      Being a born actor, of course Glenda is absolutely brilliant at delivering demolition speeches attacking socially divisive conservative policies in the chamber. Unfortunately when it comes to defending her Camden constituents against evil doing Camden Council officials or corrupt Camden Police commanders she is totally disinterested. I have many ridiculous House Of Commons letters to prove it and I know I'm not alone.

      Frank Day Thank you Frank. In hindsight I do respect your views that she may not be all she appears to be and some of her policies are a little wayward. But the sick and disabled in this country need as many voices like hers to be heard as possible. Again, I do respect your opinions, they are your right of free speech...whilst we still have them!

      George "Wally" Smith is Cameron's and Osborne's useful idiot. They want to destroy the Welfare state in its entirety but they want to put the blame on a dick-head like Smith.
      Due to the amount of money he's poured into the pockets of the private sector - billions - his future is assured. he will retire to several cushy directorships and will probably be given a peerage for doing as he was told.
      To do this he has been responsible for the deaths of some of the most vulnerable people in the country. A man devoid of conscience.
      Death is too good for him

    The sooner the Tories are gone from Government the better.
    They've already announced even more cuts to disabled benefits and also cuts to pension related benefits. Makes you wonder if that safety net we've all paid decades NI contributions for will even exist if the Tories are permitted to continue ...
    Bring on May 2015 ... I want to wave goodbye to these b'stards. So sad we've got to pay them pensions!

    • @Camsplint
      @Camsplint Před 10 lety +2

      Once we've removed them from power we could take away their pensions - and sue them for the return of all of OUR money they've stolen.
      And as for directorships, you have to be "of good repute" to be a company director, so that would rule out the overwhelming majority of ex-politicians.
      All that needs to happen is for someone to enforce it - another job for a future government.
      That should give them some idea of the conditions under which they expect others to live.

    • @titytit
      @titytit Před 10 lety +1

      You do understand that the Nations deficit is huge, and the debt is even bigger, right?
      You do understand that we cant start paying off the debt until the deficit is gone, right?
      You DO understand that the welfare budget is one of the largest, bloated and most wasteful sectors the treasury puts money into, right?
      I'd rather cut the overly generous benefits than healthcare, education, the military, law and order/police, emergency services etc etc.

    • @titytit
      @titytit Před 10 lety

      Glenda Jackson is an ex showbiz luvvie, and a superannuated hippie taking cheap shots from the back bench. If you think she won't throw you under the bus the first time her comfy little sinecure is threatened you are very much mistaken. The only reason she champions the working class is because it makes her look good and it costs her nothing. I'm 66 years old and I remember her from way back, flashing her tits on the silver screen and marching with the SWP. it's odds on she's a sponsor of the UAF too.

    I work as benefits specialist for a charity and I can say with certainty it’s only gotten worse. People are desperate and the way they’re treated is disgusting. I’ve had end stage cancer patients call me sobbing because they’ve been deemed fit for work. 92% of mandatory reconsiderations (first step of appeal) are upheld.

    Mind you, she was 78 when she gave this speech. 78 years old, and still had a load of fiery thoughts in her head.

    Show this on the news. This is IMPORTANT. Sad how few MPs are showing up. But she is speaking the truth at a time it needs to be spoken, and more need to get in there to support her.

    Glenda Jackson should be leading the Labour Party,who among them is better equipped for the post?We desperately need her to do what must be done to bring our country back now.As for this Conservative 'Government' They have no interest in the people!They know what they are doing and it is simply to take care of their backers,feather their nest,and make the most of their time 'in charge' never mind Authority equals responsibility,for them it is just a golden opportunity!
