    Some things I noticed:
    1) enh didn't seem to have blessing of might and battleshout, that's a lot of ap missing
    2) The blacksmithing hammers were unique to my knowledge (or restricted to mainhand, or both)
    3) the enh tier sets badly itemised for enhancement shamans, since we do not have mana issues in tbc due to Shamanistic Rage, therefor all mp4/int and even spirit is wasted item budged (exceptions being the t6 bracers/belt/boots from swp)
High prio goes to expertise + yellow hit cap > strenght > ap > hit > crit, and agility, dunno where armor pen sat, but I imagine rather highly, since spell and melee hit/crit/haste weren't merged yet, so spelldmg wasn't that high on dmg percentage.
As a rule of thumb, enhancement wears leather as BiS, with some exceptions (mail pieces that forgo int or stam).
I dont know what amulet/rings/trinkets/bracers/cape/relic you used, so I recreated a tbc BT enh BiS setup as best as I could from memory (impossible to find a good tbc database).
    -Cursed Vision of Sargeras (head)
    -Choker of Endless Nightmares (amulet)
-Mantle of Darkness/Shoulderpads of the stranger(if weapon skill => expertise) (shoulder)
    -Shadowmoon Destroyer's Cape (back)
    -Midnight Chestguard (chest)
    -Bindings of Lightning Reflexes (wrist)
-Fists of Mukoa/Gauntlets of Rapidity (hands)
    -Belt of One-Hundred Deaths (waist)
    -Bow-Stitched Leggings (legs)
    -Shadowmaster's Boots (feet)
    - Stormrage Signet Ring (finger 1)
    -Angelista's Revenge (figner 2)
-Madness of the Betrayer (trinket 1)
    -Dragonspine Trophy (trinket 2)
    -Rising Tide (main hand)
    -Syphon of the Nathrezim (offhand)
    -Stonebreaker's Totem (relic)
Would it be possible to retry this experiment with this gear and the aforementioned missing raid buffs? I really want to know where enh stands as I mained it in tbc and would like to know if there's any hope.

hey Hamster, Love these videos, but something I wanted to point out that has caused a misunderstanding in all your TBC videos is that while ranged casters/hunters do more raw dps, these are when standing still. In TBC there are less fights than in Vanilla where you can just stand and chain cast, this means that the gap between a good melee and a good caster will be smaller because the melee can do almost 100% of their dps while handling mechanics, while casters will lose dps uptime by having to move around.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Depends on what you can get. Ebon Netherscale set is considered to be preraid bis according to multiple guides, and that's mail gear. Storm Helm BoE from blacksmithing, also mail. Enhancement shamans are equal to ele shamans in bt t6 and even stronger in swp t6. Enha dont play with the 4t6 bonus pre swp. Its pretty obvious that hammy doesnt have a lot of in depth knowledge here. Not even 1,4k in t6 gear is more than just weird.
Also the enha has no might buff (220 ap) and there is no sv ap debuff (easy 250+ ap in t6) or a slam warrior debuff (+4% physical dmg) on the target. In practice you are either in the hunter grp which gives you 6-9% additional dmg, dependig if there are 2 or 3 bms in grp; or you are in the melee grp, where you will get an ap buff from a warrior (up to 470 ap) and 3%crit + 2% dmg from a ret pala. All those things are missing. Those are huge factors, that you dont show at all.
Its a nice little rundown but far from realistic. Thats for sure. If you add just the biggest of those buffs/debuffs, the dps numbers are ~equal between those 2 speccs.
But he kinda explains it in the end tbh.

    • @HamsterWheelGaming
      @HamsterWheelGaming  Před 4 lety +5

Well I don't know what you wanted me to do in regards to dps. There are obviously one or two buffs missing, but there are too for the casters. Not to mention the rotation of the enh shaman, I looked up multiple guides of how to dps and they all described the same rotation, which I followed to a tee in this video. I can try to add those buffs however for future dps showdowns if my own private servers will allow those to be applied. Not a programmer myself nor have I ever developed anything private server related so it was already challenging enough for me to set things up. In regards to the items, they're not supposed to be best in slot or anything...apart from preraid which I specifically say is best in slot. The rest is just in tier gear. If I took out pieces for better ones it would get even more complicated and these tests are already very time consuming for me to make.

