- This 9.75 mile route is a linear walk, using the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway as transport to and from the start and end.
The "short cut" we took involved a short pathless section on the descent from Boat How.
Steep ascent to Illgill Head, but after that the majority of the climbing is done.
