So beautiful.
Great memories attached to this song! Thanks for reacting to it. Another good Stephen Bishop tune is "Save It For a Rainy Day," with cameos from Eric Clapton and Chaka Khan!
This song started playing in my head right away when I read the title! I love this song!! 💋💖💋💖🍹😁
For Little River Band: "Help Is on Its Way" "Happy Anniversary" "Curiosity (Killed the Cat)" "It's a Long Way There"
Stephen is one of my favorites! He never disappoints! Thanks for doing this one. Try "It Might be You". You'll love it.
Since J loves his bass, I have to suggest "Happy Anniversary" by Little River Band. It has great harmonies and the funkiest bass part you can find.
Stephen Bishop has a very brief (but absolutely hilarious) part in the comedy film, "Animal House." That film (which he wrote the theme song for) definitely needs to be on your list of soon-to-come film reactions, though fair warning: you might find parts of it are a bit raunchy.😂
Stephen Bishops banger is Save it for a Rainy Day. You should give that one a listen...
Save it for a rainy day with Stephen Bishop
"Sweetheart " by Frankie and the Knockouts!!
Been waiting for this reaction 🔥
Now you need to hear Save it for a Rainy Day. A must hear!!!!
Bish is so talented! Wrote several movie themes; Tootsie, Arthur, China Syndrome, Animal House.
Other songs to consider- It Might Be You ( great Tootsie theme),
Save It For a Rainy Day,
Separate Lives (acoustic version),
Red Cab To Manhattan,
City Girl.
Thanks again, I really enjoy watching the two of you and your great reactions!
Believe he had a cameo in the great movie animal house. Bellucci broke his guitar on the stairway during a party. 😅
@@RobertSmith-iw2kb Yes, he also played one of the guards.
Thanks!
Seen a couple folks mention it, but "It Might Be You" is your next assignment for sure. Great tune.
You’ll have to check out his theme for Tootsie…”It Might Be You”. Pure ear candy. And if you are down for more LRB, check out Happy Anniversary. And if you want a similar vibe, check out Air Supply’s Making Love Out of Nothing at All.
YOU MUST WATCH THE MOVIE TOOTSIE WITH DUSTIN HOFFMAN. STEPHEN WROTE THE MAIN SONG. 🙂🙃🙂
My favourite Stephen Bishop song will always be his film 'tootsie' soundtrack 'it might be you'. A great classic 80s film to watch by the way. I didn't realise or appreciate what a prolific songwriter he was for the likes of Phil collins, Barbara Streisand, etc
Little River Band ❤❤❤❤
Happy Anniversary
Man on Your Mind
It's a Long Way There
Oh my. One of my Dad’s favorite songs, posted on Father’s Day. I haven’t heard this in many, many years. ❤
Amber, First things first. You want more Little River Band? You should start with their seminal 1976 hit, It's A Long Way There and follow it up with their 1978 hit Happy Anniversary. Then make your way to my favorite LRB tune of all time, Take It Easy On Me. You'll appreciate the breadth and width of their musicality.
As for Stephen Bishop, he had some great hits in the late 70s like Save It For A Rainy Day, as well as It Might Be You in 1983.
Little river band…Take it easy on me
Stephen Bishop a great Singer/Songwriter from the 70’s still doing it. Has written some great tracks, very easy listening!
“Save It For a Rainy Day” is his best song (with a little help from Chaka Kahn).
Oh my god now you’re talking absolutely great song very happy you finally got to it. Thanks guys and if I may please react to more of Michael Bolton and Richard Marx.
I just listened to that same song on my playlist yesterday.
70s soft rock had its moments! this was one of them!
Another example of the confessional or story telling singer which emerged in the 1970s (Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Andrew Gold, Stevie Forbert, Rupert Holmes etc etc). This is a great song and well delivered by Stephen Bishop.
I haven't heard this one in years. So Nice
New artist alert: Sanford Townson Band "Smoke from a Distant Fire"
Great song and definitely his best. Other songs he has worth checking out are It Might Be You, Save It For a Rainy Day, and Everybody Needs Love. As far as other great Little River Band songs, Take It Easy On Me, Help Is On the Way, It's a Long Way There, The Other Guy, Man On Your Mind, and Happy Anniversary are all worth a listen!
My favorite is Cool Change.
"It's a Long Way There" is a solid banger! Hopefully they'll play the entire 8 and 1/2 minute album version too.
Hey, Amber, Little River Band is one of my all-time favorite bands. You've done the obvious standards by them, but check out "The Other Guy." It's another song that has a happy, catchy beat while dealing with sad lyrics.
This was a decent sized hit in the Summer of 77. Even my Dad loved it.
It Might Be You by Stephen bishop is beautiful. I think you’ll love it. Also Save It for a Rainy Day. As for LRB I’m not sure what youve already reacted to. Reminiscing is my fav song. Lady is lovely. Help Is On the Way. Cool Change. Take It Easy on Me. Happy Anniversary. Night Owl. Lonesome Loser. We Two. So many great songs.
Save it for a rainy day is really good as well
I was in elementary school when I first heard this song and I'm 56 now. so that kind of gives you the time period. a long time ago!
Nothing like 70s AM GOLD radio. The best for story love songs or heartache.
Beautiful "yacht rock" number. I remember this so well from high school -- my friends and I loved this and sang it together. We especially liked the line "puts on Sinatra" and the image of looking for a ladder so you can steal the stars from the sky -- because you're sad.
This entire genre, singers/songwriters of the 70s…awesome stuff!
Amber, regarding Little River Band may I suggest: Lady, Reminiscing, Cool Change, Night Owl, Lonesome Loser and Help Is On the Way for diving deeper into their catalogue. Any of these will get you there. :)
It Might Be You is another Stephen Bishop and definitely one of his best.
One of the Greats... BEAUTIFUL song. I can sing all the words since I was 10.
Toss up my heart and see where it lands.....❤
