- This video is a comprehensive review of the Generation 1 (G1) Transformers Action Figure Prowl. PLEASE READ: Feel free to leave comments, however, please refrain from discussing the differences between Vintage G1 Toys, Hasbro Reissues, Takara Reissues, Toys 'R' Us Reissues, or Knock-Offs. My video reviews are meant for the viewer to enjoy the Generation 1 Transformers Cartoon through ANY toy or action figure that validly represents characters from the cartoon, no matter who created them.
I loved this guy in the cartoon. I watched the 1986 Movie years ago and even though I didn't grow up with G1, it honestly made me very sad when he died.
He was my favorite Autobot as a kid.

The toy is over 30 years old...and it looks darn near brand new!
it's because this is not 30 years old. This is an unlicensed reproduction. I don't want to call it knockoff. Knockoffs are cheap copys, but these are have a very good quality. They even copied the Look of the box from the original
Hatori Hanzo you can find brand new G1 figures still never touched or unboxed so it could be new or like the one dude said a reissued figure. But Im a year late to comment back so you maybe won't care.
It's probably a Zhong Jin counterfeit.
You can tell if it’s an original US release Transformer if the missiles don’t fire. We never had any missiles fire in the ’80s because they defeated the spring mechanisms for safety. All original US releases we had you had to press down the triggers to insert or remove the missiles.
Has a pre Kindergarten child, my baby sitter let me play with her sons Prowl while he was at school.. She asked me to be carefull with it.. I swore I would... I meant it too. Needless to say... I accidentally stepped on it! I just walked into the room, heard and felt that thing crunch under my foot. It was in robot mode.. And destroyed. I felt so bad. Im 36 yeats old now, and still feel the regret of that day. Thanks for the great review and the memories.

Lol the Prowl that I own is missing his 4 tiers, his weapons and his roof and windshield are completely broken off.

This guy was my fav G1 car. I did wind up breaking this guy, Bluestreak and Jazz all in the same spot, where the windshield connects to the back of the head. A very weak point, that should have been designed differently in my opinion. I still loved all three though.

Did you know:
Prowl was supposed to be the leader of the Autobots,because the Autobots symbol is based on this toy's head. It was later changed to Optimus Prime to be the real leader.

Soundwave was supposed to be the leader of the Decepticons,because the Decepticons symbol is based on Soundwaves head. It was later changed to Megatron to be the real leader.
thats a fake fact, except for that the Decepticons symbol is based on Soundwaves head. so why wasnt soundwave the atleast SUPPOSED to be the leader?

My biggest complaint for transformers from the 80s is completely inaccurate(ex. Ratchet, Ironhide, and Megatron), and bad articulation (ex. Everyone's legs)
Ryan Spees The toys came before the cartoon so the cartoon is to blame for the inaccuracy, and at the time the technology used to make toys was very limited so articulation was only there when needed for transformation.

Brilliant review. Wish I'd bought Prowl. He was always the Autobot I could relate to the most and I wish he'd had more screentime in the cartoon.

One of the few problems with the original cartoon in my opinion---there was no doubt as to who was second-in-command of the Deceps, but they didn't specify it for Prowl, whom they obviously had the background info for. Why they chose to ignore Prowl's rank is a disrespectful mystery to me!
Captain Fantastic prowl is high ranking but jazz for some reason has always been second in command even though from a military standpoint prowl would be much better
Captain Fantastic for a 4 year late response that you wont read nor care about Jazz is the second in command of the Autobots and Soundwave is the second command for the Decepticons. Im not sure about Soundwave but Jazz Im 100 percent sure Im right.
In the G1 Series, Jazz is second in command. In the comic books, Prowl is second in command.
@@blackbeetle6992 @Black Beetle Well, here's ANOTHER four-year late response! 🤣 If you had the original G1 toys with the original Tech Specs, they list Prime's rank as a 10, Prowl's as a 9, and everyone else 8 and under. Thus, there was absolutely no doubt as to who was second-in-command of the Bots. More, it was officially shown in the Marvel Comics, both US and UK that Prowl was first lieutenant, taking over whenever Prime was indisposed. THAT'S why it was such a mystery to the fans when Prowl's rank in the cartoon wasn't equal to Starscream's respectively.
And I'm sorry, but though Soundwave was extremely loyal to Megatron, in NO WAY was he second-in-command, as Starscream claimed that title in EVERY ITERATION OF TF!
@@swoopdown27 But in the episode "A Prime Problem," where Meggy created a fake Optimus, Ironhide took charge until they discerned who was the real Prime. That further fueled the "Who was second-in-command of the Bots in the cartoon" debate. They simply should have made Prowl the definite first lieutenant like his Tech Specs SAID he was.

I never got G1 Prowl as a kid. I'm glad I didn't. Otherwise, as a kid, I would have broken it the very next day! I did eventually get G1 Prowl 10 years ago on-line at a somewhat fairly heavy price. Then T-R-U had them in stock albeit the different boxing, which was similar to the one I got on-line, except it was w/ Japanese writing, and a lesser price tag. But I got it. I was shocked to see his character killed in THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, and by then I regretted not having this one as a kid.
Seriously, this constitutes a very difficult transformation? No offense but every 1984 transformer except Megatron could be done blindfolded. Other than that I like your review format. Good job. Maybe practice a bit before you go on camera and be more specific about what parts you are moving and where they go. Also, I almost fainted when I saw you struggle to get the roof into place without putting the tab under the rear window panels. In truth this is the only frequently broken bit on the toy.

I had one, I was 8, I had no trouble transforming it. 🤪
I wished they would reissue wheeljack, mirage, and sunstreaker. Those are the 3 they've never reissued. The head of toy design at hasbro said they still have the moulds, but their technology they have now isn't compatible with those 3 moulds. Hope they address this issue because I'd love to see those 3 on a toy shelf!

I have a KO version of Prowl, and I swear, the detail is exact to the G1 version, right down to the packaging and copyright date on the back of the box. You'd only know it's a KO because the box is relatively new and not worn like a G1 box would be.
He's not hard to transform, you just don't know what you're doing.
I have the 2019 war for cybertron prowl action figure it's a little different no metal more moving parts no bulk tires it has blue plastic tires and police is written in transformer in stead I got it at a Toronto ont Walmart

I found it funny he didn't get much screen time during the cartoon concidering he's 2nd in command and he's optimus oldest friend- Ironhide fits the bill better in my opinion.

Why does the box say "race car to robot. Prowl isnt a race car, hes a police car. Or is that a sports police car I don't know.

Prowl is my favoret transformer and for my birth day I’m going to try to get him I made a lego one but it need a review first