Just stay to the things you are comfortable to pull of correctly before people interpret these things in a bad way.

    • @andreaslechler4698
      @andreaslechler4698 Před 4 lety +1

@@HamsterWheelGaming pretty much what @Skull Candy said. Short example: Tips Outs "Class Deep Dives". He grabbed experienced players and interviewed them as he doesnt have enough knowledge of all classes but wants to do his stuff properly. You could have done basicly smth similar. Imagine trying to contact "Rippy" or another good TBC enha shaman (which you could easy find via "LegacyPlayers.com" for example) and talk about the important stuff. Same for ele of course. You dont have to copy Tips content, but you could have gotten rly good infos, mention the person @ the end of the video and thats it. (just an example)
The thing is, melees scale way stronger with buffs than many casters (especially eles dont scale that well into very late game) and the ele got almost all of his important buffs. Melees just have much more neccessary buffs/debuff to play around with.
Another problem is the gear. You say its not ment to be completely bis, which is fine ofc. But the ele scales way better here, as he got his big t6 bonus and t6 is his bis set. The enha also got his t6 bonus but this one is not worth it, as you got better items for enhancement in every single
slot. So you show an ele with close to bis gear vs a enhancement shaman with suboptimal gear. Which causes a dps difference on its own already. I hope you get my point.
Rly appreciate your long answer and trying to give constructive critisism.
Btw, not directly topic related: i can already tell, if you do a similar rundown for druids (with the same conditions as here) its most likely that the balance druid will win although the feral should mob the floor with it.

If I won't do them correctly...so like what, simulate a perfect raiding environment? That makes absolutly 0 sense because it's impossible to do that just on my own private server. People can obviously see the premise, and they can clearly see that this is not a super accurate simulation because there's no boss in tbc that's permastunned where you have to pay 0 attention to tactics. I think you need to think a little more highly of people who watch this, I really don't think they'll look at my own simulation with a few random gear levels where I'm perma-stunning a boss and say 'see elemental is way better!' when obviously in an actual raiding environment you might wear different gear and you have to take tactics into consideration. Like I said multiple times before I always tell people to take it with a grain of salt, and I don't flat-out say 'elemental shamans are better!', I say the elemental shaman has won in this particular test.

Absolutely, and it's by no means a 100% perfect simulation. There's also buffs I could add for the caster group but this testing area with the multiple macros and such already gets pretty crazy just to do on my own for these videos. I don't even wanna know how much of a logistical nightmare it would be to try and simulate a perfect raiding environment on my own server, so I decided to leave it as this and that's also why I make it very clear that people should take this with a grain of salt.

They do quicker than enh shamans for sure, but they can tone down their dps a bit by removing chain lightning from their rotation. By doing so you're not sacrificing a huge amount of your dps and even then throughout a good chunk of TBC you're probably going to outdps an equivelantly geared enhancement shaman.

Stick whatever totems benefit the entire group the most. Group dps > your dps. • @lolwhatever7307

This is not even close to reality. First of all enh will get huge buffs from raid. Feral, arms, surv, bm, retri, all arp from warriors/rogues/boomkins/locks, all that shit buff enha. At the same time for elem sham there are not many raid buffs, even CoE doesnt work and bonus nature damage from stormstrike will be consumed by hunter's windserpents.
Also enh should always twist agi and windfury, thats the main reason some need him in raid. And twisting lowers your damage by quite a lot.

As someone who had played enh since vanilla, I'd like to point out that this is a very poor representation for bc dps, the itemization is not good, you skipped the strongest tier set for enh (t5) and it seems like you just equipped higher ilvl pieces for each rank which is not how it works for enh. DSG trinket from gruul is bis basically forever, and eventually you can min max armour pen onto your off hand, ect. By the time enh hits swp you can be north of 2k dps, by the time bc was ending, 2.5k no problem. Also, how long did you run the dps test for? Ele is all burst and low sustain, they always had mana problems... I mean in one of the tests you can clearly see you don't keep searing totem down for the enh... not to mention with totem twisting you can add good tier damage to any melee group. Not a personal dig at the guy making the video, just wanted to point out this isn't accurate.
